So far so good, I just ran my sanctuary report and the nodes are all in sync and agree with the explorer (Chainz has already upgraded):

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/bbp/block.dws?170840.htm

Please, if anyone finds a discrepency after upgrading - post.

I'll verify POBH 2.0 and DWS next.  Caution:  Although DWS appears to be working now, I caution against using it for a few days until we verify we are exchange ready.  We don't want a burn in the chain to get rolled back when more hashpower gets added (as you could lose the funds if your burn is not recorded in the main chain).

Out of curiosity, what's the difference between the bbpminer-x86.exe and the bbpminer32.exe binaries?  Thanks!

The x86 version is the 64 bit version, and the 32 is for 32 bit processors.
(I remember we had to add the 32 for Prof. Budinga when he reported the 64 bit didn't run on his 32 bit windows xp machine).

Good luck.  I see our diff is around 5K.  Not sure if this is because of low switchover rates or if this is the new environment.

BiblePay
1.4.8.6-Mandatory Upgrade for Entire Network @ 170830

- Increase sanctuary protoversion to 70751 (Enable new consensus rules
for PODC - fix low payment bug)
- Adjust deflation rate to match target in GetBlockSubsidy
- Add anti-gpu measures to POBH (reject high-nonce blocks)
- Mandatory height: 170830
- Adjust DWS creation and validation for DWS 2.0
- Add upgradesanc warning when no \r\n exists (Togo)
- Add addl warnings to exec rac, and ensure exec rac does not crash the
node
- Remove dead code from miner; modify miner to handle anti-gpu nonce
rules

** Note: We also have a mandatory upgrade for the external miner, please find the binaries here:
https://github.com/biblepay/cpuminer/tree/master/binaries

** Sanctuaries, please upgrade also

** The new POBH 2.0 rules do not start until 170830, so in the mean time, the pool will reject most of the shares.  As soon as this height passes the pool should start working correctly.  The pool is coming back online now.

POOLS:  Please upgrade.  The software has been updated here:
https://github.com/biblepay/node-stratum-pool/commits/master
To upgrade please follow the upgrade instructions in this document:
https://github.com/biblepay/node-open-mining-portal/blob/master/Deploy%20a%20Nomp%20BiblePay%20Pool.txt

** BBP Network Wide update **

So, I heard back from all the exchanges and they all have put us in maintenance.

This puts us in a good position to release our new mandatory upgrade and regression test/verify it tomorrow in prod, to ensure the anti-gpu feature works as expected.  Once we verify DWS and Anti-GPU, then we will give the exchanges the green light to upgrade.

So the timeline looks something like this now:

- We will release the new mandatory upgrade in the next few hours.
- The cutover height is for tomorrow at 9 AM.
- We will verify DWS and Anti-GPU in prod tomorrow.  Then we give the exchanges the green light to upgrade Tuesday.
- Sometime tomorrow, I will be working on releasing an upgrade to the external miner.  This will be required to work with the new version.

Please keep your eyes peeled for the mandatory upgrade.  The chain will cutover at height 170830.

Sanctuaries, we are going to take this opportunity to require a mandatory Sanc upgrade at the same time.  This upgrades the PODC rules to the latest which fixes the low payment bug also.

If the pool is currently disabled, is the processing we're doing now being wasted?  Thanks!

No, the hashpower is not wasted because what happens is the stratum error (cant connect to pool) occurs, then it sleeps, so it doesnt use electricity; but yes, the miner would have to be restarted in solo mining mode to make the hashes count.

Actually this is a good point, because we would like everyone to help keep the network secure, so please run your biblepay client in solo mining mode if possible.

226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BiblePay | 10% to Orphan-Charity | POBH CPU | Sanctuaries (Masternodes) on: January 18, 2020, 10:05:41 PM
We have 31 Megahash hitting nomp.biblepay.org (this is about 31* the normal rate).
I see the pool has solved over 75 blocks, which is way above normal.
SouthXChange even asked me about this, please if anyone has any idea what is going on let me know.

From what I can see, everything is fine.
All of our sanctuaries are in sync at the current height (looking at the advanced view, which shows the hash), so I know the chain is solid.

Im happy to see 55 WCG/smart-contract participants!   God bless you.

Ok, so we finally have an answer on this 31 megahash hitting the pool:  we believe Marcino ported BBPs miner to a GPU.

Thats impressive, but, I don't believe we should become a GPU coin.  We have something to offer the PC community (and also for using commodity pcs).

This schedule is subject to change, but let me lay out a rough call to action:

- Block any user in the pool that hits with more than 1mh/s
- Work the ticket that we have, where we equalize the hash speed between solo and external mining
- Finish the next gen cpu miner in testnet
- Test CPU mining and the new dash changes that have been released (Nov-Dec 2020 changes) all at once in testnet
- Release our new cpu miner in our next mandatory upgrade (March 2020)

** UPDATE **

- We are going to release a GPU mitigation release (a mandatory upgrade) within 7 days.  This is primarily due to the decision that we don't want an unfair advantage floating around for GPUs while CPUs make a lesser share.  Additionally we don't want any potential security vector attacks to be possible.  So please be ready to upgrade within 7 days.  We will also be notifying exchanges.  (This release will also include our necessary changes to fix the PODC low-payment bug for users who do not meet the escrow reqs).
- MIP has been speaking with Marcino and he tells me he is not acting in a hostile fashion.  He is keeping his hashpower low and not attacking the coin.
- I have taken the pool offline for now.  I'll bring it up later after the upgrade (as it is just a cat & mouse game to keep it running).
- We sent Marcino info on our POBH bounty.  Afaik it will be paid to him, as I believe he has met the requirements.
- We will still focus on designing and releasing our next gen cpu-miner after this mandatory patch is released.
- The patch will be nomp compatible, and will also make solo mining equal to external mining (based on the most recent information).

Just got my first PODC 2.0 payment and I am very happy.

Instead of using my stations for energy wasting, I am using them again to help WCG  Grin

Thanks alot team, and especially Rob for the hard work !

Thanks my friend.

It does feel good to use our computer time for good causes again.

I am choosing to say publicly a few things, and I will say a few others in private. I was just looking today about returning, and I'm sad to see that this community still seems to be at odds, and unable to truly work together as a unified force.

That said, my personal public opinion is that while not all dirty laundry needs aired, I wish there wasn't so much deleting. I think the record is capable of standing for itself, and I see no issue with leaving dissenting or disagreeing bgg points of view up. Conversations that should be private can and should of course be taken there as quickly as possible, but when I see a thread with 330+ deletions, that raises more questions than I think is helpful.

Just my two cents. As always, I believe that everyone here supports the mission and wants what is best
If we keep that in mind, many things can be overcome.

Dear Noxpost,

Thank you for your post.  From my perspective, after putting in a massive amount of work in the blog and a continuous amount of programming in the coin and its related systems, I feel that these last (few recent posts) are mischaracterizing the deleted post sitation by default into censorship without a full analysis.

Since I know you are an MVP here, I feel this would be a good opportunity to analyze the situation from beginning to end and then help draw a summary of this for us, and then you can post the actual conclusion as a third party.

Will you please do me a favor, since you have cited the 330 deleted posts as a huge problem (pointing to blog censorship) could you e-mail me, and what we will do is go through the procedure of summarizing each of the deleted posts and content into its characterized category and content, and then lets make a call together on the feeling if this content should have been deleted or not.

Then Ill let you make a public summary of what we find together, and a recommendation of what we should do to our policy going forward.

Rob@biblepay.org

PS:  Regarding the statistic itself, when my posts are deleted by a moderator they count as deleted also.  And they get deleted quite a bit when they contain keywords.

PS2:  Regarding infighting, yes of course its sad a new argument exists this week, but why is it happening?  But if we had 10,000 members like we should, one persons argument should not give you the conclusion that we are 'at odds with each other and infighting'.  But I do think the community should do more to root out infighting (IE be a force for God that does not condone it at all - and we should all hate the essence of discord/malencholy).  And, yes, all of us should have the common courtesy to talk in private.  Ill delete the infighting post because its not professional.

I also see that this situation continues, and I would like to say my opinion, even I know that my post may be deleted.

Sometimes , some opinions or objections are made to make something better.

The same is true in the world. There are objections and opinions. It is also a kind of expectation.

The most terrifying thing is that no one left a comment more, this means no longer interested in that object, and no more expectation.

I also think that don't need to delete it deliberately, if it so I will feel like in a country of excessive self-censorship ...such as North Korea or China

Dear Eternal,

I hope you realize that this blog has never been about censorship.  I've had a few people Accuse me of censoring, because I've deleted posts.
It's been more about refusing to leave up misleading or unfounded information for investors, or removing swearing.

Let me reply to noxpost and please follow this, and let's sort out the root of the problem.

Hopefully you can agree that posts have not been deleted in a long time, but sporadically issues occur that requires moderation.

My posts are deleted quite a bit by the moderators here and sometimes I have to repost them.

Rob, have you noticed Leaderboard numbers states the numbers for current daily GSC block range.

I thought this was a deliberate change because with fixed WCG tx on the same block, I thought you could have the leaderboard reflect today's earning. Sounds like from previous post, there is still 48 hour lag?

Well the leaderboard block range was updated yes to match the superblock that is voted on for the participants in the leaderboard UI, yes.

But specifically on Capulo, he referenced a txid that was *paid* 100 blocks ago, meaning the source of the rac was from 3 days ago (which was the day the file was hosed badly).

It always takes 3 days in total from end to end in the pipeline from being a new user to actually getting the payment.

what changed was, that i added some computers, so rac maybe goes up faster than covered by coinage... but i'm not sure

second problem is that automatic updates are not working for me, i set frequency to 100, but no update was made with this setup (previously, 24h updates works automaticaly)
pog_foundationdonation=1000
pog_coinagepercentage=.99
gen=0
dailygscfrequency=100
should i set something else? or maybe gen=1?

The dailygscfrequency is probably OK (thats twice per day).  More than likely, please see if something is in the log:
   LogPrintf("\nCreateAllGSCTransmissions %f, Campaign %s, Error [%s].\n", GetAdjustedTime(), s.first, sError1);
   LogPrintf("\nWARNING [%s]", sWarning);

Btw, you dont have to worry about gen=1 anymore, we send the GSC's out from the main thread now.  (At the height in 'exec rac').

Let me look into the other one.

Actually it looks like you are sending two out per day; they all have sufficient coin*age in the transmissions... so the log will probably show "success" for all of them.

I think the entirety of the issue is this:  The low payment of 6500, that was actually based on RAC you generated 3 1/2 days ago (payments occur 48 hours after the superblock is assimilated).  So, looking at what was happening 3 days ago, thats the day we found all the 1000 buffering problems in the data.  I believe you were affected by this incorrect calculation.
What happened is it boosted your rac by 3 figs, which would leave you with not enough to cover.  Then we move your rac down by an exponent of 1^3 (which is the bug that was fixed in this current version that is not spork enabled yet).  That would explain the tiny payment.

So now that the data is accurate each day this should not happen again.  Btw, we are going to enable the spork around the end of the month, along with Chainlocks, and a sanctuary upgrade, etc.  I will announce all this at least 7 days in advance.

In PODC, if "exec rac" is OK, should I ran "exec sentgsc <CPK>" twice a day or automatic system working fine ?

Automatic works fine.

Question:
In Leader Board, assuming WCG, what is the meaning of :
1) points
2) owed
3) prominence

1= Your researcher RAC for the Day
2= The amount in BBP you earned for that days research
3= Your magnitude.  This is your % of contribution to the team in research.

Dear Rob / Biblepay fans,

Recently I noticed that the health of BBP is not ideal.

I recommended that use the remaining funds which of apply for listing purpose for direct repurchase to increase the value of BBP.

I don't think potential investors will buy a currency that has been declining in value for a long time

I suggest BPP to promote market that if many people focus on this coin that listing will be great.

In the last quarter , BBP spend a lot of money on listing exchange , TOKOK exchange is a shit but why BBP team listing here? i don't know

Next, the Graviex exchange is great listing on masternode coin but if already no volume on this market will easy to dis-listing.

SXC exchange is keep going the run and change the BTC to 9 (0.000000000 BTC).

Anyway, BBP was great , Please keep running.

Well I also share in your feelings, and thanks for posting them.  I couldnt be more unhappy with how unequally yoked we are with tokok (that is with the deceptive volume & volume tradebox etc).  At the time we signed up for tokok, we got a false sense of value in the stated volume of $440 mil per day.  (Obviously it turned out to be a bad investment, worth probably .20 btc total instead of 2.0 btc).  I've been praying recently, for God to make a breaking change with Tokok, to make them equally yoked with his minimum integrity level.  I also reached out to Graviex, and paid for the integration fee to try to give some value back to bbp for this.  And I also got a commitment from Coinsbit, and I will pay for that out of my pocket also to help give us 3 exchanges for the price of one.

Regarding future plans, first on using the foundation funds to raise our price, unfortunately since the funds are already in BBP we wont get very far if we sell those and try to use the BTC to buy BBP as the bot on SX usually sells the coins it buys higher, I think in this case we need to make a grass roots fundamental repair to our ecosystem and just spend it on charity.  I think we only have a few hundred $ anyway in the account.

I just posted one idea (Charity Agent).  Lets see where this takes us.  If we can reduce our charity expenses to a % based on price in the future, give the investors a real reason to buy BBP (IE a positive price impetus in everything we do) and provide a solid service then we will succeed.

hetzner

benestra
master internet

fastest web providers or Huh?

Its not the internet host; its because we use a layer slider in our wordpress site.  The layer slider has a 1.5 seconds delay in creating the slider object (which is a 3rd party plugin).  Then the button takes a while to render.  Its just unoptimized architecture in WORDPRESS.

Togo is looking at a different type of button for the sliding images.

Obviously if we used an HTML theme it would be blazing fast.

Dont worry, once we figure it out we will cache the landing page.
