But oh well, maybe it picks up when more and more ppl use lightning
Instead of running a node to earn from, you can use it for your own payments.
I haven't installed a LN node yet, light wallets work fine for me.

I'll run it just to see how it work and the process behind it. as for my own payments, i don't do many of them, so few $ a month in transactions is ok for me at this point
2162  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it worth hosting a lightning node? on: June 17, 2020, 03:09:39 PM
Take this with a grain of salt as Xian01  tried this "experiment" in Jul 2018. Different values may have changed meantime

...
How much money can you make on running a Lightning Network node?

In order to start making money on running a node, you have to open a few channels and encourage others to open a channel back. Keep in mind that built-in autopilot might not guarantee you the best connections. Don’t expect to make a lot of money. Everything depends on the number of connections and your fee policy. The less you charge, the higher your chances to route a payment are. Don’t set the fee too low. You have to save up money for future channel re-balancing. User Xian01 opened almost 200 channels and earned barely 15 satoshis after 2 weeks (Reference).
...

Damn this is discouraging. 15 satoshi in 2 weeks...wouldn't even be worth the cost if BTC was $1m.
But oh well, maybe it picks up when more and more ppl use lightning
2163  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it worth hosting a lightning node? on: June 17, 2020, 02:43:11 PM
i have been hearing of hosting the lightening network from a very close friend of mine in the space and i am checking out if it is well enough to get one's attention. how can one make money out of it and also what kind of devices are needed to host the nodes. and also the electricity bills involved, is it as sophisticated as the bitcoin network itself

You need a decent sized PC (1-2 cores, 4-8 GB ram, 500+ GB of disk).
Basically you set up bitcoin node there (wait about a week to sync) and then install the lightning part.

It's not easy-peasy yet it's not rocket science.
As for electricity, it depends on what you use
2164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it worth hosting a lightning node? on: June 17, 2020, 12:32:30 PM
You can create a Lightning Network node to support the network and you cannot profit from it. The returns may be insufficient to pay the electricity bill, but you can gain enough experience and expertise regarding the technology.

Electricity cost is insignificant, around $5 per month as it would run on raspberry. However, biggest investment would be a 500GB (1TB) usb hard disk where the blockchain would be stored.

Probaj. No ne bi se cudio da ce te nakon 10 dolazaka ipak pitat "alo decko, daj dokumente"
2167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it worth hosting a lightning node? on: June 17, 2020, 12:05:58 PM
If you're looking to make money off it, then no. You're going to make so little(probably lower than collecting sats on faucets) that it isn't worth doing unless you just want to try it out.

Thats what i was thinking as well. Since lightning fees are usually 1-2 satoshis at best.
2168  Other / Off-topic / Re: What should one do in bad situation on: June 17, 2020, 11:41:01 AM
I would

1. Pray
2. Ask my family & friends for assistance, depending on what it is.
3. Seek assistance from governmental departments and/or charity organizations depending on what I need.

No offence, but that's as helpful as facebook likes....
2169  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Is it worth hosting a lightning node? on: June 17, 2020, 11:37:13 AM
So I've recently seen a video and read an article that explains how to host a lightning node on raspberry pi3.
Aside from the benefit of strengthening the ecosystem and helping the technology in general, is it financially worth doing?

Has anyone done it? Can you share some info on gains?
2170  Economy / Economics / Re: I tried money making apps! on: June 17, 2020, 11:08:44 AM
Hi folks,

So while shopping while I was bored in my previous post I ended up spending too much money… So I started to look for alternatives on how to earn more money cuz payday is still far away.

I decided to try popular money making apps.

It was an interesting experience and it got me through the week. In the end I thought it would make an interesting article, which I managed to publish on Paybis.

In case you are interested, you can check it out here: https://paybis.com/blog/best-money-making-apps/

If you have any ideas which other apps I should add please let me know.

And share your experience with them as well.

Thanks and see you around after this quarantine ends!

So how much did you make in total after 1 month of using them?

Hey Mr Vosk.
Your video on passive income actually made me try out crypto.com. To be fair, i used my friends referral code, not yours (sorry) but i'm thankful none the less for providing some clarity into their mechanics and possiblities.

TLDR; Cheers and keep up the good work

So what's your criteria based on which you decide who gets an angel investment, and who doesn't?
Can you be more transparent please

Zar nije da sada mozes kupiti BTC i poslati ga na drugi wallet? Il sam krivo shvatio?

Čini mi se da si krivo shvatio. Na njihovoj stranici piše:

Please note that during this initial phase of integration, we do not support transferring cryptocurrency interest to outside of the Revolut platform eg. to an external wallet.

Well if you want a cheap and transparent VPN, and by transparent i mean blockchain based, i'd go no further than Orchid.

@Red Golpe and @btcltcdigger I think anyone would be anxious to wait even a minute longer than the max of 18 hours that BV publishes. I'm also okay to wait days if it really does take that long to get the cold storage out and send me. I know I got anxious after waiting 2 days for mine -- I think this all started from the day that one guy got about 20 btc was it?

But yeah, be real nice to get some clarification to put everyone at ease. I'm an investor so not about to w/d but would be good to know if I needed it urgently I could have it back quick.

Well i assume cold wallet is something like a ledger which requires a person to plug it in, and transfer.
And when a human is involved in the process, you know, life happens. Maybe he's on holiday, or affected by covid-19, maybe his GF dumped him and he's suicidal....who knows

Yes, a well known scam that's been plagueing the internet for quite some time.
Usually when i see it, i immediately report it as terrorism and child abuse

The problem is they are scared to put more money in hot wallet... always dealys
They are scared for good reason. I, for one, feel safer knowing that my money is on a cold wallet and I am fine if I have to wait a couple of days for a withdrawal. My only suggestion would be to get rid of the 18-hour notice on the website.

Ditto. I'd rather wait 7 days than risk losing it. Especially for anything more than 0.1 BTC
