221  Economy / Lending / Re: 1200 BTC loan request - 10-40 % interest on: May 01, 2012, 01:38:31 AM
This loan is for a motorcycle, the amount of money I'll save on gas alone will amount to a couple hundred per month.  I'm not buying a motorcycle to perform stunts on or to ride drunk, so the chance of me dying before the loan's paid off is probably about 1/4000.  I'll still make sure you get your money, even if I'm dead.  I can't guarantee a term for the loan but I can guarantee the loan will be paid in full.  I will provide very favorable interest rates as this loan goes for longer. 8 months max.  My goal is to pay it back within 4 months and I don't expect to take more than 6 months.

-you must drive a lot and/or have a gas hog to be able to save a couple hundred per month on gas alone
-1/4000 are not very good odds. (I know)
-If you can pay it back in 4-6months why cant you wait 4-6 months to make the investment yourself and not worry about owing any interest. Youll be paying so much in interest that saving money on gas will be a moot point.
-What is the exact bike you wish to purchase? I think you should provide such information before asking for a loan. how do you know how much money you need when you dont even know what your buying.

you should stop when your ahead.
222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New bitcoin.org Clients page on: April 30, 2012, 11:53:38 PM
FWIW, here is a picture of my original suggestion, that should IMO still be open for voting on:
I like it but I like the OP too.

Luke-Jr's chart is still too confusing for a non-techie. Once the client page is reached there should be an option to view the full details of every client which would lead to luke-jr's tables.

224  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [IDEA] Casascius physical Bitrings on: April 28, 2012, 02:57:45 AM
If they are wedding rings, half a private key on each of the pair...
I love it but I dont think my fiance would go for it. she said she would go for it.

I like the idea but it all depends on the ring design. Might be better off getting a plain/any ring and having the jeweler in grave it with a private key.(thats a security risk there too having the jeweler engrave it.)
225  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: NamecoinGUI (with bitcoin support) - v0.5.0.18 on: April 27, 2012, 03:31:46 PM

228  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GLBSE - request for next features on: April 21, 2012, 01:02:18 PM
-there should be an button to generate a new bitcoin address instead of it generating on its own. You should see a list of all your deposit address and be able to see the deposit history for each address
-lines around text boxes
-limit ticker length 5 chars + .suffix?
-account history
-BTC balance on every page
-an OPTION to get emails when order is fulfilled
-account to account transfers
Just noticed BTC balance is visible on every page.

I thought of 1 more request.
Deposit History should be moved into the Deposit/Withdraw link. Deposit History table is out of place between sell history/dividend payout. (obviously this isnt a big deal but its another little detail to make the site more comfortable.)
229  Economy / Securities / Re: [ANNOUNCE GLBSE] 1500 PPT.A Pirate Pass Through Bonds on: April 21, 2012, 02:17:46 AM
I was capturing the order book at one minute intervals up to the trigger (my last scrape about 5 seconds before the issue).  Yes, the 500 bid at 1.07 came in the last two minutes.

With four minutes to go, total bids were around 2850 before going to 3500 and then 4174.  At the close it fell to 3585 and could be due to re-bidding.  Embarrassed

Similarly, the cut-off increased from 1.055 to 1.06, 1.07 and then dipped to 1.068.
I got the same information.
230  Economy / Securities / Re: [ANNOUNCE GLBSE] 1500 PPT.A Pirate Pass Through Bonds on: April 21, 2012, 02:06:04 AM
WTF?! Angry
I'd love to have an API to see orders + an orderbook snapshot of that trade... according to my calculations it should have gone down until 1.06 at least, there must have been some hefty snipes in the end!

you didnt refresh soon enough. 2 minutes~ before the deadline the bottom was at 1.07
231  Economy / Securities / Re: [ANNOUNCE GLBSE] 1500 PPT.A Pirate Pass Through Bonds on: April 21, 2012, 02:01:35 AM
:\ had to change my bid b/c it was to low and didnt come through in time. oh well. didnt have a chance to get my coins in from my wallet either.

seems that happened to a few people. I have to move my price over 1.7 to get in but I see some shares sold below that mark so a bunch of coins got stuck out.
232  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Queries about reputation on: April 10, 2012, 07:18:33 PM
Perhaps I assume to much.

OTC refers to a channel on freenode irc servers known as #bitcoin-otc. There is a bot there named Gribble. Once you have gpg you can authenticate with the bot so others will know that you are the <nick> you represent yourself to be.

So first: Get on Freenode IRC servers, then /j #bitcoin-otc

Follow the wiki previously provided to authenticate with gribble the bot. The wiki is very well written and if you 'read' and follow the instructions, you should be able to get through it. Some help may be provided by others once there.

Best Regards.
Oh now that makes sense. That information should be added to the beginning of the wiki

234  Economy / Goods / Re: Over 1000 have been listed on MokiMarket!! on: April 08, 2012, 02:42:45 AM

235  Economy / Goods / Re: (1) FREE $500 Amazon Code giveaway. Make a comment in this thread. on: April 08, 2012, 02:32:17 AM
Im confused. How does this prove your not a scammer or that the gifts cards arent bought with stolen credit cards? Multiple posts for multiply entries makes this thread a spam fest too.
236  Economy / Speculation / Re: MintChip Vs bitcoin, the currency wars are starting... who will win? on: April 05, 2012, 03:19:54 AM
Another denomination of currency they will be using besides CAD. Only similarity to bitcoin is that its purely digital.
237  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Getting Women Naked *and* Empowered through Bitcoin on: April 03, 2012, 12:30:28 AM
disliked the whole stripcoin thing myself. I didnt understand why it was needed all that information could of been linked to and made directly on reddit under r/girlsgonebit. Glad to see you girl(s) taking the initiative. Looking forward to those videos. Going to need to send out a few more bitcoins.
238  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GLBSE 2.0 open for testing on: April 03, 2012, 12:25:04 AM
Didnt realize we had the ability to revote/change our vote. makes sense thanks for clearing it up. Nice work seems you worked hard all day setting up google auth, havent used it myself before but im excited to try it once its ready. I think its a better option then those long auth and private keys we had for glbse 1.0 just because it was hard for some people to figure it out.
239  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GLBSE 2.0 open for testing on: April 02, 2012, 10:07:55 PM
the vote buttons should go away after you vote on a motion. Right now I have a motion from tygrr-bank and every time I click on it I see buttons to vote yes and no when I click on them Im sent back to my portfolio page. Only the option you picked show stay and it should let you know you voted and not let you click anything.
240  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [PROJECT] Insta-wallet competitor (with Firstbits!) on: April 02, 2012, 02:14:10 PM
I dont think its really necessary. It was mentioned in the r/gonewild thread but its easy enough to use coinad or a similar service to get the address into the chain. Maybe if you can give a good example of why someone would need to use a firstbit IMMEDIATELY! how much would you charge for premium bits?

Girl is naked and has a marker in her hand?

edit for elaboration:

compare:

1. go to instantfirstbits.com
2. write your firstbits wherever appropriate

to

1. go to instawallet.org
2. go to coinad.com
3. copy address from instawallet to coinad
4. wait an hour (maybe more, just keep checking)
5. go to firstbits.com copy and paste address again
6. write your firstbits

It isn't even close. The difference for me and probably you is remembering to do whatever we needed it for an hour later. For most people it's the difference between doing it and not.
so its good for girls who want to get naked but who else? I do understand you point. Having another webwallet cant hurt and it will offer a few different features. There are lots of girls willing to take there clothes off too, if r/gonebits and other similar things become more popular Im sure a lot of girls would be using it. A long with other customers.

3. no idea. not a lot considering you can make your own vanity address. on the other hand I feel a large majority of the people using webwallets dont have the knowledge. one problem is that you can have duplicate vanity address rendering it useless as a firstbit.

How much do you expect a site like this to make? Id say most of your income would come from advertisements? Depending on how much and how popular the site was more to come from vanity address.
Well, no you can't have a duplicate vanity address.

If I put 1sgt1rh894vhnuiah428f943hj2z into the blockchain, and no one had an address starting with 1sgt in the blockchain already, then my firstbits would be 1sgt.  If someone else put a new address, 1sgt3u19rjfio3wan5sj4j3fj4 into the blockchain, their firstbits would be 1sgt3.  No duplication.

I have no idea how much the site would make, or even if it would be worth it to make.  That's why I am trying to gauge input from potential customers.

Would 0.05 BTC/month per premium address be reasonable, or 0.5 BTC/month, or 5 BTC/month?  Hard to say... I really have no idea.
Well I know im just saying it will get longer. I guess all you need is a warning or a disclaimer that there can be duplicate vanity address OR you can keep track of all the vanity address you have given out and not let any two people using your service use the same vanity gen. 1springs934859583ndnsjdsd and 1springs20580589384. The second guy would have to use 1springs2 which is getting longer still easy to remember especially being a word but may be annoying. People arent smart Im sure you will have cases where people will get a vanity address and not know they need to include characters after the vanity. where 1springs2 tells people to use 1springs because he doesnt know any better and ignores the warnings.

1BTC/month to 0.05BTC/month sounds like a good range.

BTW I do think the site is a good idea and will offer features that competitors are currently lack.
