221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Foundation on: September 27, 2012, 11:10:52 PM
who ever doesn't like this new development with foundation can vote with their bitcoin,
just sell,
it is that easy
No, you sell. We will be fighting to keep the network as it is.

This is not an experiment. This is not a toy. This is real money, real value and a new frontier in liberty. We will not be losing it to a central authority.

why should I sell ?
no complaints here

and so many "real moneys" have vanished through history, ended up as experiments,
each of us is living our own experiment

I think this is good, it solves part of the "tangibility" and backing issue that people have against bitcoin

225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: GoldMoney [FB post]: James Turk in conversation with Félix Moreno de la Cova on: September 21, 2012, 01:54:32 AM
Lots of discussion going on in the Youtube comments. I posted a hell of a lot, need sleep now. Someone take over for me. In case you're wondering, I have Sabbetus as my nickname over there.

I see u put a lot of energy into discussion with the lower class Smiley
why bother ?

You cant get logically into their emotional way of "thinking".
It's more like reacting, and not thinking.
Math, logic, pure healthy reason, they simply don't work,
most people lead their lives based on some set of beliefs,
they build worldviews on emotional reactions, and they got those from people around them

they are their worldview, they become one with their stance on issues of debate,
and just like with addiction, old ego must die for them to be able
to accept new ideas

I am trying to set myself free from arguing with "them" for quite some time...
best way to get them in, imo, is through low instincts,
to entice their greed, envy, to show that you benefited from it and to create doubt in them by being better off,
then ego is able to change because it is endangered, it sees that you could survive easier with it, than he without it.

do like you would do with a chimp,
he won't listen, but when he sees how u reached a banana, he will do the exact thing you did.
just say, i bought bitcoin, then sold it and earned myself a bycicle, that should do the work,
not that bitcoin solved double spend problem or whatever...

long replies also are a mistake,
u become the one who explains things, and it is a weak position, not a position of power.
226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: GoldMoney [FB post]: James Turk in conversation with Félix Moreno de la Cova on: September 21, 2012, 12:57:34 AM
goldbugs demand tangibility, what they actually mean is :
I want to be able to be the only one who can touch it.
when someone translates them that their word "tangibility" means "absolute ownership"
they should be able to get on the right track to understanding advantages of bitcoin

and about backing,
it is backed by me not wanting to sell it (cheap)
227  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a 100% anonymous way to make BTC payments? on: September 15, 2012, 10:30:17 PM
buy wallet.dat and password
from someone through OTC
or through site like btcnearme.com
228  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Italy to ban cash transactions over €50 in 2013 on: September 13, 2012, 06:55:49 PM

how would they spend gold and buy a car ?
229  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Trust Building List on: September 13, 2012, 09:34:30 AM
modern "engineers" will be good guys until they become bad guys

so,
only if they submit ID scans to a trusted (by vote) forum member who will do skype session with them,
people can be considered trustworthy,
other categories are simply not enough for even 1 satoshi of trust
imo

I did a few transactions through this forum, never got burned, but maybe it was pure luck
230  Economy / Speculation / Re: another hype before halving or not ? on: September 12, 2012, 07:25:56 PM
I could see a rally into halving event.

I would like to see a real shortage next summer,
by then coins could run dry on the ask side.
231  Economy / Speculation / another hype before halving or not ? on: September 12, 2012, 03:10:54 PM
I don't expect price to go over 15 before new year,
it is amazing to see it holding above 10.
232  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crowd-fund a Bitcoin-centric game (a proposal) on: September 11, 2012, 05:12:53 PM
yes, p2p for sure, to avoid problems with legality,

and u must have a concept that includes giving away bitcoin dust for free,
to a lot of players , so you can have player base,
base your economy on beggars and you won't go bust Smiley

something lik winning players could have helpers or whatever,
and they then leave some dust behind for followers/helpers to collect

like in sea, sharks have small fish trailing along for chunks that fall behind after feast

how about a game like anno1777 ?
it looks sustainable, players get real money in and out,
I can't quite get the busyness model, but players are happy

Wow, anno1777 sounds intriguing from the feature list. However, the site shows nothing of the game itself. From the description, it sounds like if that's what you want, just play anno1777! Sounds very hard-core though, in terms of the environment. My idea is rather more light.

I am playing it, and it is not so heavy as it might seem,
player only has his 1 page with 20 buttons,
"buy food", "go to work", "rent a house", "attack" and status is printed in text,
there is no graphics at all, only a few places where timer is running

there is probably a lot of work on database in the background,
in coordination of all different aspects of the game.

if they only accepted bitcoin...

one nice idea from anno is that they pay dividend to shareholders of the game,
shares and dividends are handled directly within the game, player has a button to buy or sell shares at all times
dividends are paid after game fund reaches 10k eur, it happens at least once a month, and dividends pay 1 cent per share,
one share is 32 cents, so it is quite impressive,

it has been going on for a few years now, and seems sustainable

236  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Date for 25 BTC per Block on: September 07, 2012, 11:25:14 AM
I don't know where to post this, so here it is :

are there any concerns about something like Y2K syndrome ?

are miners supposed to change something in their code ?

will the number of btc per block be the only thing that will change ?
237  Economy / Speculation / Re: We can write off Pirate from the market. on: August 27, 2012, 05:55:21 PM

So what would be pirates motivation to talk?
If he wouldn't have the money he would propably be long gone.
If he was planning this from the beginning, why make personal contacts and have references to personal information?

sexual arousal,
gloating,
joy of leading you on and on,

now when I look at this, I am starting to feel it to :=)

u must be gettin' better and better...
239  Economy / Economics / Re: Bring your best economic jokes on: August 25, 2012, 07:55:06 PM
two economists walk along the road and stumble upon a shit,
one says to the other: I'll give u 200 bucks if you eat it
and the other one immediately seizes a good deal

not long after, they find another shit by the road,
now the second one offers the same deal to the first one,
and deal, being such a good one, is also done

they walk for a while, and suddenly one realizes that
they both ate a shit and had no profit from it,
but then happily conclude that they made a nice turnover
240  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: James Turk's Q&A with GoldMoney followers includes section on Bitcoin on: August 18, 2012, 11:24:12 AM
we should have a bitcoin kit

a collection of a few links like wikipedia, a few threads in this forum, and a few articles
all that packed with a foreword written by evorhees or a few respectable members here
to actually give proper starting point for bitcoin exploration

when those kind of people hear about it, they probably google it, and find a bunch of contradictions, then conclude the "safe
path"

it would be nice if Turk got this and had his second chance to grasp btc
