2141  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: 2023 Gubernatorial Elections Discussion Thread {Focus on Lagos & Rivers States} on: March 17, 2023, 07:06:45 AM

As I dey see this photos self I come understand say lagos don get another gubernatorial candidate for pdp wey no be Jimi Agbeje. Jimi don too much hold the ticket. Wey be say Fashola won him, Ambode won him too and Olu won him. ThankGod new person don enter.

But for overall,  I don lose interest. I no go travel and I no go vote after wetin INEC do, e dey obvious say our votes no dey count.
This your top candidates for the Rivers gubernatorial election them no complete in the sense that in my observation one of the top candidates too is omitted among the picturesque you display. And that person is no other person than the candidate of the Labour Party in the person of Beatrice Itubo. And this omission just dey show say some people don already dey underrate the influence of the woman for the state and even the influence of the Labour party through the Peter-Obi-effect. One bitter truth be say many persons for we Rivers state son even tire for all these same faces of politicians and political parties wey don dey since 1999 and we need new visionaries.
Me I just believe say dis Rivers election the outcome go shock plenty people cause all the mago-mago wey Dem do for presidential election don open people eyes.

And for the one wey you say u don loss interest, my guy abeg never loss interest yet, dis country na our own and na only we go fit mk am beta and one of such ways to mk am beta na through the ballot... Wen we com out in mass vote it dey hard for politicians to rig am compared to wen few people com out. For example  no see as people com out for the presidential election com vote, na mk as Dem try to rig am Dem mk plenty errors n mistk way open their yansh for the world eyes say Dem rig d election wey even Dem no even get excuse to take deny am. So bro abeg try com out mk we do it one more time , our country need us now more than ever!
2142  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Referral bonuses are waste of time on: March 16, 2023, 08:13:36 PM
For you It may seem hard to earn referral bonuses but there sets of gamblers who venture into this referral expedition and are making some profits from it based on whatever amount any of their registered referral deposits and gambling with they receive percentage for as many number they bring in. And this referral of a thing is said to be impossible to be true when you're dealing with a casino that has no good reputation in keeping to their words.
Referral bonuses only makes sense when the gambling sites deem it fit to keep to their own Side of the bargain while you keep yours and make sure your referrals don't only just register but also engage in gambling activities on the sites too. So it's a two way thing!
2143  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The journey of successful business man who were professional gamblers on: March 16, 2023, 05:31:59 PM
Gambling no doubt has ruin the life of many gamblers and same gambling has liberated others from the shackles of poverty to an enviable echelon and this also is determined by their decision to invest this money they won through gambling to establish  into other business  that would yield ROI all their life. These person OP mentioned took a decision of making a difference in their life, taking an initiative that would change their status from gamblers to business tycoons. But there are those who despite how much amount  they win from gambling their life doesn't show something to reckon with and these are the sets of gamblers that makes  outsiders breed a wrong impression that gambling is nothing but a fruitless and unproductive venture that only bend on ruining he lives of those that patronize it. However these few men mentioned above, their outcome sends a different message.
2144  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Being drunk while trading what was your experience on: March 16, 2023, 11:50:07 AM
Trading while under the influence of alcohol is like driving a car on a high way while being drunk, we all can imagine the resultant effect of drinking and driving, same applies to trading you just crash into a huge loss in no time. Let's say the situation unfolds this way, your friend may have been trading already and same time having a drink then later got drunk in the process but instead of suspending the trade he still continued. This is what I think, your friend is insensitive and irresponsible with money and as his action is capable of throwing away a truck of asset into the drain.
2145  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Repairing Antminer S9j on: March 16, 2023, 11:00:17 AM
I bought a used S9j miner and it is not in good working order.

Now I am trying to decide if I should send it back or negotiate a price drop and then learn how to repair it. Any helpful hints would be much appreciated!

One of the three hashboards does not work. The red LED comes on sometimes, and sometimes a small number shows in the GH/S(RT) column, but it never heats up or produces significant hashes. Mostly it hashes zero.

The power supply has damage to multiple cables, they must have been chafing against sharp metal shelve edges or something like it. L

Some of the output capacitors in the PSU seem to be getting much hotter than others, and the miner (hashing on 2 boards only) stops hashing every few minutes and starts over. I don't know if the PSU might be too weak, have not investigated in any detail yet.

Questions:
1) Is it potentially possible to repair the hashboard? I have swapped over the cables between the control board and the hash board, the fault is in the hashboard not the cable or control board.

2) Can the capacitors be replaced? It looks to me like I can solder new ones in, but I have no idea if they are hard to find, and if I would need to replace all of them instead of the 2 that look hotter on an infrared photo.

3) Could a replacement hashboard be used, or do they need to be a 'matching set' or specific serial number?

4) I think I can de-solder the cables at the PSU board and then put shrink-wrap around the damaged parts and solder them back on. Or is that a particularly stupid idea?

Thanks for any helpful hints!
If I have to be frank with you mate you have got a lot of work and spending to do. From all indication going by your explanations I think before you end up making replacements and repairs of the said miner parts in addition to any negotiation amount the seller and you might agreed upon you must have end up expending a significant sum that could have afford you with an almost new miner in the market.  It would be better to send it back cause it's most likely after you must have made few repairs you may not make some profits enough to cover for all your expenses before another repairing needs may arise again.
2146  Economy / Economics / Re: Is there a place in the world you could live like a king via sig campaigns? on: March 16, 2023, 09:00:41 AM

That tells me that there's something to it, because there's no way father, sons, mom, and whatever grandparents are still alive would be bounty hunting if it weren't at least a little bit lucrative.  So I'd love to know how far campaign earnings ($1500 per week for 5 people in my example) could be stretched.  Are there actually places out there where one could not only survive but thrive by earning bitcoin on the forum?

<and how does one go about getting citizenship?>
Different folks for different strokes in same way different countries different economies. A family earning $1500 per week in some European cities like the New York may not be able to live and afford a near opulence lifestyle due to the demands of such city life but for a family from developing countries like those of Africa such amount of money from bounty campaign per week is enough to give them a luxurious standard of living, cause when you convert $1500 to the local currency it runs into a million plus in amount. In places like this you don't just survive but live a decent life, can afford for the good things of life there, but not as a king but definitely you won't be struggling with finances issues.
2147  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Early bitcoin investment for my baby on: March 15, 2023, 09:39:50 PM
Congratulations on your safe delivery, from the photos I can imagine how beautiful you baby looks. And on your decision to invest the financial gift's you got on behalf of your baby into bitcoin as a way of securing her financial future like I must admit that is one of the best decision you have just made in the journey of life for your child. I know of some parents that had this plan for their children after birth, in their own case they had to invest in shares and stocks from reputable establishments for their children and the these children came of age about to get into the university the proceeds from the investment over the years was what they used in sponsoring themselves throughout their university time and afterwards.
So on this note, your child will ever be grateful to grow up knowing their the mother has already secured his future because 18 years from now bitcoin would be worth in value  than what anyone can imagine now.
2148  Economy / Gambling / Re: New Casinos Launched in Canada on: March 15, 2023, 08:19:59 PM
Yeah it's true gambling is for fun but what's the fun if you ain't earning a win too, like what would you then use in servicing the fun continuously cause you can't just go to the casino to catch some fun on an empty pocket. Who does that! Grin
Going forward, it's not new that when new casino's come on board they ditch out various bonus packages just to lure and attract much patronage after which within a little while these bonuses are then cut off. But it would be so great they keep to their words while the bonus package period last cause that what most gamblers like us are attract to apart from our very win.
2149  Other / Beginners & Help / How's your bitcoin lifestyle? on: March 15, 2023, 02:47:39 PM
I was watching a TV programme in one of our local TV channels, it was an interview section/discussion with a certain popular musician as a guest in the studio, soon afterward as the discussion was going on the presenter asked him a particular question to which I found very interesting and absorbing. The question goes like this: "How do you maintain your private life in the view of public eyes".
So I decided to ponder on this myself and also to  bring same to the forum for forum users to share their thoughts on this, as a bitcoiner, a bitcoin trader or investor how do you maintain your bitcoin life in the view of public eyes?
As for me; I keep mine on a low cause personally am someone that love to keep a very small circle  and so I do my things my way not to attract public eyes. I don't post about being a bitcoiner on social media like facebook, Instagram, and rarely talk about it in any gathering except in demanding situation's.  I like it when people have no clue about what I do rather assume things about me than being certain especially not about my financial life which is supposed to be strictly private for me.

According to Socrates, "The unexamined life is not worth living", so can you take a minute to examine your bitcoin lifestyle in in terms of public view and share with us if you're the private life kind of person or you prefer the public lifestyle of letting almost everyone know you're into bitcoin.

Mind you, this is only intended for a discussion purpose.
2150  Economy / Gambling / Re: Positive Gambling Quotes for 2023! on: March 15, 2023, 07:28:47 AM
This very first quote is one quote I carted from a country classic music genre from Rogers if which I love listening to as a gambler.
Quote
“ Every gambler knows the secret to surviving, knowing when to throw in, knowing when to keep, cause every hand is a loser and every hand is a winner....” – Kenny Rogers

Quote
“Gambling, a reward for passion.” – bet9ja

2152  Economy / Gambling / Re: What if bitcointalk creates a casino review and ratings board for members. on: March 14, 2023, 08:10:33 PM
The idea is not a bad one at all but the process for attainment is what worries me as humans are bias in nature die to some sentimental attachment that may arise or be. Like the issue of a rating star for each casino's as a way of showing how reputable and convenience their services are. I think some forum users might develop some bias in terms of such rating as they may wanna rate a particular casino against another not based on neutral and reasonable ground but based on emotions, for example could be how beneficial a particular casino might have been to a particular user in terms of their signature campaigns and how long it has been operating in the forum but on the other hand it could be that in terms of service delivery in their operations to their customers they ain't that top-notch compared to another with a poor signature campaign service here in the forum but have a good customer service and convenient features.
N/B: just my personal thoughts though!
2153  Economy / Reputation / Re: Please tag this scammer and have a warning flag on: March 14, 2023, 02:51:26 PM
There are things like we just shouldn't do, taking advantage of the gullibility of newbies is one time I detest seeing people do so here in the forum. And that is why it's advisable for every newbie to always ask questions about anything you wanna involve in or do here in the forum as there are forum users readily available to enlighten you on any issue asked.
Forum moderators and administrators should do well to prevent such scam from seeing the light of day here in the forum, this is not to say that moderators ain't doing well to mitigate against such fraudulent activities but more efforts so that it won't seem to newbies that the forum is not safe to participate in.

2155  Economy / Gambling / Re: Gambler Loses 1.4 million USD in a bet with lower than 1.01 odds! on: March 14, 2023, 06:30:29 AM
https://nypost.com/2023/01/15/gambler-loses-massive-1-4-million-bet-on-chargers-jaguars-game/
Quote
One bettor wasted a massive $1.4 million wager after betting on Los Angeles before the Jaguars mounted an epic comeback to beat the Chargers 31-30, according to Action Network’s Darren Rovell.

It seems that a gambler has loss this massive amount (1.4 million USD) playing a bet with an odds lower than 1.01! (exactly 1.008)

I think there are several lessons here:
- there is not easy bet! even lower odds there is always a risk.
- it's really risky playing an huge amount. This not helps gambler because the risk is much much higher then rewards!
- gambling is not easy at all! it's really hard achieve a profit even for easy games!
A million dollar for a risk which returns doesn't amount to a significant figure based on the odds. The amount expected to be won doesn't worth the amount of risk exerted and maybe the said gambler didn't think this through because he might have  felt it was a good odd for easy win since it was a 1.01 odd but the truth is that in gambling there are no easy win, do your analysis well before executing any bet no matter how attractive the odds might seem. Most of these small odds are deceptive odds that gambling platforms are using to manipulate gamblers as they get carried away by the odd size.
2156  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading addiction, are you coping? on: March 13, 2023, 09:49:34 PM

I think it would be perfect to bring this trading discussion. Are you addicted to trading? I am thinking that making profit from trading or making losses, there is a chance that some traders are addicted to trading. What are you doing naturally to stay away from trading addiction?
In life we're all addicted to something it may not be drugs, alcohol, womanizing or gambling, it could be other conventional issues that are positive to ones live and the the society itself. Myself for instance, recently I discover there's no day I don't spend much time with my phone online logged on to bitcointalk forum, that's an addiction but because it's a positive one that's paying off iny self development it doesn't seem to bother people as an addiction.
So trading as an addiction shouldn't be an issue that demands for a rehab attention to the trader, except in cases where an individual has gone to the extend of having to sell his/her personal properties to keep up with trading then a rehab is the best option. It is popularly said that the excess of anything is bad and this i believe also applies to trading too.
2157  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: You and Your Bitcoin Dreams - My Two Cents on: March 13, 2023, 04:50:23 PM
How much knowledge do you need to achieve your Bitcoin goals in 2023?
We always emphasizing on how to have a palm-full knowledge in making profits with bitcoin as an ultimate goal but I'll diversify from that school of thought for now by saying that traders and investors should focus more on gaining the knowledge of not falling into victim of loosing the Bitcoin they already have even as they thrive to accumulate profits. Getting the knowledge that helps you discern when a certain proposal is a scam scheme, or a certain investment decision may not grow some fruition and how to avoid. This way, you can guide against loosing the bitcoin which you already have while in your quest to achieve more. Like they say, "a bird at hand is better than a thousand in the bush".
2158  Economy / Gambling / Re: No bet is a waste on: March 13, 2023, 01:47:57 PM
I don't think there's anything wrong with that, because I also always do the same for some bets but on the other hand for other things sometimes I also do some bets when approaching kick off especially for soccer. The reason is quite simple because even though there are factors such as H2H or performance that can be one aspect other than Odds, I also always see the condition of the team playing such as whether they play their full squad when playing or indeed back up some core players that can be my consideration in making a bet.
Many times these approach of checking or using H2H, past performances, and full squad as conditions to making a bet don't always work. Gambling site usually use a H2H of a team's performance of over two or own year behind that may possibly not correspond with the team's current form and this could be so deceiving to the gambler.  I do pay more attention to the odds than h2h as the odds as a reflection of the current form of the team and not of their past form .
2159  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A costly gambling mistake on: March 13, 2023, 01:26:59 PM
Outside newbies old-users are not excluded from this behavioral pattern, there is this tendency of feeling like it's time wasting going through the terms and conditions but it's something of necessity so to avoid any regrets thereafter. And these gambling platforms ain't helpful at all with how much of a lengthy T&C's they put down having understood the laziness to ready among many gamblers.
Clicking on the check box✓ of T&C claiming you have read and understood when you haven't it's like signing a contract document without having idea of what the laid down conditions of the do's and don'ts of the contract is all about and that simply is just an act of foolishness.
2160  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The fear of KYC requirements on: March 12, 2023, 09:29:38 PM
Have you ever seen a online casino website that displays, No kYC requirements or KYC requirement for **** amount of withdrawal before? And why won't any online casinos do something like this? I believe this is suppose to boost users and players confidence when they are about to try out new gambling platforms for the first time.

I believe this is still affecting online gambling platforms because this is one of the most common issues that online gamblers are still facing.
Every casino has a KYC as part of their operations policy, you might not get to know this as a new users not until you have won a good large sum of money then boom, KYC requirements will be thrown to you as part of the withdrawal process. But in all of this I literally think that KYC is to the advantage of the gambler as identity theft is well reduced through KYC giving you the gambler a level of satisfaction about the security of your account and any money in it.
It's only gamblers with a dirty intent that abhor KYC thereby wanting to use a fake registration to defraud or flaunt the casino's terms of gambling. The underlying issue here is that as an online gambler KYC should be taken into mind as a thing of necessity that every legitimate online casino may require of you presently or in the future as their reputation and security data depends basically on it.
