21721  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: One card running hot. All 1070s. on: January 03, 2018, 05:55:04 PM
I have a fair number of machines that randomly have a hot card like this. Ive always chalked it up to chip quality, its just luck of the draw.

Does it ever result in your machine crashing more often than others? Mine goes down at least once every 24 hours. I've upped the fan to 72% to see if that improves stability.

gigabyte cards are meh.

set the oc clocks lower on it.

if you are running windows 10  and use msi afterburner  it is a pain in the ass to do it.

but  it can be done  set all cards 1 at a time

21722  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: January 03, 2018, 03:34:43 PM
On my air cooled 9x EVGA SC and SC2 1080Ti rigs I'm doing: (currently $81.07)

tdp 80% (190W)
core 100
ram 550

On my water cooled 4x MSI 1080Ti rig I'm doing: (currently $38.26)

tdp 75% (190W)
core 145
ram 600

On my water cooled 1x Zotac 1080Ti rig I'm doing: (currently $9.72)

tdp 65% (230W)
core 240
ram 650

So the brand/model of the specific 1080Ti makes a big difference on the tdp and core settings used.

EVGA least power hungry and highest factory clock
MSI fairly power hungry and middle of the road factory clock
Zotac crazy power hungry and very low factory clock (on their watercooled card unlike their AMP! Extreme)

So about 9 a card  nice
21723  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] GTX 1080Ti on: January 03, 2018, 05:46:20 AM
Preferably EVGA but would consider other brands. Would need it shipped to Northeastern USA and would want to use escrow unless you're one of the forum's most well know people. Please reply here or PM with offers.
what do you want to pay for it?
21724  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: January 03, 2018, 05:41:15 AM
When I try to read this thread from my iPhone I get the message:

'You cannot browse this page at "bitcointalk.org" because it is restricted.'
'Allow Website' (a link)

When I click "Allow Website" it asks for a 4 digit passcode, which I don't know.

I can browse other threads on this board.  Does Phil need to approve this since he's the moderator?  Is there some setting in my profile?

Thanks!

I have no idea why that happens.

Go to marketplace and see if my moderated thread allows access.

The thread is a antminer t-9 for sale

Maybe you can not access moderated threads of any kind?

@ op  the refurbshed  cosair 1500 watt works

it has 10 jacks use 9 for pcie and 1 for cpu

I will link you to some pcie cables that fit it.

or return the cards as 2x 8pin are less then ideal for 1070ti mining

Hi Phillip, I can certainly buy this card if it is the only way to make the rig work. Just to be clear, are you saying that I need 2 of these corsair1500 watt psu's or 1 psu with some sort of adapters?

I'd rather not return these cards. I could downgrade the rig to 6 cards and sell the 7th if that will make things easier for me.

It can do nine pcie cable each are oem and have two eight pin pcie jacks

You can set tdp to 110 watts and 7 cards are easy peasy

Let me find link for extra cables you need they are on Corsair website

here are the cables
single head 4.99 a cable
  http://www.corsair.com/en-us/type-3-sleeved-black-pci-e-pig-tail-cable

dual head 6.99   a cable

http://www.corsair.com/en-us/type-3-flat-black-ribbon-cable-pcie-6-2-pin-dual-connectors-compatible-with-all-type-3-pin-out-psu

let me walk down to my corsair  psu 1500 watters and be sure about this.

okay  it comes with 6 single head  pcie cables
and 2 twin head pcie cables

so if you buy 5  twin head cables from the link above   that gives you 7 twin head cables.

the psu  use type 3  and that is the link above.

so 5 x 7 = 35 + 350 =  385  and you will have a safe setup  using about 810 watts  if you set tdp to 110 watts a card about 72%

you could push to 125 watts a card  and still be safe  about 910 watts for the whole setup and only  125 watts on a 16 cable

the dual head type 3 for $6.99 are what you want

reminds me I should order some

@ op  the refurbshed  cosair 1500 watt works

Best choice if you not in my country. In Indonesia, I still need to pay tax around 100-200 usd for that, and still need expensive shipping price.

if op can not buy that psu  he should return those cards

2x eight pin  for a 1070ti are less then ideal

as he is finding out.

21729  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: apw3++ wont turn on using 240v on: January 03, 2018, 02:44:30 AM
I figured it out! The breaker I installed is a two pole BUT it only attaches to one 120v leg. I tapped into the stove breaker to verify and it works now! Time to get a gas stove lol. Thanks!

yeah I have done that  first time it happened  the breaker box was fucked up and limits 240 circuits.

I eventually wired the entire house over and bumped from 100 amps to 150 amps  with proper spots for 240 circuits.

okay  the plug  is this correct?

does it read 220 to 240 if you test the 2 points?

21732  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Scammers on: January 03, 2018, 01:12:49 AM

Much better methods to prove gear is real are screen shots of it hashing  like below.

then a buyer can tell seller to alter the worker name.

note it is blank below

but a real seller could do

1JdC6Xg3ajT3rge3FgPNSYYFpmf53Vbtje.realDeal

and that would show up.

That is far better then a photo a date and a name.
As buyer can request anything and only a person with gear can make the change

21733  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: LitecoinCreep is exactly that - a creepy scammer - do not buy from this seller! on: January 03, 2018, 01:00:40 AM
After a week of back and forth, my communication finally ended with the "seller" LitecoinCreep for an L3+ that was offered here.

Deposit of $400 was made, and is now lost: https://insight.litecore.io/tx/8f93b180754621f49cb2db9b9fd91749fc551a9c80dc7fda9c99cd492df8e349

Mullen490 was similarly stolen from - he will prepare his own reply to this to inform everyone. Negative trust feedback has been left here for this seller, but I wanted to make sure there was a public thread here as well, because at least two of us were stolen from here, and likely the seller think there's more to be made.

Yes, escrow is, of course, the preferable way to do business here for obvious reasons, but from time to time with what I consider to be reasonable amounts of coin, I'll make the jump and try to get a deal done with someone who seems to be above board. The signs were all over the original post - there was even a picture taken of a rig with the proper signage on it that was presented as proof of ownership - this obviously counts for nothing and should be ignored.

If you desire a complete doxxing, with names, addresses. phone numbers and complete text message threads, please contact me via PM.

Long story short, I will not be making any further deals here without escrow from now on. I've learned to trust no one, even my brothers here, regrettably.

Thanks,
r00tdude

P.S. I know there will be people here that choose to troll me for being gullible or otherwise loose with my coin. I accept that I should have done differently, I don't need you to pile on the scorn and ridicule - I feel badly enough about it as it is. I'm writing this publicly so others who have a thought to proceed without escrow think twice about it as I will from now on.

there is a scam section it is not here.  I will ask mods to move it.

I am sorry for the loss you suffered.
21734  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Official FutureBit Moonlander 2 Driver and Support Thread on: January 03, 2018, 12:57:31 AM
Thanks for the suggestion philipma1957; what model Scythe fans are you using? I only have the one MLD and no USB hub, but I may go that route as it seems like a better solution overall for multiple sticks -- until then I've got to sort out the one fan I've got. I dig your setup with the 1050ti covering the cost of the dual Moonlanders hashing on tbdice  Cool

that scythe is the 120mm ultra kaze

 https://www.amazon.com/Scythe-DFS123812H-3000-Ultra-Kaze-120mm/dp/B001JKNMBE/ref=sr_1_1?

I feed it only 9 volts  moves 100 cfm and is not loud

with 12 volts  moves 133 cfm and is a bit noisy
21735  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Official FutureBit Moonlander 2 Driver and Support Thread on: January 03, 2018, 12:05:36 AM
Hey all,

Looks like my Moonlander's fan died - it was working fine last night, I plugged it in this morning and it spun up and then got slower and slower until it stopped completely. Still a solid green LED, no HW errors, and it attempts to start mining via bfgminer - but no action. Could it be a hardware setting, or maybe a driver issue as I'm running macOS High Sierra?
Also, there was a post some pages back about a replacement fan for the Moonlander but I can't find it, any info on that would be appreciated!

go the route I did

I'm a complete mining newbie.

Can anyone point me to instructions how to operate the moonlander silently?
Which settings etc...?
Or even without fan?

Hashrate is not so important for me, but it should be as silent as possible.

Thx in advance & sorry for the strange question.

sell it to me  it will be completely silent Roll Eyes

To be serious  it needs a fan.  So I think  you won't have silence.

Even if you set  low settings it would over heat.

I suppose if you attach a monster heat sink it could work silently.

21737  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: mmpool.org - 1.5% fee DGM/PPS - tx fees/vardiff/merge mine/tor on: January 02, 2018, 11:57:40 PM
Seems to have a few people move over there today.  Be nice if a few more tried it out. Smiley

yeah  My  spot is number 2  about 0.46928 btc on the line.

I pushed with 2 s-9's  for most of dec  but I backed off and now have 1 s-9.

I do see us over 150th  maybe we get lucky.

With prices  of btc so high I no longer rent and toss tons of hash at the pool.

I go for the more expensive wire racks with good wheels and far more sturdy.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/72-x48-x18-Commercial-6-Tier-Shelf-Adjustable-Steel-Wire-Metal-Shelving-Rack/311861204247?

these are much better made.

cheap model is here

The wheels are bigger and center support bar helps a lot.

I would love to find the higher end style at a better price.
