what was the command again for freq-per-device? sry... don't find it .. anymore...

I guess it's time to buy another raspberry pi.

don't ... I probably will be able to replace controllers with raspberrys ... I'm working on it for Batch 2.
225  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [GROUP BUY][EU + CH] Gridseed 5-Chip USB Miner (200+ pieces) on: March 19, 2014, 03:10:45 PM
I'm trying to work out some stuff ... for coming batches to improve quality of accessories ...

agree everything is working fine for me apart from the lightningasic controller, raspi is the way to go.

Did I gave you a lightningasic controller? ... that would have been a mistake ... then ... the wiibox controller in chinese ... would have been the right one ^^

... rasp for sure is ... a much better choice.

sorry i meant wiibox controller, the one that updates itself to the chinese pool after you have set your own pool details....

rasbpi has been stable since the weekend running scripta.

Ah nice ... hmmm ... after my SCRIPTA dead locked the day you picked your miner up (demo effect) ... I did a clean wheezy image with only cgminer ... on the rasp and since then it's stable ... but I might move back to SCRIPTA .. then ...

i'm wondering if that usb hub usable and stable, for example, not outputting ridiculous voltages to your controller equipment (Pi or whatever)? or is it shitty as well and need to be replaced?
i guess usb hub is one of the most important components to provide good stability and smooth operation these devices.

It's a standard 10 port usb hub, I'm using 5 of them over the last month and there wasn't any issue ...

In my opinion the usb hub is more then fine ...
230  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [GROUP BUY][EU + CH] Gridseed 5-Chip USB Miner (200+ pieces) on: March 18, 2014, 03:47:11 PM
There are some minor issues with the product itself (noisy fans, shitty controller, shitty PSUs)

can you elaborate on the shitty PSUs? I'm a bit worried by fire hazards.

^^ the PSU is one of those industrial PSU ... that are sold in masses on ebay ...

Over load protection
Over charge protection
Short circuit protection
Cooling by free air convection and fan rotation

It's not shitty ... it does the trick ... but it is noisy ...

Ok ...

I can't tell you any price right now for Batch 3 ... I need to wait for Batch 2 ... also

I did change some stuff for Batch 2 ... like replacing the controller ... and I first need to see

How it works out ... what I can say is it will be a little cheaper then Batch 2.

232  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [GROUP BUY][EU + CH] Gridseed 5-Chip USB Miner (200+ pieces) on: March 18, 2014, 12:49:19 PM
One question darkfriend77,

is there any option to remove usb hub, psu and the controller and reduce the price?

Thanks

yes, for batch 3 this options will exist ...

Oh wow, that's great, completely missed that you wrote a support thread^^ That
would have saved me some time Cheesy

sry, I thought ... most of the group buyers will do some researches ... about me and at least click on one of my signature links ...  Grin

Did you try to run it with win? It's not as straightforward as I thought..

edit: Nevermind, got it going Cheesy For all others: You have to install the
proper USB->COM driver. Apparently, there are different of these USB->COM
chips installed varying on the batch of the miner. Ours is STM32.
See also: http://cryptomining-blog.com/tag/gridseed-golden-orb/

I don't know why, but for me Zadig didn't do it. So just google for
the STM32 Virtual COM Driver and the first result was the company
site which produces this chip. And their driver works now Smiley

Yep, Zadig is only for cgminer .... bfgminer works with the normal driver ... STM ...

most of the stuff is ... linked in my support thread.

236  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [GROUP BUY][EU + CH] Gridseed 5-Chip USB Miner (200+ pieces) on: March 17, 2014, 02:13:44 PM
Got that stuff, thanks Smiley Still trying to get it to run, will take some time..
The controller doesn't work for me, it's all chinese, I don't get it Cheesy
And I think this mysterious grey
gadget is something which makes the wiibox to hardreset every x min (In the
first weeks, there was an issue why the miners were not running stable so you
had to reset them from time to time. This box should automate that..)

:-) nice ... yeah the controller sux ... I'm working on a better solution for Batch 2 ... at least I think the plugs should be EU compatible now ...

UPDATE:

OVERCLOCKING:

  • HARDWARE OVERCLOCKING

HARDWARE OVERCLOCKING

DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK! I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BREAK YOUR MINER! THIS WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY!

If you are feeling brave, there's a small modification you can make to your miner to increase the voltage a bit, which will let you run at a higher voltage. First, you will need to perform a bridge solder (soldering a jumper might also be doable, though I did not yet try that). Second, you need to use my modified cgminer (https://github.com/dtbartle/cgminer-gc3355) and set voltage=1 in the gridseed-options part of your config. I've been able to run at 950 MHz without hardware errors. This will cause the miner to use an additional 1.6 W of power.

We got served with U.S. compatible Plugs which will probably not fit in your country. Sry.

Can you explain what we need in order to operate them? A US-EU adapter would work, sure..
But otherwise the PSU expects just bare wires from the plug, so sth like the following should
be fine, right?

http://www.ebay.de/itm/Netzkabel-Eurostecker-offene-Enden-Zugentlastung-1-5m-50502-/281087825154?pt=DE_Computing_Netzkabel_Verlängerungskabel&hash=item417223d502

Thanks Smiley

Okay,

first, for the power supply you will need a standard power cable for EU-plugs with an open end ... I used a standard ATX PSU cable (Pic. B) and cut just off the PSU Plug.

second, for the usb hub power supply you will have to get one of those (Pic. A) ...

third, the controller can be powered by USB, probably you will ask yourself what to do with that grey box you got ... I really don't know ... it seems to be the power supply for the controller ...
