2181  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WOW!!! New Record 200622 Unconfirmed Transactions on: May 18, 2017, 01:31:06 PM
Always been a Bitcoin fan but today I'm really, really pissed  Angry It's my sister's birthday and she wanted Sims 4 so I paid for a key on Kinguin fucking three days ago! And the transaction is still stuck.

What's worse, I paid the recommended fee that blockchain.info automatically adds and normally my payments go through within 5-10 minutes when I pay the recommended fees. I just ended up paying for ANOTHER key using good old PayPal.

Same with my a-ads advertisement campaign. The funds are just stuck for days. Meh.

your first mistake is using a web wallet and worst of all you are using a buggy web wallet.
blockchain.info is suggesting the same fixed fee as it was a week or a month ago irregardless of the current appropriate fee.

your other mistake is not doing a research when using bitcoin. it is not like a bank to run to them with any problem. with bitcoin you are the owner of your own money and fully responsible for it. so you need to learn a couple of "how tos" such as knowing how fees change. and what wallet is a proper wallet with no bugs like what blockchain.info has.
2182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The fees are crazy, 420 satoshis/byte, WHY? on: May 17, 2017, 12:00:09 PM
It's at 450 now but bear in mind this is the estimation to very likely get confirmed in the next block... the median fee is half that and still gets confirmed in hours (yes, I can't believe I'm thinking hours is reasonable now but I actually am getting used to it).

To be fair, my largest txs are all around 250 bytes or so... after learning to keep em small. So I'm still paying a pittance in terms of %.

Would you mind to share your skill on how to make transaction size smaller?  I knew that using changing addresses would make size bigger.

it is not something you can do after the fact, you should do it before.
for example you shouldn't receive a lot of small transactions like 0.001BTC if it is a service and you are getting paid or withdrawing, then wait until it accumulates to a bigger amount and then request payment.
2183  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: When the portfolio goes down on: May 17, 2017, 11:51:53 AM
prevention is better than cure!
in other words dump before getting dumped on.

it is very simple, most people who lose money are losing it because they hold altcoins for too long. they all know what's coming to them but yet they still hold on to their altcoins tight because they have fallen for the hype.

of course this partly comes from people being greedy and not satisfied with a small profit and want the most.

just take a small profit and sell! when prices start to fall it is not easy to keep your cool. specially if you have a big amount on the line not something like 0.01BTC! and the bigger the investment the bigger the stress and harder it would be to control. so just don't let yourself to get to that stage.
2184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What is the next big bang cryptocurrency in 2017? on: May 17, 2017, 11:45:11 AM
they already have "blown up", some of them multiple times. go check out some of the charts from coinmarketcap and see this. many have gone up more than 1000% and are currently getting dumped.

there are a couple of altcoins that have not yet gone into a bubble but they may go sideways for now.
2185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Cryptocurrency on: May 17, 2017, 11:40:27 AM
it depends on what you want to do!

if you want to purchase something online from a merchant or something, the only choice is bitcoin.
if you want to make a decent investment with least chance of losing money and a sure profit in long term then again bitcoin.
if you want the biggest market with the most liquidity, most number of exchanges and traders, then again it is bitcoin.
if you want to transfer money to someone else on the other side of the world you must use bitcoin because they would want to convert it back to fiat and they wouldn't be able to do with other altcoins most probably.

if you want the anonymity and want to do some stuff on the dark markets that are not so legal then you must use Monero.

if all you want to do is to do some little things like gamble and with a small amount then you can use Doge or LTC.

if you want to participate in the ICO scams and test your luck, then your only choice these days is buying Ethereum since these ICOs don't accept anything else.
2186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WOW!!! New Record 200622 Unconfirmed Transactions on: May 17, 2017, 11:33:28 AM
Bitcoin is broken, don't know why people still use it when there is a plenty of better alternative  Roll Eyes

in what world a centralized, pre-mined, pump and dump, buggy, in some case bloated, insecure altcoin is better than bitcoin?
maybe next time you make a throwaway account, make sure to also give us some example Smiley
2187  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are altcoin price movements have some mathematical explanation? on: May 16, 2017, 12:05:50 PM
i don't think we can call what they do "mathematical".

technical analysis is mostly pseduscinece, and by no means fool proof. it mostly gives some guidance to better guess the future movement.

and in my personal opinion technical analysis won't work at all in altcoins and will work a little with bitcoin since bitcoin price is moving more logically and altcoins prices are mostly pump and dump.
but that doesn't mean TA is useless though. you can still use it and get some good speculation out of it.
2188  Economy / Speculation / Re: Teh boook of HODL, CH 2 on: May 16, 2017, 11:55:58 AM
somebody called my name Grin

there are some terminology in this post that doesn't exist in my books.
"target of $2000"
"sell"
"dump"

my moto is "i will hodl until i can spend".

what you have here is most probably a burn address, meaning an ethereum address (account) with no private key and any coins sent to it will never be usable.
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Proof_of_burn

you may want to change your title to represent your question not a vague thing.
2190  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the best Ethereum wallet? on: May 16, 2017, 11:23:15 AM
in my experience with the wallets and the system requirements they take, i think the best option is a web wallet preferably the exchange itself. this may not be safe but granted the small window of time that i will be holding any ethereum i can take that risk.
2191  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin *A Game Changer* on: May 16, 2017, 11:17:43 AM
how about some real game changers:
1. decentralized and peer to peer.
nobody can block your account, take your money, tell you how to use or not use it. where to use it,...
nobody can change it without the whole network agreeing to the change.

2. 100% secure and unhackable.
all the systems such as credit cards,... have been hacked numerous times. bitcoin IS NOT hackable and they have been trying for 8 years.

3. privacy.
as in you not needing to give all your documents and pictures, etc to the merchant just to buy something with your money. and also a certain level of anonymity.

4. irreversible transactions.
this gives the merchants the security they have always wanted while using payment systems such as paypal (with charge back and fraud) and credit cards (with lots of hacks and fraud).

5. open source
2192  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hoarding or Spending, Which Is More Important in the Cryptocurrecy Ecosystem? on: May 16, 2017, 11:06:39 AM
Without hoarders there would be no reason to hoard. The price would drop as hoarders dumped their coins to buy product.
this is only true if you are assuming bitcoin is not money!
but it IS money.

and with that deffinition what you said makes zero sense. when you spend you are putting the coins from your cold storage (in your mattress) into circulation. and that only helps the economy of bitcoin.

The vast majority of Bitcoin holders get their coin by mining it. If all they ever did was mine and immediately sell for fiat
you can't immediately sell bitcoin that is earned through mining (aka from coinbase transaction) because that transaction can not be spent until it is at least 100 blocks deep.

and they do immediately spend it as soon as they can because majority of them are pools and have to pay the miners and miners have to pay the bills and grease some palms to continue operating with cheap electricity.
2193  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Digibyte to Bitcoin. Did I make a bad move? on: May 14, 2017, 11:26:53 AM
-snip-
If you bought Xrp on march 1 (wich i did) you would have a profit of 3855%
Btc profit margin sucks

hmm.
a solid 100-200% rise each year for bitcoin based on real adoption by real people, merchants, big businesses such as Valve last year, small businesses all around the world, and only rise and no fall apart from price corrections.

vs.

pump, where price goes up 4000% in a week to a month and then free falls down back to the usual low price levels within 1 week for some altcoins and a couple of months for the big ones.

hmm a tough choice indeed.
2194  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Disappearing coins on poloniex on: May 14, 2017, 11:20:44 AM
this is a new thing that i hear, all i heard was people complaining that Poloniex is saying they are under DDoS attack but trading works and it doesn't work for them!

meaning they sat behind their computer watching others sell (who these others are, is not clear yet) and they could not do anything. nothing worked and they kept getting logged out of poloniex!

all you can do is to send them a ticket. and if you missed the chance to sell, they won't care.
2195  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: tell me some strategy about trading?? on: May 13, 2017, 11:51:14 AM
hey.. I am newbie this forum..I am sign in different trading site.bt I don't understand how can improve my trading...I have already loss.0.007btc.. plz anybody help me..

First, the good trading platform is bittrex, c-cex and nova exchange these sites so far was good to me, I don't see any problems
using it especially using bittrex, it was really nice and cool. Cheesy

i am also using bittrex and i am quite happy with the service but i have to say c-cex is small and has some good features, although it doesn't seem like the best option.
also i don't usually see nova exchange anywhere! they are way too small to be relevant in this market. and checking their orderbooks and history it seems like not that many are trading on this platform.
2196  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think bitcoin price will crash again in 2017? on: May 13, 2017, 11:43:01 AM
-snip-
The past isn't a guide to the future though!

It's hard to tell what is going to happen - if the blocksize thing gets going again, we might look at some people selling. Ditto advances in some of the alts.

it actually is a good guide for the future, but that is just it, past is only a guide not a prediction.

and i would love to see some more advances in alts, i always love more profit on bitcoins that i will continue hodling Wink

in 2017, i don't think so because usually we have only 1 crash per year and we already had that this year.

Hahahahaha first of all wtf? What crash? That flash crash/20% dip when the ETF was rejected? Omg. And secondly there can be as many crashes as there are hacks or issues so that is a really stupid way to think about the price of bitcoins. I'm a permabull too but even that is just so stupid and naive I can't believe someone would think it were true. Oh and let me guess, bitcoins doubled in price last year so they'll double in price every single year for the rest of our lives, right? Durp. Past performance does not equal future performance. Just like any stock broker will tell you Smiley

well i am naive and stupid! there is no reason to point finger and laugh Cheesy

and i disagree whilst having my naiveté. past performance can be an indication of future performance, it is not equal to it and i didn't say that in my original comment either.
also the whole technical analysis is based on past performance, every single line that is drawn on charts is based on "past performances" and it is a guide
2197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Digibyte to Bitcoin. Did I make a bad move? on: May 13, 2017, 11:37:20 AM
lets check some prices shall we.
DGB price 3 years in May today was about 80 satoshi
after 3 years today DGB price is 106 satoshi today.
that means 32% profit
even if you had bought in Apr at 40 satoshi that would be 165% profit

bitcoin was $440 3 years ago in May
after 3 years it reached $1800 and now it is at $1750 as i am writing this.
that means 297% profit in 3 years.

now here is the thing to have in mind. bitcoin price will go up and if you look at the history of bitcoin it was rising in the past 3+ years for the most part.
now DGB or any other altcoin for that matter, will drop hard after this pumping phase ends. if you look at their history, they had lots of similar rises and falls. from 30 sat to 150 sat in a couple of days or a week then back to 30 sat again. rinse and repeat.

that is why i always say
bitcoin=long term
altcoins=short term
2198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: will litecoin recover on: May 13, 2017, 11:20:40 AM
there are a lot of good news for litecoin, so i think it is safe to assume that things aren't over as far as rising up is concerned.
of course the rise was mostly because of the hype as we suspected and that meant it finished before the actual thing happened.

but now, we will soon see the effect of the real thing, meaning the effect of SegWit actually working on litecoin, there has already been some SegWit transactions on litecoin. and soon the hype will begin again.

also on top of that, the developers are currently working on lightning network and also a couple of additional features on litecoin which were enabled with SegWit activation. and that means we also will have another big hype coming to litecoin.

right now it is time to dip and accumulate, so have fun.
2199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Palestine to create their own national cryptocurrency on: May 13, 2017, 11:12:57 AM
Provided that cryprocurrency network's can be prone to remote attacks K don't see why an entire state would really on a national one. Perhaps this is just another piece of fake news because I don't see how this could be true.

what is a "remote attacks K"?

anyways this is my understanding of these cryptocurrencies:
these things are usually a centralized altcoin they create to make their internal transactions safer and it is not open to public like bitcoin or altcoins. this means it is like how banks are communicating with each other now but in a much safer manner and using a different technology to keep the records also on their internal blockchain.
2200  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: i look for a trading site for change wmz - okpay - perfect money To each other on: May 12, 2017, 01:09:38 PM
i saw a website called xmlgold.eu that had many of these different currencies which you could convert to each other. it cetainly had Okpay and PerfectMoney and bitcoin when i checked it.

however i never used the site myself but it looked old and i believe they have a topic on bitcointalk too, you have to search for it.

edit: the topic: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1415473.0
