2181  Other / Meta / Re: make all the accounts you control public info on: March 06, 2015, 04:11:59 PM
Whether this is a good idea is arguable.

However this is impossible to enforce. Some people may decide to post their list of accounts,
but others can just ignore that and use a proxy to prevent the staff from knowing it.
2182  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: How do i ping europe.p2pool.co:9332 ? on: March 06, 2015, 03:49:57 PM
Where do i type that in ?

I want to find the nearest/fastest p2pool to me.
When using the ping command, you don't put in the port... just the IP address or name:
Code:
ping europe.p2pool.co

http://nodes.p2pool.co works pretty well to show you the closest node to you, and provides a scored ranking system.

Thanks, why can't  ping the nearest node to me ? It times out ?

Pinging p2Pool.org works with an an average of 58ms

Cheers
Well, it could be that the node is offline... or maybe the node blocked ICMP traffic, which would render it unreachable to ping requests.

If ICMP is off (i.e. can't ping) probably your best bet is:

Code:
nmap -p 9332 europe.p2pool.co

It will include the latency that may be useful:

Code:
Host is up (0.023s latency)

2185  Economy / Services / Re: Giving 4 days unlimited traffic for 1 BTC on: March 06, 2015, 03:01:50 PM
You haven't actually answered my question, how much is unlimited? And what sites in exactly is this coming from(you can pm for that answer)?

he couldnt answer that as because it will depend on the "ptc" site's number of visitors

Exactly. This is his response:

unlimited = traffic generated by website in specific time

Meaning: "unlimited = I have no idea, there's no guarantee at all"
2186  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: bug? on: March 06, 2015, 02:42:22 PM
I'm using bitcoin-qt 0:10
I made a purchase of a game on a website ...
When I made the transaction, I specified my change  address ...
for the record, the address is multisig

1) the program said that the address is unknown (the address is on my list of receiving address)
2) he sent the change to an address that is not on my list but the program says it's my

I'm not sure about point 1. Probably because you don't have all the required keys? (because it's multisig)

Regarding 2 most probably it's a change address so it's not listed in your 'Receive' tab but it's there.
Use the command 'listaddressgroupings' to list all the addresses including the change ones.
2187  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: is there any crypto app store? on: March 06, 2015, 01:06:51 PM
I first read it thinking a hub of crypto apps tgat are ONLY AVAILABLE on the Crypto appstore, however the idea of a directory that links you to the app store is cool. Maybe even a chrome extension directory would be cool

It would be much better for this crypto store to actually host the apps, not just link to the official store.
This way it could support apps that accept payments in bitcoin (which isn't approved by Google or Apple).

What address is that? Is that the address the ATM told you to send to?
Did you send to that address?

Here you can see the history of transactions of that address:
https://blockchain.info/address/3QGKKcQqjhQ6BAL2StKs5rs5phDsmu4aYq

Can you see your transaction there?

Yes, this is the address the atm gave me.....I have not clue which one is mine....Does this mean the money is gone?

No, I don't think so.

Where did you send from? What wallet did you use?

Also, when did you send it?

My receipt says 2015-03-02  21:06 EST which i think coverts to March 3, 2015 at 2:05:00 AM UTC.......I'm not sure the wallet address i sent from tho

You should contact support and ask why exactly "the machine says error" when you try to redeem.

Your ticket or the ATM must have some contact information.

It seems your transaction ID is 8329152966997dc59cc9979f02b73b6d6b31982589ff3ef004c9724f4c865f21

That should help when calling.

2190  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: SELL 30 BITCOINS FOR 1 BTC/200 $ MINIMUM PRICE on: March 06, 2015, 01:00:59 AM
I was trying to work a deal with him and kept asking him to just sign the address that has the coins, and he kept sending me screen caps:

Of course that QR code points to https://blockchain.info/address/17QAyToXNEUC6WkwxExcT6N4um7521iood which has a whopping 0.0022508 BTC in it.

That's because he has a watch-only address from someone else with the rest hehe.
Maybe that's even easier than editing the image.

Ok so here's the scenario. Basically I went to a Bitcoin atm and tried to withdraw bitcoins from my wallet. The atm gave me an address but at the end of the address it had "?amount=2.14". I stupidly deleted this from the end of the key that was given to me and sent the bitcoin. Now when I try to redeem the money the machine says error. Is there any hope I will get this money back? Please any ideas....I feel sooooo stupid.

"?amount=2.14" is not part of the address at all. Removing that shouldn't cause any errors.

Can you share the addresses or transaction involved?

I'm pretty new to this bitcoin stuff. What would you recommend I do. I don't know if I should put the full address on here.

It's OK to post the full address (the one that starts with 1 and sometimes with 3) or the transaction ID (Ex: 2885323a1d1b614c5745...).

You should never post any private key, that usually starts with 5 (Ex: 5Kb8kLf9zgWQnogidDA76MzPL6TsZZY36hWXMssSzNydYXYB9KF)
but that could start with 6 or s depending on the format.

In case of doubt post only the first 7 characters or so. We can guess the rest if it's an address but not if it's a private key.

I'll give it a shot.

Sent.

Update:

OgNasty won't be using it.

Too hassle to give it away, I guess I'll just post the code here and forget about it:

I'm still looking for (trusted) members to review the app including security.

It'd be great if somebody can check the source code, verify the app can't connect to Internet, and so on.

One month has passed. Just one last try, otherwise I'll let it expire.
2198  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: How do i ping europe.p2pool.co:9332 ? on: March 05, 2015, 10:07:43 PM
Hi All

I tried opening cmd and typing

ping europe.p2pool.co:9332

But get an error, how is this done, i want the nearest p2p pool.

Cheers

Try

Code:
telnet europe.p2pool.co 9332

If you get a command prompt or actually anything but a timeout then it's enabled.
2199  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Mercury - Fully trustless cryptocurrency exchange - Looking for testers! on: March 05, 2015, 09:38:54 PM
Is it possible to open 2 or more instances of Mercury on the same computer?

I'd like to test trading with myself.

If it's not possible I know I can use a virtual machine or another computer but I want to confirm first.
2200  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Google Authenticator help on: March 05, 2015, 09:29:24 PM
Google Authenticator uses an external app to scan codes. What app are you using?
Is it QR Droid by any chance?

If so just uninstall and reinstall it (QR Droid).

There's a known issue happening on some devices. That will be fixed this week.

Re-installing QR Droid won't affect your auth. keys.
Do not uninstall Google Authenticator.

Thank you will try in a bit & report back

Edit - i'm pleased to say that his worked, uninstalled QR droid & it forced a download of another barcode scanner

Good to know!
It happened to me, but I fixed it setting the computer screen at maximum brightness.

Then it was not the same issue, but good it was solved.

@OP
FYI the new version of QR Droid fixing this issue is now published.
