2181  Other / Meta / Re: Plagiarism: Where Do We Draw the Line? on: July 19, 2021, 08:19:17 PM
Accidental probably depends on a few things. Really, the translator should have asked the user or posted a link to the original topic but tbh it's potentially something someone could get away with - or could explain their way out of (especially if the information is deemed useful in an accusatory or appeal topic).
2182  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are there any contests for predicting the price of coins? on: July 19, 2021, 06:53:22 PM
There are some topics that get made every now and the for predicting the price of bitcoin at some point in the future. You just have to be around for when they start to find them though.
2183  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin be artificially lowered by banks just like gold/silver? on: July 19, 2021, 01:12:23 AM
There have been a lot of accusations with crypto exchanges and it does seem that it's likely for them to be able to do like silver and gold smiths did and start inflating the supply of coins. The ideas of holding your own keys only works really if you're good with security/technology, if you're not good with either of those then you'll probably have a hard time and might lose more than leaving funds on an exchange...

The banks took on what the smiths were doing but who knows if it's possible for crypto exchanges or banks to carry out what has been done in the past with gold and silver.
2184  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: July 18, 2021, 03:21:52 PM
I personally think that putting chipmixer behind cloudflare wouldn't be good for chipmixer's reputation... However, putting a landing page behind cloudflare might actually work...
How about this:
  • Put chipmixer.com behind Cloudflare, with only a landing page.
  • The landing page shows a link to Tor browser, .onion URL and a link to a (newly created) clearnet URL without Cloudflare.
  • The URL without Cloudflare can be for instance nocloudflare.chipmixer.com. If there's no DDOS, it's available. During DDOS, the landing page is still available to point towards the .onion site.
  • This way, Cloudflare only knows you visited the clearnet landing page.

How fast do you think we'd spot them changing the onion link on the cf landing page (they could also generate user profiles and do it on a by-user thing) or just taking it down due to it being reported or something though?

Especially if the main page is behind cloudflare...

We could always have chipmixer.com as the main page and iwantnoprivacy.chipmixer.com as the other. Not everyone has a vpn and a I dont think anyone has a browser that isn't paid to add fingerprintable trackers - even on incognito.
2185  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Where do you get trading advice and tips from? on: July 17, 2021, 09:20:05 PM
I just get my advice form history... History almost always repeats itself, and it's a better gauge than anything.

You can get advice from as many random sources as you want as long as you can find an example of where it's happened before or if it's about to happen and confirm it on a chart or however else.
2186  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Thread For Btc Daily Traders, get 70/80% accurate calls. Edit: Forex pairs added on: July 17, 2021, 08:49:01 PM
Is BTCUSD going bearish because it ended with a bear candle since my broker ends all trades on Friday by 20 including crypto so I would like to find out from full crypto traders if Btc is still selling or are we now in a bull run to cover up for the bear moment

If you were online for the second big red 4h candle, we're now above that if you only saw the first then no we're around the bottom of it now..

There are other sites but if you want permenant access to charts you can use tradingview, binance, or coinbase.
2187  Economy / Economics / Re: Are Renewable Energy resources the future? on: July 17, 2021, 08:37:48 PM
I think we have a problem of places investing in things THEY can easily use. Places like north Western Europe with a lot of coastal areas have done extensive research on wind power and hydro electric as they're the most usable in those places). It's kinda been helped by China doing a lot of research into making solar but all of these power sources require emissions to be produced imo and solar might require unrecycleable plastic (I'm not sure if there are any mostly silicon versions available though).

Many countries in the world also have a condition for reducing carbon emissions. The EU still targets itself at 50% renewable power consumption (set in law) and the UK receives wind power for most of the year other than a few days every few months (I think they're designed to function at speeds between 20mph and 50 so if the wind speed is too low or too high it has to be turned off).

2188  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Episode #1: What is Bitcoin? (New YouTube Channel) on: July 17, 2021, 02:38:45 PM
Your voice on YouTube is also very easy to put at 2x speed and stil pick up everything.

This is a great initiative! We don't have many people making YouTube content on cryptocurrency that aren't covering just trading...

Your post is too lengthy and can leave readers bored. I was interested in the title but the contents are long. Try to make your points more concise. Its a good idea to start a crypto YouTube channel. I'm guessing you already have knowledge of crypto before attempting to be an educator.

I feel like this forum makes a lot of text look bigger and bulkier than it actually is as I don't think their post is too long when comparing it to things I've posted that I've tried to go back and read in 5 minutes to make sure I'm not too long.

2189  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: UK FCA Regulation on: July 17, 2021, 02:38:08 AM
Everyone who invests in anything should prepare to lose their money.

If you read the rest of this, be sure to read it in a comedic tone.

What happened when Rolls Royce jet engines started to drop in economic efficiency? A huge chunk of their value got wiped and they've been forced to relocate from Europe. £12->£1.4 in 2.5 years.

Your shares might not even rise with inflation, what was £14 in a bank in the 90s can now be £0.30. Were the fca warning about that one I wonder?

Most things in the UK suck with investments as you're competing with £30tr of dumb money from institutions that won't stick their hand down the sofa and work out what they lost...
2190  Economy / Economics / Re: Very interesting ban on mining gear. Actually a pc from Dell on: July 17, 2021, 01:18:17 AM
I can't find the limit online, is there a fixed one or is it just energy rating? We have ratings from A***** to E I think (and no I don't think they thought that through ).

I feel like those computers were quite highly rated though so I guess a lot of people will probably just import them from other places or build their own.

then toasters

Toasters are really efficient tbh. They seem much better than a grill - all they give off is heat. My excuse to get through so much toast in the winter was the heat the toaster gave it.

2191  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum: Urgent question on seed phrase and pass phrase on: July 16, 2021, 07:05:21 PM
Tldr just move the funds to a new wallet as soon as possible and you feel up for it - not too tired to make a bad mistake.

Is the passphrase on the wallet or is it actually on the seed mnemonic.

If it's the mnemonic then it should be temporarily fine until you move the funds to a new wallet. If its the passphrase it asks you for before sending funds that you haven't released then the other person might have access to your funds if they have a way to access the seed - if they just saw it then it's unlikely they memorised it.
2192  Economy / Economics / Re: What's going on in China lately on: July 16, 2021, 02:17:07 PM
Weren't they celebrating an anniversary recently of the ccp's control? Maybe it was something that happened from mass gatherings with that.

They've had 5 months longer than everyone else to try to come up with a vaccine and get everyone immunised though.
2193  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Weird ElonCoin buy order on: July 16, 2021, 03:11:56 AM
A well programmed exchange normally takes buy orders above the current price and matches them to a sell order - after waiting for the arbitration server to take its steps on the database - it'll then disappear from the orderbook. It's likely someone just made a mistake and put that in imo, perhaps they were after a different pair (btc-usd).
2194  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Meaning of mining on: July 15, 2021, 05:14:47 PM
It needs to be done in specific chips now known as ASICs - algorithm specific integrated circuit. The IC part is just the same technology as in your computed but it just has different chips in it.

Without mining, indeed the chain will die. But it's probably impossible we get to that point based on mining rewards (unless bitcoin becomes worth nothing and investors think it'll stay like that)...
2195  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Don't be too desperate to make earning on: July 15, 2021, 04:13:48 PM
Yeah it can take aquite a while to get familiar with what to pay attention to, what to notice and how to develop a strategy.

I doubt any resources can really help you speed up the learning process too as most of successful trading is recognising things you've seen before and determining how likely a swing in either direction is. The most you might get from a book is some ta stuff and risk management (but realistically putting more than 2% risk of you're deposited amount on anything is high - unless you're just holding/accumulating).
2196  Economy / Economics / Re: Does studying Economics in School make one to be economical or what on: July 15, 2021, 03:03:22 PM
If you mean I job wise, most science studies do open up the possibility of being paid higher and getting better job satisfaction. Economics can allow you to go into financial fields as well as general company management too - and anything else a normal qualification at the level you're going for might open up.

I think we've all seen the memes of people studying economics degrees making the most irrational/impulse purchases out of everyone.

If you want to save money, find ways how to. Work out how to do things like budgeting but don't stick to a budget, show yourself what you might have at the end if you did manage to cut out some sstuff - but don't make it something you won't stick to.

Depending on where you are, you don't need much to live off and still enjoy life - eg switch going for a drink or for coffee for having a picnic in the park then you've still got the same level of social interaction but for much cheaper.

Imo electric, Internet, food, water and gas should be less than $5000 a year in Europe so it's probably cheaper elsewhere. (this figure is just for educational purposes only as it might vary but it is an overestimate - I got all those for about £2k last year).
2197  Economy / Economics / Re: Only young and naive guy believe in high risk high return on: July 15, 2021, 01:50:31 PM
Re "elites" actually, they do invest in risky ventures - if they loose they still have plenty, whereas if you loose it will mean something for your.

Elites and the financially stable manage their risk and that's the difference between them and everyone else. Elites are financially stable people who were able to take an extremely low risk-reward opportunity normally. Amazon started as an online book store in a garage, why? Was it maybe the lack of financial burdon? Also selling books and having a $250k investment from your parents is a pretty stable deal - the books are still going to be worth how much you can recycle them for and would probably be worth at least 80% of what they were bought for.

I'm thinking (especially from the US) that a lot of the $10M+ entrepreneurs had fairly middle class parents (at least) who were able to invest in them - this obviously makes it look extremely hard to end up in that category, but perhaps not impossible.

People normally have backups for things too so the risk will probably reduce that way - most people financially stable or elite have some sort of hedge/diversification options available to them.
2198  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Look for exchanges that don't accept kyc on: July 15, 2021, 03:08:02 AM
This is going to vary a lot between your location and what you want to exchange.

Uniswap and sushiswap for example are good options for the ethereum blockchain that don't require kyc.

There's then bisq, the waves exchange and a few others that also don't need kyc and include major coins like eth, ltc, xmr, and of course btc.

You'll have trouble doing it with money or possessions unless you do in person transactions.

Location wise too you can get away with using binance without kyc for trading (with crypto-only deposits and withdrawals). You might want to review their tos to see if they reserve the right to withold funds if they suspect money laundering/change their mind on something.
2199  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do you know if someone left you Bitcoin after death? on: July 14, 2021, 09:06:12 PM
It's probably a bit like putting money in your mattress. If you tell someone where it is/how to get it, or leave a hunt when you die then they'll find it - otherwise the funds will die with you...

There are alternatives to telling someone explicitly while you're alive as to where your funds are, eg you could leave a note to them in your will or somewhere findable on your computer (eg an unencrypted bitcoin core wallet on a drive and a sticky note of how to access it or a puzzle or something you know the person will be able to solve).
2200  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will be the lowest price of bitcoin from June to December 2021 on: July 14, 2021, 06:12:14 PM
I think there are 4 situations that we could see from here:

Bearish:
Rally past 44k and then breakdown to 20k.
Just keep going down, breaking 30k once already means we could be in a good position for it to break down further.

Bullish:
Break the 28k mark and go down to 25k, at which point a lot of people try to buy in and push the price up into a new rally - potentially stabilising around 55-60k before shooting through.
Just keep going up and breaking out at 44k upwards. I think we've already seen a breakdown (potentially) in the current sideways pattern which means an up move is a bit more likely.

You might be better off using your own personal bias to drtermine whether you're bullish or bearish. I still consider we're in a bull market for at least a few months but we might just be on a slower plateau for it...
