2161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Xmas promo pool scam on: December 24, 2019, 02:26:49 AM
I don't know when people would learn that such high yield investment is probably a scam. And they could just have looked at the market quickly to see that such profit is not guaranteed, since we are in a volatile market. Newcomers should also be aware of this before even investing any amount to cryptocurrency.

And the best type of investment is go directly to the source rather than have a middleman in which you can't trust your funds into. Buying Bitcoin is pretty easy with exchanges everywhere.
2162  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has gone up the past week. on: December 24, 2019, 01:08:40 AM
It was much better if you have been able to buy on sub-7k USD to secure your gains. Though it's still not too late, buying now has also the risks of the price dumping, though if you plan to invest long-term, then it's not a bad decision to make. Once you hit your target gains, you could bail out anytime as to not risk losing more when you're driven withg greed once the bubble starts.
2163  Economy / Economics / Re: Reflections from a journalist of a Year of Toying With Bitcoin on: December 23, 2019, 01:44:48 PM
Though Lightning Network looks promising to be honest, but drawbacks are to be expected. It does improve over time, but he might be correct that it's still not ready to scale that much to accomodate being used as a payment medium for all-scale transactions. Still, it doesn't necessarily mean that Bitcoin could not grow. There are still works to be done, and the progress is ongoing. It doesn't stay stagnant as far as I know.
2164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Price Trend Reversal in Progress? on: December 23, 2019, 11:25:35 AM
That could just be the manipulators in the market, or a trend reversal in short-term, and could still dump back. I still don't see any reason for it to go a continuous uptrend, and instead it would be short-lived. The halving is still almost 5 months away, and I expect the lows to be between February and March.

It could be the recent news about 21e800 hash, but it's just another hype scheme without guaranteed long-term effects, unless they really did what they speculated what deos is doing, which could be a groundbreaking, market driving factor if proven true.
2165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin on 3rd January? on: December 23, 2019, 09:01:57 AM
It could be just another hype scheme, though the possibilities are still there. 21e8 could just have been generated by pure chance and people overly hyped such phenomena, that Desantis took advantage of. Also, quantum computer is no joke, even Google's team only managed to do one with lower performance as it was expected to have. Nevertheless, it's just 10 days from now, and I'm seeing it as either a hype scheme, or just a celebration stuff.
2166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [GUIDE] Tips on securing our emails on: December 23, 2019, 03:06:18 AM
Great tips for added security. In summary, just have two email accounts, one to be your main, and the other for those unreputable sites you sign up into. Although you must always remember the password for your second account, and having to remeber two accounts on which one you used on a site could be quite difficult at start, but it takes time to get used to.
2167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hacker: Sentenced two year suspended jail term, & six-month electronic curfew on: December 22, 2019, 01:28:56 PM
It's just a typical bluff. Some people does really think they could get away with such stunt. However, they leak their own data and make their own trap by commiting mistakes that spills their true skills in terms of such acts.

Either they're desperate, or they underestimate these companies, or they're just too confident. They must have thought too much of those real hackers/exploiters that did impact the systems significantly, leading them to be hired by the company they exploited.
2168  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin to $5k? Tone Vays on: December 22, 2019, 11:21:47 AM
His speculation could make sense since whales are always there, ready to dump the prices once again before the actual halving. I just thought that he is too pro-Bitcoin. He holds on it to his life, and that could instill bias on his opinions. And although no one could really predict the price trend after the halving, it would most likely to be bullish since it has been observed in the past.
2169  Economy / Speculation / Re: What’s your expectation on 2020 Halving year?! on: December 22, 2019, 09:03:05 AM
I expect another pump, and quite possibly high enough to be comparable to that on 2017. I say so because there is quite evident true adoption on the market, and several news pop up stating various cryptocurrency adoption. And while it doesn't really pertain to Bitcoin specifically, it might still drive the prices up once these crypto-projects by various countries come to public, in time with the halving.
2170  Economy / Speculation / Re: Question for the Speculators... (experiment) on: December 22, 2019, 02:53:02 AM
I'd say that neither. We can't really predict since the his win or loss totally relies on pure chance or luck. And also depends on the timeframe. If he would go long-term, then chances are higher that he would gain due to the halving, but it's always not guaranteed. If he did go short-term, then there's higher chance he would lose more than he could earn.
2171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Outclasses Other Cryptocurrencies as an Investment Option, Here’s Why on: December 22, 2019, 12:58:48 AM
Not much of a surprise. When they looked at 'cryptocurrencies', they would surely look at the most popular one, the Bitcoin. And even though it's good to look as an investment, it fails if people looked at it as a medium of payment, especially for smaller transactions. They would know the weaknesses of Bitcoin, in which Ethereum could shine. As of now, it's seen as an investment, but the main goal is to see it as another usable currency applicable to all scales of transactions.
2172  Economy / Economics / Re: Your plan if no significant move on Bitcoin price along with the halving? on: December 21, 2019, 02:48:37 PM
Good question. I never really have thought about this that much since I'm more positive in Bitcoin's halving. But in case it didn't turn out as expected, I might still hold my coins for long-term investment. I also do believe that adoption is difficult to avoid, and we are in the verge of using digital currencies such as cryptocurrencies in our daily lives. In which case, having stock of coins stored on my wallet is always a good idea.
2173  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin could be 6000$ soon give us your opinion on: December 21, 2019, 12:01:14 PM
Even though no one could really predict the prices, I'm feeling that it wouldn't go that low. As of now, Bitcoin trades right above $7100 and does not show any sign of going weak, unless another dump would happen (which is either because of a news breaking out or a whale dumping his holdings).

It already experience almost new lows on $6600 and it recovered quite instantly. We can't make good assumptions on reasons why since it's unregulated market. My only speculation is that it would continue an uptrend after this year end, that would continue until months after the halving.
2174  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Teen crook hacked into 75 phones and stole $1M in cryptocurrency: authorities on: December 21, 2019, 10:08:38 AM
It's a common exploit. Even the CEO of Twitter has been victim of such method, though only used to manipulate his Twitter account. I think the problem relies on the SIM service providers. They should impose restrictions on who can only make valid SIM swap to their accounts. If in that point, it is already secure, then these types of hacks would be lessen.
2175  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is This Why Bitcoin Suddenly Rebounded Yesterday? on: December 21, 2019, 09:23:54 AM
I think what most people believe is that it is all tied up, but no concrete evidence is to be found. They believe that hash rates correlates to the price of Bitcoin, and also hash rates is connected with the cost of mining, in which also is connected with the current price. Still, there are no studies to be found that proves such theoretical statement. There are still a lot of factors, the market is volatile and whales could manipulate any time they wish.
2176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the difference? on: December 20, 2019, 05:19:28 AM
It could be the same in terms of use, but the implementation could be different. Hence the name 'crypto' currency, this type of currency relies on transparency (blockchain), security (cryptography), and validity (irreversible transactions).

On the contrary, digital fiat could still run the same way of centralization as a centralized blockchain, but is more private, and could have ammendments and modifications more easily than a hashed linked list of blocks offer.
2177  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Question and Traditional Markets on: December 20, 2019, 04:16:52 AM
Your desired scenario could be possible in the future, only if the governments finally accept and adopt bitcoin as a legal currency. Then at that time, stock exchanges would give option to pay using cryptocurrency, or have a trading pair with BTC/Share.

Though that scenario is still far from happening. There are lots of hinders to such adoption. At one point, the government wants to mint their own coin and release it to the public, to still give them control over the currency.
2178  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bakkt’s Cash Settled Bitcoin Futures on 7 Day Volume Pump on: December 20, 2019, 03:06:21 AM
Though it's still up for debate. The CEO securing a seat in the senate is still up for debate, whether that would be surely go positive on cryptocurrencies, or she has other plans in mind, or that she might get influenced by power and make decisions that would benefit her, instead of cryptocurrencies.

In terms of price trend, it hasn't really affected it significantly either. Market sentiment is split up, some argue and some supports. Either way, it does have some potential, it just doesn't translate that well on the prices as of now.
2179  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hong Kong Police Freeze $10M Fund for Protesters - Bitcoin Becomes Attractive on: December 20, 2019, 02:04:14 AM
If in any case they use Bitcoin to transact, then they would need to find suppliers that are directly accepting Bitcoin as payment. Because if not, it's still useless, because they wouldn't be able to cash it out on exchanges (assuming that exchanges there are also locked/restricted).

All transactions need to flow only on cryptocurrencies, and away from fiat. That's the only way they could succeed.
2180  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are American tax laws holding Bitcoin back? on: December 19, 2019, 02:30:44 PM
It doesn't change that much. Even without tax, it is still used, and considered by most people as store of value. Bitcoin still hasn't found an effective solution for addressing scalability. Lightning network looks promising though, but comes with drawbacks such as some point of centralization is introduced. If Bitcoin could surpass that limitation, then I think it would progress much faster, and demand would be real by that time.
