221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Cause behind the Fall on: January 17, 2018, 05:45:06 PM
Selling feeds a sell off.  Two peices of bad news, some sell, other see it, sell off.  Peoples stop losses start getting breached and other wave of selling.  Then the Europe wakes up does the same... then America wakes up does the same... 50% sell off and counting.

For all the "argh i lost my life savings" remember a lot of people would have been sitting on a lot of profit (still are!) and decided to take what they've got.

I agree! Bad news after bad news, triggers a race to sell. They sell, thinking it's the only opportunity they have left to get they money back (or a fraction). Which floods the market with supply, effectively crashing its price.
But in the end of the day, who knows. Maybe someone's pulling the strings intentionally, maybe not.
222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin is making this world a better place? on: January 17, 2018, 01:36:24 PM
Well other than the obvious answer that yes because bitcoin is money and i love money, Bitcoin is also proof that blockchain works. Blockchain is so much bigger than bitcoin and it has so much more applications. Thanks to bitcoin popularizing blockchain, more people are paying attention to blockchain. So Yes bitcoin is making the world a better place!
223  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China bans bitcoin EVERY year on: January 17, 2018, 01:28:53 PM
China is definitely one of the largest player out there. What they are doing just gives me more confidence in bitcoin. The way they play with the market just tells me they have stake in this and they wont just let bitcoin die. Or at least until they don't have their own competing crypto currency. If China truly wanted bitcoin banned, they could've done it years ago. China has the most advanced computer security out there. They see everything going on in their country!

224  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin just a big bubble that is ready to burst anytime soon? on: January 17, 2018, 01:04:40 PM
For now, no one knows. Both sides make compelling arguments. Definitely it's showing sign of being a bubble but unlike bubbles in history that burst, bitcoin is still a new technology. It's still developing and growing. Right now it's seen as a stock or an investment. Once they fix the slow confirmation problems, and transactions in Bitcoin becomes faster, people would start using it as a currency. When BTC comes to that level, i think it would be safe to assume that it's not just a bubble that's about to burst.
225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you convince the people to invest in Bitcoin? on: January 14, 2018, 02:42:18 PM
The best way to do so is show them success stories. Better if your own success story. It's also important to make them understand what gives fiat and bitcoin its value and that's the belief of people using it. People believe a piece of paper has value and so it has value and people believe bitcoin has value and so it has. A good explanation that promotes understanding is always the best way to go Smiley
226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin replace gold? on: January 14, 2018, 02:12:14 PM
It really depends on how you see Gold and Bitcoin. As jewelry or a precious metal, Bitcoin could never replace gold. You can't use bitcoins on your circuits and electronics. But if you're speaking of investment or security then yes Bitcoin could replace Gold.

Governments hold gold because unlike fiat ,that needs a central backer, gold has a universal value. It does not matter what country you go to, gold will always have value. Bitcoin could potentially work the same. It has no central backer and it has value because people believe it has value. The main difference is that Bitcoin is much cheaper to store than gold. Imagine how much Fort knox spend everyday on security as opposed to digital security which goverments already spend on.

227  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin community is rising. on: January 13, 2018, 09:23:44 AM
With the popularity of bitcoin growing, also comes government regulations. Bitcoin was founded years ago but most regulations are only starting now. Back then, there wasn't much noise about it and as it became more popular, more people has been using it and countries started regulating it. Regulation brings fluctuation and fluctuation can be seen as opportunity so i think, the bigger community the better. Further more, the bigger community means more power to fight for fairer regulations.
228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the advantages of having Bitcoin? on: November 15, 2017, 12:17:55 PM
One obvious advantage is that you can spend pseudo anonymously. But right now that's very limited because not much stores accept it as payment. Depends on where you live. Another advantage is that it's an investment. You buy and sell to your advantage. It's like owning stocks buy at a low and sell at a high.
229  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is holding bitcoin Greedy? on: November 05, 2017, 06:20:43 AM
It's not greedy. Bitcoin can be thought of as a legit investment and holding on to investment is a strategy and not greed. If everyone holds on to their bitcoins, it would reduce the supply and increase its worth
230  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin a currency or asset? on: November 04, 2017, 03:00:28 AM
It's both. There might be not much stores that accept them as payment, but it's heavily traded among individuals. Existing digitally, it's much more easier to use over the internet and i can very well see the possibility of it being the currency of it in the coming years.
231  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why some country banned bitcoin? on: November 01, 2017, 07:02:15 PM
Other than the issues regarding the problems on anonymity and control that has already been pointed out in the previous posts, Bitcoin is new technology. Governments has yet to understand this technology and asses if it's a threat to them. I am speculating that the bans are purely temporary and experimental. Because they have not yet came up with a set of regulations, they issued bans to give them time to study how it's going to impact them.
232  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Myths on: November 01, 2017, 06:51:54 PM
I do agree with him with most of his points and i do find the article quite insightful.

Myth #5: The blockchain is decentralized, therefore it is indestructible

It's true that decentralization is not equal to invincibility. However it's much harder to corrupt multiple establishments rather than one. According to the article, the top 4 miners hold control over bitcoin. This might be true for now, but as the popularity of bitcoin increases, more and more miners will try to compete with each other. Thus bitcoin will be more secure.

In the conclusion he referred to bitcoin as a pyramid scheme. This might be true for some people who see bitcoin only an an investment. But there are groups of people who see bitcoin as actual currency. Big companies started recognizing it, from amazon to pay pal. Maybe bitcoin would not be used as everyday money, in the future but it can still be the internet's money.
233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2017 is the Year for Bitcoins.... on: November 01, 2017, 04:33:14 AM
Perhaps its these regulations itself that made 2017 the year for bitcoins. At first it did hit a low value, but maybe that's the very reason why a lot of people started to invest in bitcoins. It's proof that they do believe its value will start growing again. Additionally, these regulations created media noise that raise awareness for Bitcoins. These kinds of advertising made people take bitcoins more seriously rather than a scam. Lastly, people always invests in something that China bans. Wink
234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Can We Make Sure Bitcoin Never Ends? on: October 31, 2017, 06:01:39 AM
No one can guarantee the survival of Bitcoin just like no one can guarantee the survival of the dollar. But unlike the dollar bitcoin faces the threat of emerging technologies. You see, bitcoin is an application of cryptography. Breakthroughs in this field can very much threaten the existence of Bitcoin. Also bitcoin is a replacement of our corrupt traditional banking system. Given the opportunity they'll definitely kill bitcoin.
235  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When Can Bitcoin Be Mainstream? on: October 31, 2017, 05:51:33 AM
Bitcoins can be mainstream once big internet countries start adopting it. Once they do, countries where these companies are based will begin taxing them and regulations will be established. These regulations will either encourage or discourage the regular people from using it. But either way these regulations have the potential to make Bitcoins more popular because of the media attention it's going to get. More people will read on bitcoins and they'll think it's amazing just like the rest of us. When regular people start adopting it maybe everyday stores will start accepting them and then maybe even banks would consider using them.
236  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it better to save money or invest it? on: October 30, 2017, 06:03:33 PM
Do both. Save some for security and all the important things. then always invest some of it. Invest in BTC or maybe real estates. Don't leave your money in banks thinking it'll make you richer. Inflation won't be kind to you.
237  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-10-29] Vietnam’s Central Bank Seeks to Ban Bitcoin Activities on: October 30, 2017, 05:00:26 PM
It's amazing how their univertity is embracing new technology. Kudos for them, for being a good example.

It's interesting to see how they'll impose these sanctions. China can't even completely ban facebook or google in their country. Those are centralized servers. How can Vietnam or any other government issue a ban on something decentralized like bitcoins.
238  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why bitcoin so expensive? on: October 30, 2017, 02:48:34 PM
Because just like what Steve Wozniak said it's better than dollars or gold. Unlike Gold, Bitcoin is more mathematical we know exactly how many bitcoins we have circulating after some number of years. That makes investors really interested in it and got them buying more and more raising the demand and with a limited supply, obviously the prices would start to rocket. Also there's this saying that we should invest in everything China bans. Right now BTC is one of those things that china banned. It might be a good indicator to invest on it now.
239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who can destroy Bitcoin ? on: October 30, 2017, 02:35:25 PM
Strict government regulations can defintely make investors black out. That would crash the price of bitcoin and people would just turn away from it.
Another possibility i see, is that advanced technology can make blockchain obsolete. Im purely speculating but perhaps in the future new hardware can be developed that could somehow cheat the voting process done in blockchain.

But for now I think Bitcoin is safe for now. Governments couldn't even regulate child pornography. I don't see a way where they could regulate BTC any time soon.
240  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is really life is beautiful? on: October 30, 2017, 02:20:36 PM
Some will say yes, but for those who struggle so much definitely the answer is no. For me? I struggle a lot, but my answer is still a yes. Why? Simply because I trust God who created us. I take those struggles as a challenge. I believe God would not give us a challenge that we can't handle. He just want us to become stronger and have faith. I'm not the type of girl who always pray, read bible, nor always go to church but in my own way I can proudly say I believed in Him. May God bless us all.

I think it's nice you find comfort in your religion. If you love your religion and it brings you positive change, then why not? It doesn't matter anymore if there's really a God or not. Especially if that's the thing that makes life beautiful for you.
Im not a religious person but I still find life beautiful. It is ugly for me most of the time but whenever it is, It's my obligation to make it beautiful. If i keep it ugly then what's the point of continuing. As long as i keep climbing from the ugliness and i feel like im making progress then i know im living a beautiful life.
