Something weird is going on with TRC pool. My hashrate is about half what it should be and round shares are frozen. Does not seem to be updating.

My miner is showing shares being accepted though.

Is this still an issue?

No longer seems frozen. Might have been a short term glitch.

Also is the BQC pool working correctly? I wanted to give it a try but noticed that no blocks have been found and the hash rate has been 3-4 MH/s all day. Just really bad luck? They should be getting a block about every 2 hours on average.

I tried solo mining BQC and some other pools and was getting more stales then accepted shares. Don't know if this is still an issue.

I'm not sure what's going on with BBQ..

Edit: To expand, there aren't any coins (or even transactions) in the wallet, which means there haven't been any blocks found for sure.  (it's not a case of blocks being found but not making it into the db.)

It's possible that there is some non-obvious problem between bbqcoind and stratum..  It's pretty far down on my list of things to investigate, pool-wise, though; maybe given that, I should just shut down the port.

TRC pool refuses to give me any difficulty above 1, not sure what's going on, tried a dozen different settings with the same result.

how fast are you submitting shares?

TRC pool is bugging out, constantly getting MySQL errors.

Odd, getting the same error on other TRC pools.

hmm, odd MySQL error.. Increased some settings in MySQL and restarted the TRC pool.

Still happening.

Code:
[2013-05-11 11:39:49] JSON stratum auth failed: [
   -1,
"(2006, 'MySQL server has gone away')",
   null]

EDIT: Happening less often but still getting the same error as above.

This is on TRC?  or FRC?

I don't see any of those in the TRC logs since the 10th:

Code:
2013-05-09 21:37:46,459 ERROR protocol # [Failure instance: Traceback: <class '_mysql_exceptions.OperationalError'>: (2006, 'MySQL server has gone away')

there were some mincoin blocks last night that didn't get paid out correctly, I'm fixing them in the db right now so they'll be paid.

It's possible and not difficult to mine YAC with GPU, at least for the first 1-3 month.

be safe to trade.

In other news, the sky is blue and the ocean is wet.

2137  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [0 PH/s] www.multipool.in 0% PPLNS [Stratum Only] Multi-currency on: May 11, 2013, 12:59:25 AM
Not necessarily just solo miners, mining pool software as well.  No end user of a mining pool would need to worry about this.

But it's still a bad idea.

It does impact pools which pay out directly in the coinbase (Eligius). Bter has the same problem. "Generated" coins with no "input" are ignored/lost by those (all?) exchanges, because they don't look at any deposits in that section (which they should).

Right, and I suppose it would impact p2pool users as well, and that's most likely at whom the announcement was targeted.
2138  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Ripple is Superior to Bitcoin... on: May 10, 2013, 11:00:32 PM
That Bitcoin debit cards are not yet available is not a fault of the currency, it just means that nobody has set up a Bitcoin debit card service yet.

It's completely doable.

You are sidestepping the issue.  Having a Bitcoin debit card would still involve people moving USD (or other currencies) into Bitcoin in order to put the Bitcoin on the card.   Why bother?  Just buy the pizza with USD.  Done.

Until this issue addressed, the only people who will be paying with Bitcoin are miners, early adopters, and idealists who already have them.   And yes, you will find vendors that will accept them using services that turn them immediately into their local currency because who would want to turn away business?  And of course, some vendors might want to hold on to some of the BTC for speculative reasons.   However, none of that makes it a mainstream currency or anything close to it.

Mainstream usage will start with a payment system that doesn't interfere with the existing one (or makes things a lot easier).   From there, adoption of alternate currencies will flourish.  That's my view on this.  I'm happy to consider other views though, I just haven't heard any yet.

Well of course you have to already have Bitcoin to be able to pay with Bitcoin.  Just like you need to already have XRP to be able to pay with Ripple.

Maybe AFTER you set everything up, XRP is a little more transparent to the user, but setting it up is hardly any less complicated than buying some bitcoin.

frontend is back up.  You should see a fairly decent speed improvement.  Also, estimates are no longer realtime and now update once every 5 minutes.
