21581  Economy / Gambling / Re: I am creating a primedice calculator. on: July 23, 2015, 03:40:51 AM
Hello , i am currently developing a tool to use with primedice that will (Hopefully) calculate a lot of things such as EV etc , i understand primedice's EV is always negative due to the 0.5% edge but i'll do my best.

This is it right now:
[i mg]https://i.imgur.com/c3FHIli.png[/img]

What more would you like to see?
Should i sell it eventually or distribute it free?

The program is developed using Python but i will port it to C# later for easy use.

Thanks Smiley

very nice effort, i would very much like to see the code of your project if it is in c# , i am always interested in programming projects

p.s. i don't think you can sell the project since there is nothing special about it yet, and also i think PrimeDice's house edge is 1% not 0.5% check their website faq to make sure.
21582  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best wallet for cold storage on: July 22, 2015, 06:03:14 AM
Hi,
I'm going to save some Bitcoins for the future. Which is the safest way to store them?
I was thinking about a wallet on a usb flash drive. Which wallet should I choose?

Thank you

i am currently using Electrum on my USB drive with linux live which i keep offline at all times.
it is not that hard to make and it is easy to use in order to spend from.

Bitcoin core installed on a offline linux computer.  Since you are storing coins long term, don't bother downloading the blockchain.  You also should back-up the wallet.dat file and encrypt it on several storage devices.
there are better and easier options. especially if you want to spend them without having to import the private keys. like electrum that i mentioned or even Armory.

I could hold money noone knows I have.

I think that's not always true for some people: when you own a public address, this address can be linked to websites etc that own more personal information about you. However, a solution for this is sending some money to an extra / new address no one knows of. From then it's just a gamble whether it's yours or not. I think the government is not happy with Bitcoin with regard to people "saving money" in Bitcoin than on bankaccounts (in order to prevent paying tax) Wink.

you can always use mixing services to hide your tracks and don't let anybody know how much bitcoin "in total" you own.
and also when buying bitcoin you can do it off the exchanger like person to person with cash or in some cases you can do it using localbitcoins. that way your bank won't have any record of you buying / investing in bitcoin.

Lol my investments that the OP kind of suggested did not work well.
I bought 2 coins, at twice the current volume, price rose a bunch, but there were a couple buy orders for only a couple satoshi, thats it. No one would buy my 100 satoshi sell order, even if it was the lowst one. Then people undercutted my sell orders, and still no one buying.
Screw altcoins lol

welcome to the scam market Cheesy

but seriously i both like and hate YOBIT at the same time. YOBIT , unlike any other exchangers , accepts any coin that is created and puts it in their market. a lot of them are scams others are just being mined and dumped everyday on the exchanger to buy walls that people like OP are putting up. this is true about any other place to some extent too but other exchangers like bittrex accept altcoins that has at least a minimum of people showing interest in it and if the daily volume drops it will be removed from there.

Yep.
I dont trust yobit anymore, maybe its the fact that I lost almost 0.1 btc trying to trade, but bittrex is just a better site. Higher volume, higher liquidity, and they choose coins to add.
Apparently EA had a trojan virus in it, but yobit still adds it to their site...

but it still has good opportunities too, that is why i said i both like and hate it Wink
the good part is, you can find altcoins that will be listed in major exchangers like bittrex / polo / cryptcy but they are in the process so their price is sometimes as low as 1-3 satoshis and soon after they are listed on those places the price is going to 30-1000 satoshi which makes it a great investment even if you can gather upto 0.1 BTC of them.
Yea.
Prebuying many coins for 1-3 satoshis that you think are a good idea, are almost a guaranteed investment. If you buy for 1 satoshi, you can't actually sell for below that, so there is no risk of the price falling.
If you buy a bunch of the coins for 1 satoshi each, then wait for listing on exchange, just sell and easily get 2x+ returns, just by going up a couple satoshi.
Going to 100 satoshi, which is still nothing, would give you 100x return if you bought at 1 satoshi.
I would be doing more of this if I could, but the problem is I don't have the time/space to have hundreds of wallets on my multiple PCs.

what do you need multiple wallets for, you can keep them on the exchanger with no fear. just make a strong password and enable 2FA .
besides IMO keeping anything under 1-2 BTC on exchanger is safe , don't worry too much.
21586  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fees when bitcoin "skyrocket" on: July 22, 2015, 05:21:26 AM
A fee at this moment is a very low value in USD (0,0001 BTC / 2cents).

But - lets hope and pray - when bitcoin skyrocket to prices like 1 btc = 100000$, the fees will be huge in fiat value!! People, for a transaction of 10USD (0,0001BTC) would pay 10USD in fees too!!!

Or am i missing something here?

fees has already been changed a couple of times until now. it was not always 0.0001 BTC for fees , i don't know exactly what was the amounts before but i know for a fact that it has been changed more than once in history of bitcoin.

so in the future it is not a problem to change it again for example if the price skyrockets it can be reduced or if the block reward decreases a couple more times and price goes down it can be increased.
21587  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin as a national currency? on: July 22, 2015, 05:18:24 AM
What do you think? Is it possible for Bitcoin to get accepted as a national currency for any real country? It would be definitely amazing, but I'm sad that governments are scared of Bitcoin, because they can't track it like the banks they own. I heard about "mini-country" ( country in a country ) called Liberland with a cryptocurrency as their main payment method. Please reply here what you think and if you would be happy or not if your national currency is BTC.

no country (government) in their right mind would do such a thing.
  • bitcoin is a global currency so you can not restrict it to one country and also the price of it is not in control of one country
  • the government can not control bitcoin so they wouldn't have the power they have with fiat
  • they can not track it so it would open a lot of criminal activity in their country
  • they can always print out their own money but not bitcoin
21588  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is wealth boring? on: July 22, 2015, 05:12:53 AM
I mean, if you have a lot of capital, the amount of existential press diminishes, right? So you are fully entitled to sit in a meadow and meditate though the rest of your life. What else would you want to do?

I would open a spiritual newage healing clinic if I wanted to do something more.

for people who are not wealthy wealth is not boring and they are pursuing it . and even becoming wealthy is not going to be satisfactory to them . humans are usually so greedy and would never be satisfied so they will always want more, so the pursuit never ends!

but for those who have vast wealth beyond imagination in their possession i think it can get boring. so they would seek other sorts of thrill.

Hello! Bitcoin sparked my interest a few weeks ago and I decided to give it a shot. I've been using some faucets for a while and made a deposit of 30 EUR to my coinbase wallet. I also have a blockchain wallet and an account at yobit.net. If someone could point me in the right direction of where to start that would be great!

I honestly don't have much experience with financial markets, trading etc but I'd like to learn. Is 0.1 Bitcoin too low to do anything with or what would be a suitable amount?

Regards Max

the best investment that someone can have with their bitcoin IMO is trading altcoin. and the good thing is that you can do it for even very small amounts for each trade. the minimum trade volume is usually either 10K or 50K satoshi
you can first start by watching the markets and look at the history of the coins , an visit the altcoin section to read about them and see which one have more people interested in it. and then make decisions .

21593  Economy / Gambling / Re: try your chess skills for bitcoin on: July 22, 2015, 04:28:19 AM
play chess for bitcoins, better then betting
chess4coin.com

i didn't quite understand how it works. are you affiliated with them or just informing others. i think you should make an announcement page in this section advertising the site or even make a signature campaign.

anyways i wanted to know if it is playing against a bot or can i play chess against other humans (PvP) and bet against each other?
players vs players only.
i do not think playing against computer is easy one,

very good.
i like playing chess , i might pay it a visit and play some matches there if i have time later on.
21594  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How much BTC have you gambled? (anonymous on: July 22, 2015, 04:24:43 AM
what?36 people >100BTC for gambling
im at <1BTC for gambling because gambling for fun  Roll Eyes

Check my post above you, I excepted that someone is going to ask.

they were not necessarily lying about > 100 btc they might have trolled .
this happens always on the internet . and since the POLL is anonymous any troll can do his trolling without even being noticed Smiley

yes maybe some people are trolling , but seriously wagering more than 100 btc isn't hard and sometimes it is not risky
if we take live bets on a sports book as an example , you can bet max on a guaranteed match with X1.01 payout
so technically the person who placed his bet wagered big , but the risk is really small and the payout is small too
so the number of how much people wager is really overrated
some people may wager over 1000 btc with 1 btc profit or loss

You are right, that's how I made easy and safe profits from tennis, especially Grand Slam tournaments, my bankroll is less than 6btc on betcoin, but I have wagered 140btc there, now have 1400 status points, i usually bet on low odds to increase my level there, cause I love VIP program there, if my level is very high(at least gold member), I will make lots of money from daily box and betback and lossback.

very interesting.
i didn't get the gambling site's name , can i ask where do you do your bettings on sports?
and do you bet knowing the results on your own because of following the teams / sports or you do it with tips here and there?
21595  Economy / Gambling / Re: Good and relatively safe dice strategy? on: July 22, 2015, 04:18:09 AM
for me i use 0.00000001 X3 bet gain and if lost add 60% and it work if you have a lucky dday

that's called martingale, and I would never call it safe. here's a fantastic strategy for you op, just stay off of dice sites.

I guess it is safe enough if you do it slowly, like set the max winning. 0.01 per day is great amount if you can manage it well so stay off from dice site is not a good idea since you can earn much from dice site. Usually I use martingale or roll manually, depends on my luck

i have been using a lot of martingale strategies lately with a somewhat big bankroll and starting from 0.00000001 BTC and with different sorts of multiplier to have lower or higher chances of wining and as a result different increases to cover the loses .

but in dice martingale no matter what sort of martingale strategy i choose i always end up losing more in just one second where i roll all reds.

all strategy are going to lose in seconds or minutes coz eventually you're going to hit a bad luck.. Its just calling when to stop and get out in profit..

yeah i know but i have a plan to test different ways to use martingale just for the fun of it. i have invested some bitcoin and i am putting a lot of time to test my theories .

p.s. my theories was not successful so far Cheesy

21598  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Citibank set to destroy Bitcoin with Citicoin on: July 21, 2015, 08:22:18 AM
According to this vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdIOrMYWBIY the citigroup is developing it's own coin

an altcoin that is a copy of another altcoin which was created to imitate bitcoin and worst of all on top of that it is being controlled by a "Bank".

your topic is so ridiculous , how can such a thing even come close to bitcoin. it is centralized for gods sake.
21599  Other / Off-topic / Re: Worst mistake you did with Bitcoin? on: July 21, 2015, 08:08:11 AM
i think i have made all the mistakes possible so far except for investing in cloudminings.

i have gambled my bitcoins and lost and i have a little regret now but not going to stop Cheesy

i also have invested in a lot of altcoins which some of them lost their value and lead to big loses, but at the end of the day i am happy with my overall trade related profits.

and as for cloudmining i have never trusted any of them or any person except myself with my money so i was safe that way and never lost any bitcoin in cloudmining.
i have only bought GHs at cex.io back when they were working (before pause) and that was mostly because of GHs price rise so i guess that counts towards trading.
21600  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Bitcoin is just like as a Swiss Bank Acc for holding black money ?? on: July 21, 2015, 08:03:59 AM
well, bitcoin is nothing like a bank account , when you have your money in bitcoin it truly is in your control not in anybody else's hands. while money in the bank can be controlled by the government , exactly like what is currently happening in Greece.

and as for security , bitcoin wallet can be as secure as a bank vault and created in a way that nobody can crack it open. so in case of security i think they can be the same since for securing bitcoin you have to rely on your own the level of security is going to differ person to person.
