2141  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Always hide your forum email address after registration. on: April 18, 2023, 04:54:20 AM
I once thought about a single advantage of unveiling our email address on our profile page, except that it's also linked to our account and used for forgot password activity, guest of the forum who can't send pm can easily contact a member through their emails for business purposes. Supposing that the forum is filled with only cool headed people both guests, that would have been a good alternative means of contacting people. Since the disadvantages as Op advised outweighs the advantage it's important to hide the email and substitute it with our social media links, a space is made available for that too.
2142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC vs physical gold price potential on: April 18, 2023, 04:34:02 AM
So in terms of value 1 BTC is worth 10kgs of gold. But given that 10kgs of gold costs 650 000 dollars today and 1 BTC costs 30 000, BTC must be undervalued and still has a potential to 20x from here. So why would people buy gold as a hedge against inflation, when they can buy BTC that is undervalued by a factor of at least 20? I guess the answer lies in confidence and previous experience.

Is any of the above wrong?

In the case of gold, it seems quite plausible to me that the Bitcoin, being a kind of gold 2.0, a better digital gold, will absorb much of the market cap of gold, but will it absorb it all? I don't think so. You have to think that gold is used for jewelry and in industry, and you can't put satoshis to make a ring or electronic devices. This is why I see a better future for gold relative to bitcoin than paper maps vs. google maps.

I'd say that the gold used for jewelries and industries should be considered as altgolds like in bitcoin, as they can be resold at a cheaper rate, cheaper than the actual price of gold, in exchange of goods or money by the owner of the jewelry, depending on the amount of gold used for the production. However, it's almost impossible for bitcoin to absorb all the market cap of gold as gold is scarce and on demand too, almost similar qualities as bitcoin. Hence, the world can't move completely digital, we'll need the physical treasures to show off or run transactions. Even, many people will run to utilize gold than bitcoin for top confidential transactions, as everything digital cannot be considered a secret.
2143  Other / Meta / Re: why bitcointalk don't advertise anywhere. on: April 17, 2023, 05:26:51 AM
A forum like bitcointalk, OP, prefers backlinks to those kind of adverts. And the forum has gotten lots of organic backlinks from different top DA blogs from the history of bitcoin to the first bitcoin transaction in the forum. Lot of platforms has a link to this forum, so that's a good reason why it ranks on google and also drives more traffics. Even when people look up stake on google they can also find their bitcointalk ANN threads, which can also lead them to the forum, though not on the first page. As for other social media like Facebook, they started with referral; invite your friend to facebook. These days such platforms including this forum don't need to advertise on boards or social media to get their traffics, the contents here are so many and quality, google loves forums with good contents, that's why a good number of threads in this forum ranks on google first page.
2144  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Number Of Bitcoin Millionaires Doubles In 2023 on: April 17, 2023, 04:33:13 AM
What!!?  Millionaires in Bitcoin are emerging with just $30+, so technically, if the price hits $60 or $70k, we will be talking about trillionaires, right?

It seems to me that mathematics is not your strong suit. If at the current price there are x number of millionaires, if the price doubles, they will not become trillionaires, which I doubt you know what that means, but instead of one million in fiat equivalent they will have two million. Another consequence is that those who at current prices have between half a million dollars and $999,999 will also become millionaires.

Think that a trillion is a million million, so multiplying a million by two is not even close.

Maybe he just made it up to correct the OP kinda sarcastic reply. But looking into it, he could have mistaken billion to trillion, yet it's not achievable with the price rate of bitcoin mentioned on his comment. Aside that, what OP said, I thought about and realized that many investor made profits out of the recent pump in price of bitcoin. Some bought at 16k, so the amount of bitcoin they bought has to do with the profits they'll realize. The bull run came earlier than expected, hoping it hangs around that amount or increases again, at least those who lost a lot of money in bitcoin during the bear market could regain from the losses.
2145  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I need help on: April 16, 2023, 08:24:30 PM
You should count yourself lucky to find such a customer that wants to pay in Bitcoin. It's a rare opportunity if you knew more about bitcoin, if you are scared you can immediately convert the funds to your local currency and purchase all the materials required to carry out the task. But if the money is your salary and the company provides working materials for you then you need to get a hardware wallet to store the funds; this depends on the number of zeros or figures is your salary.
2146  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Justin Sun sued by SEC. Effect on Bitcoin? on: April 15, 2023, 10:42:27 PM
Justin Sun did a massive promotion for the unauthorized tokens which made it sell out in millions, celebrities like Akon were penalized for promoting such a project. The market will always have such news, it's not new, we should be getting used to such ill information on top cryptocurrency business owners. I feel bad for the fine those celebrities paid, its not their fault to fall into such situation and promoting a project given to them by Justin sun, it may not have given them the slightest need to research the projects, the Government didn't do well about the penalty issued to the artists, so many cryptocurrency influencers did promote that same project, but it was not written anywhere in the article about paying a penalty, yet the famous ones were penalized for not informing the public that it's a sponsored promotion.

I always wonder what happened to them, if they got filthy rich from bitcoin and just went off-grid or simply lost interest or something in between.  Anyway, for your own educational edification, do some digging into forum history.  It's gnarly!

I've read tweets of an old member of the forum who complained that he left because the forum was no longer filled with technical intellectuals. So many people must have done similar things as most threads then was in the tech and development boards and today that board is not as busy as it used to be in the past. Many of them now spend time on GitHub discussing new Bitcoin updates. Nothing fascinating about the forum to keep those early Bitcoin engineers and programmers to continue adding contents and discussions in the forum. Especially during the bounty hunting era many of them left the forum as people joined to make some bucks and returned unfurnished contents just to earn.
Somewhere in 2018 there was alot of spamming in the forum. I know so many of us that gave the forum break and later returned but some found some other things for their time and did not return.
But it is normal, we cannot continue to be here. At a time we will give way for new fucks to join the bandwagon and as the times goes the standard and urge to participate diminishes.

Do not forget to add that some many some regrettable mistakes with money and bitcoin and visiting this forum would freshen their wound of regret. So it is better they avoided here totally.

Though according to a thread on the meta board about the yearly traffics in the forum, 2018 had the highest traffics if I could vividly remember. Why did a lot of people get interested in the forum at that particular year? Some may attribute it to the increase in price of bitcoin in 2017, but they've been such an increase in 2021 yet the forum wasn't that busy. However, you made a right statement, we can't be here for long, people move ahead to find other things to do with their time, but many of these people still spend time online, why not come take a look and contribute at a go. In similar ways, I do go back to some old forums I've been using years back just to look around, even if I don't add posts there. I believe your last line is the main reason those who don't come to visit at all decided to keep it that way.

Izzy has removed the doubt of many who thought he can't win Pereira in this game. Glad to see the joy in his face when he knocked his opponent to the floor. Like the OP said, a whole lot of fans supported Izzy to win the game. Though it would have been a shame if he lost this match to Periera, his fans would have made fun out of Izzy. Izzy is strong contendant and knows TKO well enough, he'll bounce back stronger.
2150  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Life is good with 250 units of bitcoin; early opp. on: April 13, 2023, 12:47:24 PM
No matter how early its always too late to regret. You only feel bad because they're your friends and its bitter they told you to join them, and you declined, is it why you can't meet them to discuss new ideas with the funds they've made out of Bitcoin? Listen, OP, life moves and it's left for you to figure out a way to earn more through cryptocurrency. A lot of things to do on the internet, which if you focus on doing them you may not be bothered about the furtunes your friends made using Bitcoin. You can earn Bitcoin from selling or reselling a service. Given time you'll bounce up and gain more BTC and profits. Although the difficult thing about opportunity is knowing the right one, even now, some opportunities are sitting close to you and staring at you to utilize them, and you may not be able to figure them out until someone else does that for you and you'll end up regretting again.

2152  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Set your mind on your goals and nothing else on: April 13, 2023, 12:12:41 PM
Everyone seems to have a goal and a target in life, but everyone cannot end up being thesame in terms of how successful they would be.I believe everyone has destiny, but the effort individual put towards making that destiny a reality is what makes the difference. Some persons are born with a silver spoon, while some were not born into a wealthy background, therefore, before they will get to a certain height,or before they can be financially stable, they must work so hard, and do everything possible to be at the top, knowing very well that they weren't born with a silver spoon.

I belong to that category, who must work so hard to get to the height I want,in order for my dreams to be materialised,I put a set target for my self every year, and try my possible best to meet that target. This is what I've been doing, and I am happy the little way I am now,and with my progress so far,I know the future has the best for me.

Have you also thought about a world where the last to laugh, laughs the best. Those birthed with a silver spoon most often don't outsmart a determined person who wants to succeed in an industry but was born in an average home. It all depends on the tool each person works with, hand, brain or the both. An idea can't be bought with money except the person who has the idea wants to share and sell the idea. Hence the focus is for both the rich and broke, though it could be harder for the broke person yet it's an open market. The person with the most focus and tactics would win in the industry and top the industry. We all have to come up with ideas that'll get us to the top and as well outsmart our competitors. No matter how long it took for the dream to be achieved what matters is that it'll come to be real, that's the joy of a determined person regardless of their background.

I expect Craig "Faketoshi" Wright to take a legal action and file a copyright infringement lawsuit against Apple now.  Grin

Yeah exactly, I was going to write the same thing. When will there be an article mentioning a noisy trial about it? That's a godsend for him!  Grin
That didn't take long, did it?  Grin

This guy is completely nuts!

I thought the Hodlonaut case would have kept him quiet over his claims of being Satoshi, however he can't take any step, he just admitted that apple broke the copyright law. Craig cannot stand apple in court for such a thing as being the owner of bitcoin whitepaper, they're many backed up proofs to why he'll fail again. Unless he is seeking to remain relevant on news outlets, he wouldn't think of filing a lawsuit against apple.
2155  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No late comer in bitcoin Investment. on: April 08, 2023, 12:29:58 AM
Early or late depends on the understanding of the investor what bitcoin is about. The way a person joins the bitcoin market can differ, some invested and was unlucky and others were lucky to gain in bitcoin. As we know, humans get encouraged by profits, those who profited from bitcoin after investing would continue staying in the market even if it gets red, while their counterparts who lost money wouldn't like to stick in the market. Though, in a common sense no industry has a late comer yet some people consider themselves late comers that's why they'll be called late comers.
2156  Economy / Economics / Re: If the dollar was worthless! on: April 08, 2023, 12:17:46 AM

Perfect! So everyone that could not provide any services or sell any goods would not have the posibilites to buy bitcoin at that time. This would make the transition to the time where fiat is no more very complicated... while there are probably 1000 other things to be worried about at that time.

But lets say we would want the world's economy to be completely decentralized with no fiat, and no inflation politics. How could we create a smooth transition where there won't a complete havock?

Treasures are generally considered as money while USD is a currency. People would use money to get anything they need, bitcoin is a currency authorized by a decentralized network and not to be seen as a means to solve the problem if USD goes to zero, as it's not generally accepted by everyone in the world. Hence, in a situation like this people can run back to treasures like silver, gold, oil etc as means of transaction. These natural resources are needed by everyone in everyday life, so people with the most treasures will be considered rich, I don't think everyone would run back to bitcoin if fiat goes to zero. Bitcoin can be affected too if that happens looking at how fragile bitcoin is and how it gets affected if the world economy is in trouble. Bitcoin is an alternative, yet I don't see a world where everyone will use bitcoin as the only means of transaction. Gold, and silver have been existing as money worldwide and it has never been recorded anywhere that everyone in the world accepted only gold. Anything can be money depending on the two persons involved in the transaction, between Julius Caesar exchanged his Daughter to Pompey for thousands of Legions as bride price. In a nutshell, don't feel disappointed, but the world can't run completely back to bitcoin as the only means of transaction, it's impossible. That's why you cant rap it around your head how it'll occur for everyone to own bitcoin and transact with bitcoin. I thought about it too.
2157  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Skill Based Slot Machines on: April 07, 2023, 11:39:01 PM
Even the traditional slot machines requires personal skills to win, If not how would they have made up a skill based slot machine. Slot machines relies on the player's ability to make decisions. We all know that no specific means of determining what actually works in slot machines exists, but finding a malfunctioning slot machine is also a skill to win the house and gain top profits. I read through the article and it wasn't sure what kind of skill they talked about if not giving out bonus to the player to try luck in form of skills. I think the bonus is the only difference between the traditional slot machine and skilled based slot machines since it's not 100% sure that the player in skilled based machine would win, similar to the traditional based machines it's not guaranteed that the player would lose completely because they're playing on traditional machines.

It's a difficult time for people in countries that don't have vendors who trade bitcoin with bank transfers. How can people who don't like patronizing centralized exchanges convert their bitcoin to fiat? Localbitcoin and paxful gone in a twinkle of an eye, the market is losing lots of good projects. These two p2p platforms provided good rates and good user interface. Well, I see some p2p platforms coming out in the market, yet to confirm their authenticity. It'll be risky to move quickly to startup p2p platforms as lot of it are sprouting out to deceive people since top platforms are getting closed.
2160  Other / Meta / Re: How to add your Bitcointalk profile to your homescreen on: April 04, 2023, 06:04:36 PM
Having the forum as your wall paper or home screen is indeed a good way to promote not just the forum but Bitcoin to people who access your phone. Though, it's not advisable to release your device to people without having a closer look on how they operate your phone, yet it's also good to see that you accomplished your aim of making your forum profile a home screen. It can help you stay consistent in the forum, as it'll be a reminder that you've not visited the forum in a while. Always stay secure.
