Amazing how shipping deadlines of their own making seem to bring out the true colors of these vaporware vendors. Hey thanks at least for dropping the phony professionalism BitSyncom.
2162  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: January 29, 2013, 08:07:42 PM
I guess it depends how high we go.
i think if we go above 40$ the down trend that fallows will be eternal...

I'm sure that is about as likely to be true as the prediction that "breaking through 19 is simply impossible".  Wink
i was wrong...

today i can saw with confidence that breaking through 20 is simply impossible

 Smiley

Sure. It's happened before, but now it's impossible!

Did you forget to wave your hand and utter the words "this is not the wall you're looking for"?

I've finished triggering refunds for all CC orders in the system on both bitcoinasic.com and btcfpga.com.  The system tries to send emails when I change the status for each order, so you should get an email.  We've already seen that some mails don't go out, especially when sending so many in a short time.  If you had a CC order with us you should see a refund related email or be able to see the status of your order has changed to Refunded.

Remaining:
136 BTC order refunds
106 BTC order refunds (already sent to Tom for payment)

I will now move into reconciling the BTC payments made already and then create a master list of BTC refunds that I will give to Tom.  I plan to provide him with the USD value of the order and BTC payment address - it will be up to Tom to decide what exchange rate to convert these to.

I received the company's second 7770 yesterday and set it to work mining so we'll see some additional profit from it today. Hash rate is presently just shy of 2100, but I believe I can squeeze a bit more out of our GPUs at least while the cold weather holds.
2165  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Avalon ASIC] Batch #2 pre-Sale Thread on: January 29, 2013, 07:19:48 PM
I am concerned enough with Avalon that I am willing to part with my 3 Avalons from Batch #1.

I was wondering when this would start. While I respect ngzhang for the great work he has done with Icarus (as I do BFL for their work with their FPGA products), the handling and current state of this 'Avalon situation' gives me pause.

Avalon may well turn out to be legit (I'm not suggesting otherwise), but to any impartial observer there are a lot of red flags not only with the Batch 2 pre-order, but with the status of Batch 1.

Much of this FUD could/can easily be avoided with better communication by the Avalon team.

Sadly, that seems to be a recurring theme with all the ASIC vendors. Roll Eyes
2166  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Batch #1 Ships on: January 29, 2013, 07:00:47 PM
After all this I've decided I'm sick of the nonsense and I'm starting my own unicorn ASIC company.

Excellent, count me interested! Just a couple of questions.

1) What are the real risks associated with Elmer FUD crashing the party and causing shipping delays?
2) Where do I send my MONEY!
2167  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on [BTC-TC] on: January 29, 2013, 06:15:15 PM
Avalon. Thursday. If you dare. Halloween in January.

Begin to calculate:
Avalon have get $60 for shipping from customer!
That's never enough for this 20-30 (?) kg Box for international shipping!
The costs with DHL or EMS are min. $250.-/unit!

Means 300units x $190(dif) = $57'000.- extra cost for Avalon! (even higher!)

I think, Avalon still looks for cheaper shipping routes, because they don't have the money for shipping!
And by the cheap shippers you dont't get tracking numbers! (But the boat needs 2 month to EU or USA  Wink )

Umm...you're suggesting they couldn't be bothered to calculate actual shipping charges before now AND they're too embarrassed to admit this so they're instead shipping $1300 ASIC devices internationally by canoe?

Color me skeptical.

no proof, no order. i am scam intolerant. i have a disorder which does not allow me to send money to strangers without seeing proof.

Next you'll imply that carnival games are rigged...sheesh.
2171  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Avalon ASIC] Batch #2 pre-Sale Thread on: January 29, 2013, 05:36:12 PM
My bet would be on a fast sell-out of batch 2, regardless.

I will pay $10,000 for the list of names, their addresses, and phone numbers of each and every person who orders Batch #2 from Avalon. This is a sincere offer. No bullshit! I'll put together a deal they can't refuse, only available to those on the list.

  • Bitcoin Only: My suppliers only accept bitcoins. Sorry 'bout this one.
  • No Refunds: I have to fully custom built this shit from chicken scratch.
  • No Proof: QED!

I just purchased shares of Bounty, for when Josh sees this thread he'll be squirtin' his computer, and will need mega-sheets to absorb the mess made.

Madness!

Thanks a whole lot for the visual PG.

These things once read cannot be unread ya know. Cry

...in that case I'd think it'd be real nice to know when to expect it...
2173  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon is (unfortunately) a scam. Here is why. on: January 29, 2013, 05:22:53 PM
You know they'll fill that 2nd batch in hours right? Even with this total PR fail...
2174  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Avalon ASIC] Batch #2 pre-Sale Thread on: January 29, 2013, 05:10:35 PM
Just when you thought BFL was the least professional company on Earth...suddenly a new contender for the crown emerges. Sad

This is too much, they can keep their batches. Fear >>> Greed^5 after this nonsense.
2175  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon is (unfortunately) a scam. Here is why. on: January 29, 2013, 04:31:30 PM
If anyone should post the tracking number, it's Jeff, but to be honest if I were in his position I would not post this number.

What I *MIGHT* do is make a post saying "I'm Jeff, I've received the tracking number and I'm tracking the package. It sure seems like SOMETHING is on its way to me."

Last I heard he(Jeff) had specifically said he had NOT received any tracking information, though Avalon claims to have spent $400 to get the package shipped. I'm having trouble reconciling these statements.
2176  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Avalon ASIC] Batch #2 pre-Sale Thread on: January 29, 2013, 04:26:11 PM
When my 1st-batch Avalons arrive I'll happily share photos and details with everyone, although I imagine by that time we'll all know the details thanks to Jeff and/or the Foundation.[/list][/list]

You got any tracking information for that? Can anybody prove that Avalon has shipped anything at all?
2177  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon is (unfortunately) a scam. Here is why. on: January 29, 2013, 04:08:55 PM
Taking a risk to be at the cutting edge is not a problem. They're asking everyone to discount what they've said previously and suspend their own common sense...this is a problem. None of this passes the smell test, but I doubt they'll have much trouble finding 500 people to send them $1500.
      2178  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Avalon ASIC] Batch #2 pre-Sale Thread on: January 29, 2013, 03:49:28 PM
...and this is the respectable ASIC vendor. Holy crap. Roll Eyes

Order NOW! Don't wait for the proof we promised! HURRY HURRY HURRY! WE NEED MONEY! RUN don't walk!
2179  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mega reseler accepting bitcoin!!! on: January 29, 2013, 03:27:27 PM
The DOJ is harmless...unless you mess with their $16 muffins.

      Credibility check

On the bright side, everyone who believes bitcoin still has a future will probably get to buy some for pennies on the dollar by Christmas.  Merry Christmas everyone!

Price at the time : $2.25.

Consider him a contrarian indicator. Smiley
