Windows has some stupid limits with how many USB ports it can detect. I've had it run fine with 25, but then complain when i hook up another 50 port hub to it. I've ran 42 on an Pi in testing, hooked up with 2 49 port hubs. Thanks for the reply. What hubs are you using? Thanks for this video, is there enough clearance with the fans installed on the heatsinks to stack them up side by side like that on the hub you are using? Are you planning to run your rig at 100% TDP ? If you pay for electricity you might want to lower your TDP to be more efficient and more profitable and you won't have to deal with any PSU issues

How is everyone, Spent the weekend digging a 2 ft deep trench to lay the 200ft of pex line in my backyard over the weekend. Just booted up the rig on distilled water and started it up mining... Currently i have zero radiators or fans in the circuit on 6 x 1080ti's. 6 x 1080ti's (already had) 6 x Barrow GPU Blocks $53.99ea 12 x G1/4 ABS barbed fittings $3.88 per bag of 6 1 x 960 gallons/hr 120v pump $55.99 1 x Water Pressure Reducing/dump valve set to 15psi $28.99 250ft of pex line So far its running stable on temps, gonna run it for a few days to see if temps start to heat soak the ground. The pump i may change back to gravity fed system, i really dislike the amount of power being drawn on the pump with it pumping against so much resistance and dumping the majority of the water back into the system.  This could be really good if you were looking to put in radiant heat. And then shift to a swimming pool during the summer. I am quite happy with the Evga hybrids in my garage noise level is low and basement den tv room is good. |

it earns 7.40 usd a month so it pays off in 10 months not 24 months. If you run a pc with a gpu or 2 or 3. it is making money already. Fwiw - I was a windows only guy. But phil and a few others here talking about smos all the time has me converted. The only problem with smos is no wifi. Which I have a few rigs on wifi to spread them out throughout my house.
What's the big sell of Simple Mining over say nvOC? simple mining allows me world wide access via his website. easy to manage as I have gear in multiple sites. I now run: 5 rigs with buysolar and the solar array 3 rigs with my buddy Ira at his office 5 rigs in my garage 26 a month for next to perfect control since I am mining about .6 zec a day or 18 zec a month . I can pay the fees for ease of management. Since buysolar is building a 3 stage of expansion array about 75 minutes from our homes. We will need ease of management that smos provides. we may do 17kwatts then 34kwatts then 51kwatts that is about 17 rigs then 34 rigs then 51 rigs over the next 2 years nvOC is free but it is more difficult to set up access and switching and rig restarts. if you have 1 location with under 5 rigs nvOC is fine. Just want to say thanks for the detailed post above with regards to SmOS and windows requirements for than motherboard. I currently run Windows only and don't have any issues. What would you say is the biggest drawback to SmOS? My concern is the speed of updates on miners. As currently I can compile new miners myself. I have windows 10 on 2 rigs and I have windows 7 on one rig. windows simply needs more care then smos. but windows will allow more coins and al-gore-rhythms then smos will. and some mobos will help windows issues as will some mobos will hurt windows issues. for bulk mining like I do with say 27000-29000 sols of zec in 3 soon to be 4 places smos is better then windows. but if you do an exotic shit coin windows is more likely to be able to do it. I have been able to find a good coin and send hash to it on windows for months. they are smaller hash rates so pointing say 3 1070's and 2 1080 tis will do well. pointing all the gear does not. Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen,
I would like to pick your brains regarding one of my rigs that freezes solid after a few days. I have changed the add2psu, swapped around risers, changed PSU's but with 2x Zotac 1080ti mini and 4x 1070ti it dies on a regular basis. Specs:
Windows 10, latest updates
Latest nvidia drivers
Asus Z270-P with latest bios
4GB ram
intel G3930
m.2 SSD 128GB
1 EVGA 750W and 1 EVGA G1 1000W
When it freezes the fans are still running at whatever speed they were running prior to freezing. Event logger doesn't help but these are the only errors and stuff I can see there:
-License Activation (slui.exe) failed with the following error code:hr=0x80070422 (I assume it's because this copy is not registered)
-The description for Event ID 0 from source igfxCUIService2.0.0.0 cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event. The following information was included with the event: Received Post Shell Event 1
The other thing I noticed is that the mouse cursor is lagging in teamviewer on that machine.
I am completely out of ideas. The only thing I can think of now sending the ram, mobo and cpu back to amazon and getting new ones. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
The igfxCUIService2.0.0.0 warning is related to the Intel HD graphics on the CPU. Try disabling it in the BIOS. It will probably be called 'integrated graphics' or 'iGPU'. Also Teamviewer can cause issues, try using VNC. Thanks, I will try to disable it and run it without that. (the monitor is actually plugged into that in case I wanna sit in front of it) I do use teamviewer on all my rigs, so far no issues with it but I am happy to try anything on this rig as it drives me complete nuts. If you have any other ideas please do not hold back! Ps.: That raises another questions, if the igpu is screwed doesn't that mean that the processor is faulty? not or maybe the cpu is bad. but windows and 6 cards with only a celeron and 4gb things happen. look for how much cpu usage. See if you are over 45% do you use afterburner? it will show you cpu useage you should try that rig with smos . I have found smos can use a shit cpu and 4gb ram without much issue. I have found windows need more cpu and more ram. this happens on the bigger rigs. I still use windows on a few rigs but much more rigs on smos. What you said coupled with the iGPU problem I think I will return the G3930 and order something beefier. I just have to figure out which one would be good enough price/power consumption-wise. I will give SMOS a shot see if it works with that. Do you think this Intel Pentium® Processor G4560T would be enough or I gotta go higher to an i3? That Celeron 3930 is working for me on a BIOSTAR TB250 MoBo with 9 GPUs on Windows 10. Hi All, as a small scale miner I am finding the transaction fees to transfer my bitcoins from my wallet extremely high (over 10-15%). I understand this is because it consists of many small transfers in. Does anyone have any recommendations to help avoid this? I had read it may be possible to mine to an exchange address (though this is inadvisable normally...) and then transfer out in chunks to own wallet. Any advice is much appreciated.
okay many methods can work you can try mining directly to an exchange. you can try doing a low fee like 30 sats a byte then using a tx accelerator. you can mine at a pool that is small and does not hit many blocks. you get a bigger share when you hit but it can take a month to hit that block this one http://mmpool.org/or this one http://bravo-mining.com/don't hit blocks often |

here we go any gear using 1200 watts is far better off on a 220-240 circuit. the antminer s-9 = loud loud loud and if you want one you really can't get it that quiet. the avalon 741 can be lowered a bit to use 1000 watts and run on normal power in the usa. the dragon mint does not exist and is vaporware for now. it may be real or it may be a scam. so can you have a 220-240 volt 30 amp circuit put in for maybe 4 s-9s? can you stand the heat they will put off? and can you stand the noise?
