Wars have gotten progressively less real as societies develop. The next war will occur on tv. Remember it has been more than 70 years since primitive scientists first developed a nuke. 20 years later even 3rd world countries had them and not long after that a scientist publicized a recipe for dictators to make a nuke. So the problem now is not 'how to attack a country', it is 'how not to piss off the mentally ill'. If a country offends too many educated people the leaders of that country run the risk of glowing in the dark. What is the solution to avoid a stagnating period at this level? The only solution is to study the psychology of wars and realize that it is only physical space that makes safety. So the solution will come with the expansion of real estate markets into outer space. I will not say that large scale outer space human habitation will not be theoretically possible in the distant future. But the expenses associated with it will prevent individuals and corporations from doing that. |
