21621  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tumblers don't actually work... do they? on: July 23, 2015, 05:11:50 AM
I've attempted to understand the technicalities of blockchain analysis, but some basic yet critical piece seems to have escaped me. Even if one could theoretically tumble their coins a enough times and remove all taint, why would it matter if someone is tracking you already? If they know you have a wallet with dirty coins, don't they "have your number" and could follow your transactions regardless of whether the BTC in your wallet are dirty anymore or not?

if the mixing service is doing their job properly it is impossible to trace those transactions to the source. because for example when you enter some bitcoin (10BTC) in one address and you get the same amount in a couple of addresses with different amounts (1BTC) it can not be traces with amounts entering and exiting.

additionally you can add time difference between then , for example you get the first 2BTC now and get 5BTC after an hour and the rest tomorrow. all in different addresses and different amounts. i don't see any way to trace these.
21622  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your first bitcoins came from.. (faucets aside) on: July 23, 2015, 05:01:44 AM
My first bitcoins came from Primedice signature campaign way back September 2014. From then on, I started to buy a little amount of btc every month and I have never failed to do so for the past 10 months.

How'd you get your first bitcoins (faucets aside) and what did you do to them?

my first bitcoin came from my one of friends who introduced me to bitcoin. he created the wallets and everything for me and showed me how it worked and gave me my first bitcoins just to start me off.

today the rest of my bitcoin income is coming from signature campaign and trading altcoins now. also i try to buy some bitcoin whenever i can and feel the price is right for me.
21623  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New 0.00001 spam attack on: July 23, 2015, 04:57:56 AM
Except for people who want micropayments (and, um, that's what these appear to be, LOTS of them), I still have not seen ANY convincing arguments against the idea of raising minimums:
1) minimum BTC sent to, say, BTC0.001
and/or
2) minimum transaction fee to, say, BTC0.0002
I would rather have a robust BTC Ecosystem that gets my payments through in good time than worry about sending amounts of less than US$0.20.............

you are asking for a change in the system so you should provide valid argument and convince others to accept your proposal . anybody else is ok with the current fees and how things are working, especially now that the test / spam attack is over things are normal again.

besides nobody is forced to use the standard fee, if you prefer higher chance of getting confirmation you can increase the fees of your own transactions.
21624  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: best way for earning bitcoins on: July 23, 2015, 04:29:33 AM
i think best way to earn bitcoin
trading and gambling ( if your luck)

gambling isnt earning, gambling is gambling. trading however, depends on how experienced you are. working is always the most reliable way to earn though Smiley

i don't really understand why do people insist on considering gambling as a way of earning money!
ofcource we have professional gamblers who earn a lot of money from gambling but they are not playing chance games , they are doing it by using their skills in something like poker which requires skills more than chance.
and the rest who are gambling , especially in complete chance games like dice are just losing money in general. and win some little times.
21625  Economy / Gambling / Re: Gambling sites' max payout on: July 23, 2015, 04:14:07 AM
has anybody really get the max payout like the 9900x or 64000x in any sort of gambling dice?
yes if he know how to play Wink it's possible but it's so hard

what exactly do you mean "you know how to play"?!!!

it is gambling on a dice site it is not the how, it is just chance and specially on the max payout multiplier , it is just a teeny tiny chance of winning. you can win on your first bet or even never. and there is nothing you can do to change that.
21626  Economy / Gambling / Re: 100,000 Satoshi EVERY HOUR! on: July 23, 2015, 04:04:23 AM
Its highly unlikely to hit the jackpot. And you are pretty much better off just GPU mining these Satoshi's then going thru the trouble of going with the free faucet.

is it even still possible to GPU mine?
besides you are forgetting about the electricity bill that you have to pay if you decide to mine , and not to mention lowering the lifetime of your graphic card.
not saying faucets are better choice but something like this with a jackpot can be nice if it really is paying every hour and in that amount.
21627  Economy / Gambling / Re: Good and relatively safe dice strategy? on: July 23, 2015, 03:58:43 AM
Hi, I want to know what's the best strategy when playing dice if I have 10 BTC bankroll and want to make 40 BTC.
I know only Martingale, and that's bullshit strategy so I was just randomly betting and lost so much.

everybody is looking for some sort of strategy to win an profit from their bitcoin but so far it looks like that there is not even one strategy that can work 100% of the time.

or even if there is a good strategy out there , the one that is using it is not willing to share with others about his winnings.

He said it like 5 times, he is not talking about 100% safe strategy, but anout what are you people using. If you have any specific strategy you use when playing dice just post it here so we can all see it and use it. Thanks.

If you don't need 100% safe, then martingale it is. Choose your % of success, increase your bet by (moneylost/amountyoudwin).

i.e.:

Bet at 2x, on fail, increase x2
Bet at 1.02x, on fail, increase x50

As you go to lower multipliers, the cost of the increase is bigger (in the second case, for example, you go 1 -> 50 -> 2500 -> 100k+), but in theory, you probably won't lose 10x in a row with a 98% chance.

then what is the point of calling something a strategy when it is not 100% safe.
using a method that has a chance to lose , makes it a guaranteed loss so it is not a strategy it is just fooling yourself with a lot of unnecessary additional steps to lose in the end.

i think it is better to bet normally and win / lose normally too instead of just looking for "strategies"! Smiley
21628  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: is gambling fix your life? or wreck your life? on: July 23, 2015, 03:44:23 AM
neither. I did lose moderate amount of btc by gambling but I don't gamble every day like few people do.
why do people get addicted to gambling, anyway?

that is such a complicated question , but i think the reason for people getting addicted to gambling is coming from their greed . it is the nature of humans to be greedy and some people have this feature more than others and so they will waste their money on gambling in hope that they would win a lot of money and be rich.
also the thrill of gambling is something else to consider too.
21629  Economy / Gambling / Re: I am creating a primedice calculator. on: July 23, 2015, 03:40:51 AM
Hello , i am currently developing a tool to use with primedice that will (Hopefully) calculate a lot of things such as EV etc , i understand primedice's EV is always negative due to the 0.5% edge but i'll do my best.

This is it right now:
[i mg]https://i.imgur.com/c3FHIli.png[/img]

What more would you like to see?
Should i sell it eventually or distribute it free?

The program is developed using Python but i will port it to C# later for easy use.

Thanks Smiley

very nice effort, i would very much like to see the code of your project if it is in c# , i am always interested in programming projects

p.s. i don't think you can sell the project since there is nothing special about it yet, and also i think PrimeDice's house edge is 1% not 0.5% check their website faq to make sure.
21630  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best wallet for cold storage on: July 22, 2015, 06:03:14 AM
Hi,
I'm going to save some Bitcoins for the future. Which is the safest way to store them?
I was thinking about a wallet on a usb flash drive. Which wallet should I choose?

Thank you

i am currently using Electrum on my USB drive with linux live which i keep offline at all times.
it is not that hard to make and it is easy to use in order to spend from.

Bitcoin core installed on a offline linux computer.  Since you are storing coins long term, don't bother downloading the blockchain.  You also should back-up the wallet.dat file and encrypt it on several storage devices.
there are better and easier options. especially if you want to spend them without having to import the private keys. like electrum that i mentioned or even Armory.

21631  Other / Off-topic / Re: what you like best in Bitcoin ? on: July 22, 2015, 05:57:32 AM
I could hold money noone knows I have.

I think that's not always true for some people: when you own a public address, this address can be linked to websites etc that own more personal information about you. However, a solution for this is sending some money to an extra / new address no one knows of. From then it's just a gamble whether it's yours or not. I think the government is not happy with Bitcoin with regard to people "saving money" in Bitcoin than on bankaccounts (in order to prevent paying tax) Wink.

you can always use mixing services to hide your tracks and don't let anybody know how much bitcoin "in total" you own.
and also when buying bitcoin you can do it off the exchanger like person to person with cash or in some cases you can do it using localbitcoins. that way your bank won't have any record of you buying / investing in bitcoin.

Lol my investments that the OP kind of suggested did not work well.
I bought 2 coins, at twice the current volume, price rose a bunch, but there were a couple buy orders for only a couple satoshi, thats it. No one would buy my 100 satoshi sell order, even if it was the lowst one. Then people undercutted my sell orders, and still no one buying.
Screw altcoins lol

welcome to the scam market Cheesy

but seriously i both like and hate YOBIT at the same time. YOBIT , unlike any other exchangers , accepts any coin that is created and puts it in their market. a lot of them are scams others are just being mined and dumped everyday on the exchanger to buy walls that people like OP are putting up. this is true about any other place to some extent too but other exchangers like bittrex accept altcoins that has at least a minimum of people showing interest in it and if the daily volume drops it will be removed from there.

Yep.
I dont trust yobit anymore, maybe its the fact that I lost almost 0.1 btc trying to trade, but bittrex is just a better site. Higher volume, higher liquidity, and they choose coins to add.
Apparently EA had a trojan virus in it, but yobit still adds it to their site...

but it still has good opportunities too, that is why i said i both like and hate it Wink
the good part is, you can find altcoins that will be listed in major exchangers like bittrex / polo / cryptcy but they are in the process so their price is sometimes as low as 1-3 satoshis and soon after they are listed on those places the price is going to 30-1000 satoshi which makes it a great investment even if you can gather upto 0.1 BTC of them.
Yea.
Prebuying many coins for 1-3 satoshis that you think are a good idea, are almost a guaranteed investment. If you buy for 1 satoshi, you can't actually sell for below that, so there is no risk of the price falling.
If you buy a bunch of the coins for 1 satoshi each, then wait for listing on exchange, just sell and easily get 2x+ returns, just by going up a couple satoshi.
Going to 100 satoshi, which is still nothing, would give you 100x return if you bought at 1 satoshi.
I would be doing more of this if I could, but the problem is I don't have the time/space to have hundreds of wallets on my multiple PCs.

what do you need multiple wallets for, you can keep them on the exchanger with no fear. just make a strong password and enable 2FA .
besides IMO keeping anything under 1-2 BTC on exchanger is safe , don't worry too much.
21634  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fees when bitcoin "skyrocket" on: July 22, 2015, 05:21:26 AM
A fee at this moment is a very low value in USD (0,0001 BTC / 2cents).

But - lets hope and pray - when bitcoin skyrocket to prices like 1 btc = 100000$, the fees will be huge in fiat value!! People, for a transaction of 10USD (0,0001BTC) would pay 10USD in fees too!!!

Or am i missing something here?

fees has already been changed a couple of times until now. it was not always 0.0001 BTC for fees , i don't know exactly what was the amounts before but i know for a fact that it has been changed more than once in history of bitcoin.

so in the future it is not a problem to change it again for example if the price skyrockets it can be reduced or if the block reward decreases a couple more times and price goes down it can be increased.
21635  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin as a national currency? on: July 22, 2015, 05:18:24 AM
What do you think? Is it possible for Bitcoin to get accepted as a national currency for any real country? It would be definitely amazing, but I'm sad that governments are scared of Bitcoin, because they can't track it like the banks they own. I heard about "mini-country" ( country in a country ) called Liberland with a cryptocurrency as their main payment method. Please reply here what you think and if you would be happy or not if your national currency is BTC.

no country (government) in their right mind would do such a thing.
  • bitcoin is a global currency so you can not restrict it to one country and also the price of it is not in control of one country
  • the government can not control bitcoin so they wouldn't have the power they have with fiat
  • they can not track it so it would open a lot of criminal activity in their country
  • they can always print out their own money but not bitcoin
21636  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is wealth boring? on: July 22, 2015, 05:12:53 AM
I mean, if you have a lot of capital, the amount of existential press diminishes, right? So you are fully entitled to sit in a meadow and meditate though the rest of your life. What else would you want to do?

I would open a spiritual newage healing clinic if I wanted to do something more.

for people who are not wealthy wealth is not boring and they are pursuing it . and even becoming wealthy is not going to be satisfactory to them . humans are usually so greedy and would never be satisfied so they will always want more, so the pursuit never ends!

but for those who have vast wealth beyond imagination in their possession i think it can get boring. so they would seek other sorts of thrill.

Hello! Bitcoin sparked my interest a few weeks ago and I decided to give it a shot. I've been using some faucets for a while and made a deposit of 30 EUR to my coinbase wallet. I also have a blockchain wallet and an account at yobit.net. If someone could point me in the right direction of where to start that would be great!

I honestly don't have much experience with financial markets, trading etc but I'd like to learn. Is 0.1 Bitcoin too low to do anything with or what would be a suitable amount?

Regards Max

the best investment that someone can have with their bitcoin IMO is trading altcoin. and the good thing is that you can do it for even very small amounts for each trade. the minimum trade volume is usually either 10K or 50K satoshi
you can first start by watching the markets and look at the history of the coins , an visit the altcoin section to read about them and see which one have more people interested in it. and then make decisions .
