2161  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Money laundering via BTC on: January 09, 2017, 07:17:24 AM
Is it possible to do money laundering via bitcoin? I mean as no one knows if you have bitcoin and how much bitcoin do you actually own, it could be used to convert black money to white right? Or at least store your black money without much hassle. But there is the risk of its value but I think for people who have lots of black money and don't want to be caught, this risk might be worth taking for them isn't it?
What are your thoughts?

Absolutely yes  and now is the right time to launder your dirty money via Bitcoin because with the price higher than before, it will take a smaller amount of coins to use. BTC is also in the grey area when it comes to its legitimacy and how the governments of different countries view it, so its very easy to find a legal loophole.
2162  Economy / Marketplace / Re: What Computer Games You Wish to Buy with BTC cheaper? on: January 09, 2017, 07:07:07 AM
Hi, I am planning to open a computer games store and accept Bitcoin.

What games you wish to buy?

How do you prefer the games to be delivered - digital or offline delivery?

What ideas and suggestions do you have?

Thank you all for the opinions!

For BTC purchases in games the best recourse is to go with digital delivery or downloads. It is very convenient and very easy.

I hope you'll give good discounts. I would surely love to get some at a cheaper price. If you want to know what other BTC services give discounts if purchases are made in BTC just go look at purse.io for an idea.
2163  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What type of wallet do you use? on: January 09, 2017, 07:00:49 AM
I am using web wallet because i think it is the best option for me i can convert cash to bitcoin instantly or bitcoin to cash, pay bills like electric, water bills using that web wallet also i can cashout cash anytime i like using those remittance center that are available in that web wallet and lastly i like the support they really help whenever you need them.

So you earn enough BTC to pay all your monthly bills? Im curious what your job is. Does it pay in BTC? If it does it would be nice of you to tell us where you work or what website you work in. Signature campaigns are not enough to pay the bills.
2164  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Dark marketplaces? on: January 08, 2017, 09:33:47 AM
Dark marketplaces are coming up a lot these days but its not something that is wrong of course, its just how you look at it.
It's something wrong in the perspective of normies because it's against laws and having sort of things that could violate other people rights, and i think that dark marketplaces is not coming that lot this day because it's "marketplace" people who provide "Dark" services gathering themselves there to offer the service

Violate other people's rights? What? Arent the laws themselves are what violate our rights to do whatever we want? BTC is giving us back our right to do what we want with our money without any constraints. There are a lot of retarded comments in this thread that probably come from people who dont really care what BTC is really all about.
2165  Economy / Marketplace / Re: How can we encourage local businesses to accept BTC? on: January 08, 2017, 09:28:20 AM
Thats not a problem. They pass the payment of these fees to the customers. Ever wonder why the stores give you a discount whenever you pay them in cash? Its not really a discount. Its the real price. You pay more when you use your credit card because it is you who the fees themselves.

don't know where you live but having been on multiple european countries that's not really the case, although many have a minimum purchase amount for paying with cc.
Also if they're giving you a discount when paying with cash its mostly because they're probably not going to register that sale and pay the corresponding tax..

In what European countries do they avoid paying sales tax? Thats Europe, they dont condone such practices. Maybe you are from a third world country where avoiding taxes is rampant because your government is very inefficient in collecting them.

It is a known fact that the consumers themselves pay for the credit card fees. So I dont know what planet you're from.
2166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What type of wallet do you use? on: January 08, 2017, 09:22:21 AM
I would say that there is a benefit of using Core and running transactions through your own node for privacy reasons; but since bitcoin is quite transparent in where transactions are going too, there is no real reason besides to help support the reliability of the network.

I use MultiBit for Desktop mostly and Breadwallet for mobile... both are quite good and reliable in terms of being able to control your own private keys.

If someone is interested in running a full node what is the ideal set up for it in terms of hard drive size and amount of bandwidth? I read around the forum and most comments Ive seen is that no one really wants to run their own node anymore because it is costly.
2167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What type of wallet do you use? on: January 07, 2017, 10:39:01 AM
I only have a small stash of BTC so I use Electrum. Maybe if I grow my stash to 20 BTC or more I might think about buying a hardware wallet. Preferably a Trezor. Keepkey was my first choice but after the news that they were hacked I changed my mind.
2168  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Dark marketplaces? on: January 07, 2017, 10:08:50 AM
Why not something like openbazaar? Instead of using the term 'dark' (which causes a negative view) why not use the term 'open'?

So what would that do? Attract your mom or grandma to buy cocaine and meth because its not a darknet market but an open market online? Its called the darknet market because it is specifically that, dark. Calling it something else would not change that fact.
2169  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Are Online Wallets safe ? on: January 07, 2017, 10:01:42 AM
Coinbase don't even give you control on your private keys so Its a service to avoid unless you are trading bitcoins then you should withdraw instantly just after buying or selling.
Blockchain.info no longer gives control over your private keys , at least not a newbie friendly way and It got removed from bitcoin.org for some security requirements that they didn't meet. I would use btc.com which is acquired by bitmain or stick to desktop wallets such as Multibit or Electrum.

What security requirements did blockchain.info miss? I still use them and have been using them for a very long time. My personal experience is overall good with no serious complaints. There were a couple of times when I couldnt connect to the site but it hardly came to anything serious like losing some BTC.

What do you think of greenaddress.it? Are they safe to use? Are the founders trustworthy?

From the Github repository of bitcoin.org : https://github.com/bitcoin-dot-org/bitcoin.org/pull/663#issuecomment-65656828
I believe that greenaddress.it are secure enough and give you control on your private keys but some reasons , not enough people are using it. Its probably due the fact that people are used to blockchain.info and keep recommending it to each other.

Thanks for the link. I have read the reviews. Most of the issues are from 3 years ago. Surely blockchain.info must have fixed them and have improved their security ever since? We have not heard of any breaches or any funds lost as of late.
2170  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Merry Christmas everybody. Is somebody know how to contact Butterfly Lab? on: January 07, 2017, 09:57:34 AM
Merry Christmas everybody!

I know I am a fool. I tried to buy miner from Butterfly Lab and sent them 7k+ usd. Morn then 4 years now. I couldn't contact them from 2015 may. From email they never answer, from website you will never sent massage successful.

Christmas again. Is there somebody kindly tell me how can I contact them or some suggest?

God bless Butterfly Lab.

God bless everyone.

Thanks
A bit late. Butterfly labs never delivered on their promises and many people essentially lost their money. You should have we after this earlier if you were serious.

What Im curious about was if they were a scam from the very beginning or did they have intentions of delivering their products but have failed to do so? Its very hard to tell sometimes and I hope some of you would care to enlighten us newbies here in the forum.

The butterfly lab delivered some miners at the very beginning, but until 2014, a lot of orders had been delayed and refund requests had been delayed, until nothing.

They should have declared bankruptcy in order to protect themselves from any legal issues from their customers. The fact that they didnt makes me think that they have no experience of running a business. A lawyer to advice them is must in any business.
2171  Economy / Marketplace / Re: How can we encourage local businesses to accept BTC? on: January 07, 2017, 09:54:17 AM
Its more like the business owners dont need to accept BTC. Accepting fiat and credit cards works fine and smoothly for them so why is there a need add BTC. How will that be an advantage to them? All the Bitcoiners in this thread doesnt even spend that much in BTC anyway.

to accept credit cards they have to rent equipment, pay higher fee rates and most importantly, have to wait for the payment processor to credit their account, since payments don't go directly from the customer to the owner's bank account.

Thats not a problem. They pass the payment of these fees to the customers. Ever wonder why the stores give you a discount whenever you pay them in cash? Its not really a discount. Its the real price. You pay more when you use your credit card because it is you who pay for the fees themselves.

i don't think that we can help them, they have to decide on their own

Yes we can, we can encourage them. We can explain them what are the benefits, like those related to taxes or that they will maybe easier find bitcoin investors then fiat investors or that with using bitcoins they could be more competitive. There are risks too, ofw course, but it's worth trying.
Businesses owners prefer to stay out of trouble, if you begin to say to them they can avoid taxes with bitcoin they are going to avoid bitcoin even more since they prefer to pay their taxes than to risk their investment in their business.

Its more like the business owners dont need to accept BTC. Accepting fiat and credit cards works fine and smoothly for them so why is there a need add BTC. How will that be an advantage to them? All the Bitcoiners in this thread doesnt even spend that much in BTC anyway.
2175  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Is "tipping" worth? on: January 06, 2017, 08:39:33 AM
Tipping was mostly good at the beginning when BTC wasnt that popular. I achieved a few things like the recepient of those tips had a chance to try the new technology. At the same time it helped spread the word about BTC and tipping was partly what made it popular. The legendary stories of the 10,000 BTC pizza also helped in its rise to fame.
How we could forget the guy that bought pizza with bitcoin, what do you think he is thinking now that the price of bitcoin seems to go to an all time high? He could have millions of dollars by now.

That guys name is Roger Ver also known as the Bitcoin Jesus if I have my facts right. Hes still a millionaire and have invested millions in different BTC companies. Im sure he doesnt regret buying those pizzas with 10,000 BTC.

Wrong, Roger Ver was not the pizza guy. It was Laszlo Hanyecz (laszlo), it happened here on bitcointalk:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=137.msg1141#msg1141

See his last posts from 2014, he claims to have spent it all on those 2 pizzas. But at least someone tipped him 1 btc.

Thanks for correcting me. Well then if he spend all the BTC he had in those 2 pizza pies then he should be recognized as one of the biggest failures in the world of Bitcoin. I have heard some people in the forum say that they regret not making the decision to buy BTC way back in 2011 and they are kicking themselves about it. Laszlo Hanyecz must be thinking of killing himself.

2178  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: KeepKey 30 BTC reward for capturing the hacker ! on: January 05, 2017, 07:14:34 AM
Is this one of those attempts to drive down the price again? I swear that hacks like these tend to happen a lot when BTC is reaching important milestones in its development and value. Is there really a conspiracy behind this and should we be worried? Maybe we should withdraw our coins from the exchanges just to be safe. I feel like there will be a serious hack in one of the popular and bigger exchanges soon.
I do not know about a conspiracy, but i just opened a thread and explained, that it makes sense to me that as a hacker you wait, with everything in place for the hack, for the price to increase. So now is a good time for hackers.

I just wonder about the amount of the bounty. Is it much? Is this how much this data and the customer is worth to KeepKey?

30 BTC is ok if you want to help out and get something in return. But if Keepkey really wanted to catch the hacker they should offer a higher bounty and not something announced in public. Most of these bounty offers are only good for appeasing their customers so that they could pretend they are doing something to find the hacker.

It is a possibility that such announcement is just a show-off to cover up their shortcomings. They are a very big company and can equip themselves them a very firm anti-hacking security devices and softwares into their system. The fact that they are being hacked simply means that they are not well equipped in this kind of business or possibly theres an insider within the site itself.

Why do you think that they are a big company? There are not, they are a start up. In fact most of the BTC companies have never made it past the series B funding round. So before you make a comment, step back and think first.
2179  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Do any one knows about Hashstrom on: January 04, 2017, 10:19:33 AM
Hi guys, actually around 8months back i saw some cloud mining site reviews in that hashstrom was in top 3. so i have desired to invest some amount in top 3 sites. for trailing purpose i have invested 10$ in Hashstrom. it was worked properly for two to 3 months and they send btc to my wallet also. but from last couple of months that site is not opening and site it self it is not available.
Here just i want to know.
1) Is any one invested on hashstrom..?
2)is there any chance to rerun that site by the founders..?

Again and again these cloud mining sites still keep scamming BTC newbies and get away with it. Please post the link to their website. Lets see how its set up and how they lure the community to give them some money.
2180  Economy / Marketplace / Re: How can we encourage local businesses to accept BTC? on: January 04, 2017, 10:03:13 AM
This thread has gone full retard with posts and ideas being repeated over and over. Lets all face it ladies and gentlemen, convincing local businesses to accept BTC in a massive scale that would matter is a lost cause. Convincing illegal online businesses to accept BTC on the other hand, is a different story.
