221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: RaiBlocks (XRB) is going to be a top 10 coin on: January 02, 2018, 01:47:36 AM
What is the basis for this coins ascendance? I have not read the whitepaper for this coin. It seems it mooned in just a month.
222  Economy / Speculation / Re: Expecting bitcoin drops below 10K within 24 hours, anyone with me? on: December 22, 2017, 02:17:08 PM
Welcome to crypto world, expecting it to drop more.
Experienced investors timing the market to get more cheap coins.
223  Local / Pilipinas / Re: BDO close accounts that have a history of Transaction with Bitcoin on: December 21, 2017, 10:11:53 PM

224  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will reach 20k price point before Christmas on: December 21, 2017, 07:44:11 PM
With current market sentiment down. Should be next year now.
BTC value have grown too fast, healthy correction incoming.
225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can cryptocurrency make real money disappear? on: December 21, 2017, 07:18:10 PM
Short term (10 years) - not really, just augment it.

Long-term (next 100 years) - strong possibility that people will have found ways to go cashless then. cryptos would be the way to go. Either a mix of full adoption backed by governments (centralized national currencies) and free markets (decentralized) currencies.
226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Segwit2x IS BACK ON! on: December 21, 2017, 06:07:09 PM
Whose team is going to deliver on this promise? Seems a move to defraud the community again and raise BTC prices again.

Time to buy BTC if this is true, as FOMO season will set in again.
227  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Biggest Problem of your Country ?? on: December 21, 2017, 05:56:01 PM
I'm from the Philippines and these are some of my opinion on this.

The biggest problem I find to be the root cause of everything (poverty, rampant crimes etc.) is the lack of sense of community or nationhood. Most Filipinos lack the patriotism that other successful nations have.

Second is the problem of "me first" (seems a big influence from western culture) instead of thinking of the society/community as a whole.
This, in turn, creates an environment wherein cutthroat competition for resources is the norm.
When people value the community first instead of themselves, respect the circumstances of each other and look at the bigger picture we will have a better shot on prosperity.

Example (current events happening)

Transportation modernization - govt is pushing to improve the decrepit jeepneys to be a better mode of transportation. A big group of these jeepney owners and operators are blocking the said program as it will change the way they are profiting from their business. As a show of protest, they froze the transport system for two straight days. I really find it sad that a small group of society can immobilize a city and make life harder for everyone if called upon to sacrifice for the greater good.

Third is overpopulation due to the Catholic church interference. It is currently a double-edged sword, we are currently enjoying the demographic dividends same as China had 20 years ago. Problem is in the next 40 years, the overpopulation we have will surely bite us in the long run. The country is predominantly Catholic so bishops are always countering efforts by the government to curb the rate of birth here. The meddling of the church is not helping those who are most vulnerable in the society to pick themselves up and live decently. The ones having big families are those that are also the poorest. Fuck the bishops saying that it is good to be poor because the God in afterlife will reward them (how sick can these bishops be to sponsor such thoughts).

Just other problems are:

We also have a wrong sense of pride, we take too much pride in superficial things (beauty contest, singing contests, basketball etc.) than on solid gains (economic growth, business confidence).
Smart/wealth shaming is also prevalent as people would just want to be the dumbest/poorest person in the room just not to be noticed. I call this a loser/colonial mentality. Being too confident is looked down upon by most of the society. I think it inhibits the potential of those that are excellent and promoting mediocrity in the society. Yes, we have become a society that celebrates mediocrity instead of excellence.
228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it safe to participate in ICO's? on: December 21, 2017, 05:37:42 PM
Investing is not a safe business to start with. ICOs have been notoriously filled with scams also. With lots of ICOs offering the moon but with no products to back them up, just some half-baked ideas.
Beauty of it though is it a crowdfunding event wherein people can bet some small amount they have for immediate returns.

Just to minimize the risk of being scammed, please practice due diligence first and research extensively on the ICOs you will be participating.

First rule in investing is never lose money.
Second is remember first rule.
229  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Hackable? on: December 21, 2017, 05:34:01 PM
In theory yes. But hackers will have to spend a lot of resources to do it (governments may try though) that it discourages it from happening.

Quantum computing will be able to break the cryptography of the current blockchain technology also.
230  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why rich people with a lot of Bitcoin don't try to improve it? on: December 21, 2017, 05:12:39 PM
Improving it is not for the bitcoin holders to do. It is for the developer community along with the miners (as they maintain the network) to do.
Since consensus is always hard to achieve, that is where the problem on the pace of improvement is coming from.
231  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will the price of bitcoin increase forever? on: December 21, 2017, 04:32:31 PM
Imho, no.

The current pace is unsustainable. Most of the new money flowing in is from people FOMOing and does not understand a bit what the bitcoin technology entails in the future.
They will cash out once they have their gains and move on.

Predicting price to stagnate between 10K and 15K in the next months.
232  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why rich people with a lot of Bitcoin don't try to improve it? on: December 21, 2017, 04:30:31 PM
There should be a voting mechanism in the bitcoin community with regards to its direction.
Nowadays, miners have been too powerful in vetoing certain changes that will affect their bottom line.
Resulting to hard forks that further dilute bitcoin value.

Hard not to see BTC still go down in value in the next weeks. FOMO subsiding nowadays.
233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The whales are cashing out on: December 21, 2017, 04:28:02 PM
Whales will be cashing out and the weak hands will follow suit. It will be a bloodbath. Once the chaos caused by the whales are over.
They will buyback at a lower price, pumping the prices again. Pump and dump imho is real.
234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crazy ICO or Crazy Me? on: December 20, 2017, 09:16:07 PM
My investment strategy has been centered on ICOs as they offer more scaling on ROI in the long term if the project succeeds.
Currently just over 300% gains over the last 3 months. I  just pick projects that are reasonable, provides a good community, has a good product and superb team.
There a lot of reference sites (icorating, icobench) you can use for checking this over the internet.

Advise will be, DYOR. There are a lot of good projects that do not have good returns for some months but moons when milestones are reached.
Good luck in investing.
235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SegWit2x and X11 on: December 20, 2017, 09:09:13 PM
Getting tired of these piggybacking on Bitcoin brand. We had Cash, then Gold, maybe we need BitcoinJesus next.
236  Economy / Economics / Re: Largest bubble ever? Only the fourth so far! on: December 20, 2017, 09:07:47 PM
Bitcoin is really a bubble now and maybe onwards for 10 more years. The stock market is in a bubble too. Everyone is too bullish right now.
Too many people are joining just for speculating on the price without properly understanding the implications of the underlying blockchain technology.

237  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin to be international currency on: December 19, 2017, 08:16:11 PM
Bitcoin is becoming more of a storage of value than becoming a de facto currency.
Fees are going to hurt its usage of the common man.
238  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what do you think my ALT coin portfolio will be like in 1 week? on: December 19, 2017, 08:14:26 PM
https://ibb.co/bBxuum

Would appreciate feedback. going to give some money to my parents in fiat and keep the rest on hodl
(i have some btc/eth/ltc)

Question really is how much would you be giving your parents.

Coins you have still have some room to grow (especially, XVG and TRON) over the next year.
If you withdraw now, you wont have those gains.

On the other hand, most of your coins have made their run already. Probably, If it was me, I'll move some (20%) to fiat.
239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin end? on: December 19, 2017, 08:10:03 PM
Bitcoin will not end, most likely just transform into a totally different currency from today.
With quantum computing nearing mainstream application (10-year horizon), there will be changes in the codes.
It is also consuming a lot of electric power just to verify txns. This can be done by using more energy efficient algorithms.

Still, when we look back 10 years from now. The impact of the underlying technology of bitcoin will be all around. Spirit of bitcoin tech (blockchain) will still live on.
240  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: My Ether Wallet (MEW), is it safe to use it? on: December 19, 2017, 08:06:45 PM
It is safe, I use it to store my ICO tokens and ETH.

Just ensure that you are on the correct website and that you follow their guide on how to maintain your address.

JSON key + a strong password is a good option for passwords. Still, if you want security and safety, use a hardware wallet.
Either from Ledger or Trezor.
