221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My Asrock H110 Pro BTC+ caught fire on: March 26, 2018, 12:08:07 AM
Did some more research on the right way to configure a dual PSU setup. This Biostar 12 GPU dual PSU mining setup guide states:

http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/kr/event/crypto_mining/page4_2.htm

Quote
**The power cable for riser card and power cable for graphics card must come from same power supply uint.

Given Biostar makes mining motherboards, USB riser kits, GPU's and they also have a financial incentive not to warranty thiose products, I believe they have an objective view on how to setup dual power supplies correctly. So I accept powering the riser and GPU with the same PSU is the correct way.

I just rewired the risers and cards on my rigs so that the riser and VGA power connector on the cards are on the same PSU. The power consumptin from both type of setups is the same. The same Biostar mining guide also says you should only use a max of 2 risers per PSU power cable.

Quote
*Each power cable from power supply is limited to be connected to 2 graphics cards or 2 PCI-Ex16 riser cards.

On a side note I want to say that I ran my dual and triple PSU rigs with all the risers connected to PSU that powers the motherboard and the secondary PSU only powering the VGA 6/8 pin power under a heavy dual mining load 24/7 for almost a year and nothing bad came from it and my rigs are very stable.

But this is for a specific Biostar mining board. They are also suggesting to plug 2x molex connectors directly into the MB, which according to Viperguy is a big no no/ fire hazard.

The molex connectors on the motherboard are for supplemental 12V power to PCI-E slots. Specifically when using unpowered risers so that you don't burn up the traces on the motherboard or the thin wires on the 24-pin ATX connector from pulling too much 12V power when mining with multiple cards. Powered risers don't pull 12V from the PCI-E slot, they get it from the power connector on the riser, so there is no need to use the PCI-E supplemental power molex connectors o the motherboard. You can plug in the PCI-E  supplemental power molex connectors on the motherboard when using powered risers, but it really doesn't make a difference.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8tSXTqJVxQ&feature=youtu.be&t=2026

As far as the power going from the motherboard to the riser, there is only 3.3V going from the motherboard PCI-E slot to the riser through the USB cable, whether the riser uses that or produces it's own 3.3V is debatable, but I now think connecting the power on the riser to the same PSU as the power to the 6/8 pin PCI-E connectors on the card is the correct way. With dual PSU rigs, BBT now also powers the risers with the same PSU as the 6/8-Pin connectors on the cards.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8tSXTqJVxQ&feature=youtu.be&t=3799

What's also important when using two or more PSU's is they all share the same ground as motherboard. Using the ATX splitter cables joins the grounds automatically and all the PSU's turn on and off at the same time automatically.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/NOTAYO-30cm-24pin-ATX-Power-Supply-Adapter-Cable-Connector-for-Mining-24Pin-20-4pin-Dual-PSU/32827619053.html?

So in biostar manual says to connect the riser and gpu power to the same psu. Right?

"**The power cable for riser card and power cable for graphics card must come from same power supply uint."

How exactly --ratewatchdog works glph3k?

It just compares the current hash rate with the average hash rate if it is below a certain threshold it resets the kernel for the affected GPU.

It should be faster then a complete restart and if only some GPUs have an hash rate drop only those have to be reseted and it does not lose the current job state.

The exact reason for a sudden hash rate drop is still to be found, but it seems to be rooted deep in the driver. I suspect that it has to do something with power level switichings (ACPI) or similar.

Regards,
glph3k

Thanks for clarify,

Just tested the function in Vega56 and worked good.

But drivers are so buggy. Cool

Any plans for porting the cast-xmr for a more recent drivers without the losing of hasrate?

In rx580 im with new drivers and the hashrate is the same as blockchain drivers (very similar), why in vegas is not possible?

Regards

Suddenly I can't mine Graft with my Vegas using Cast 0.9.0, it says rejected share - low difficulty.  Tried two different pools.  Is something broken?

Use the option --algo=0 to force classic CryptoNight.

Graft reports that it is Version 7, the flag which Monero uses for the upcomming switch to their new CryptoNight variant.

Thanks glph3k,

Hi,

Cast XMR UI doesnt work properly mining GRAFT in 0_9_1 version, because ignore the --algo=0  Cheesy

Exist any thread for the Cast XMR UI?

I have an monitor plugged (powered off) and now have no problem. Smiley I have before an dummy plug too.

And the automatic repair solution problem was solved by:

bcdedit /set {current} bootstatuspolicy ignoreallfailures
bcdedit /set {default} bootstatuspolicy ignoreallfailures

Thanks people
227  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASrock H110 Pro BTC+ 13 GPU Board on: March 11, 2018, 12:18:24 AM

Try using the Onboard Graphics for the connection to your monitor.
Set ALL PCI-E slots to Gen 1
Try to boot with the Single GPU ONLY plugged directly into the Motherboard. If that works its a faulty riser. If it doesn't then your Motherboard may be defective.
Make sure you are supplying power to BOTH Molex plugs on the Motherboard.

Hope this helps.

Yup the onboard has been connected to the monitor from the very start.
ive tried gen 1, 2 and auto. basic troubleshooting shows all slots work except long pcie slot.

Anyone experienced this issue on their end?

I had an similiar issue and was a bad riser.

In this board the gen2 gives me more speed  Smiley

Hi Guys,

Im new to vegas,

Today i got mine (Vega 56).  Cool

Can get 2000 hs in blockchaindrivers using cast_xmr miner.

My question is if we can achieve the same performance using the new drivers and claymore gpu miner for example.

Regards
If you like recent drivers and claymore then better to mine neoscrypt

Thanks,

What coins you think have potentially?

Hi guys,

I have an rx580 4gb gigabyte aorus with hynix memory.

I made the oneclickpatch 1.6.7 two months ago.

0 Problems.

Everything ok.

But today when i unintentionally click on reset functionatlity in afterburner or Overdriventool, the card get 960hs.

So i think let me try to increase the freq of memory from 1750mhz to 1800 etc..

But changing up the memory clock doesnt increase anything..

And if i restart the amd gpu miner 11.2 with the default setting, the hash is not so high like was before restart,

It only increase if i toggle between my setting to default.

Could be a bug in miner?  (i tested in amd gpu miner and in cast xmr) Never happend to me.

So now i start with my settings, toggle to default and get more hash.. but...doesnt make anysense Smiley Huh

i just uploaded an video of my problem on yotube:

I prefer v10.0 personally.

Are you with Windows OS?

if so check that it has updated, if so that is probably why, its killed 90% of peoples mining rigs on Windows 10. just need to do a PC Reset to an earlier build. Should work.

Hi,

Windows 10,

I blocked all the automatic updates. All my rigs run fine on windows 10 and in linux. Smiley

My question is just curiosity, if someone had have this bug too Smiley

I think its corellated with overclocking only...

What are the advantages from an older version 10.0 ?

Hi,

Nice work on bat Smiley

Im testing the functionality, but i have two doubts.

If i want to add an backup pool i add this on Config_xClay:

# =================================================== [Miner]
# Set the main server mining command here to auto-create Clay_miner.bat file if it is missing or wrong. [keep default order]
commandserver1=NsGpuCNMiner.exe -xpool stratum+tcp://eu.xxxxmine.graft.network:4444 -xwal xxxx -xpsw x -allpools 1 -tstop 80 -logfile miner.log -wd 0
# When the main server fails, ClayXMRautorun.bat will switch to the additional server below immediately. [in order]
commandserver2=NsGpuCNMiner.exe -xpool stratum+tcp://pool.graftpool.online:4444 -xwal xxxx -xpsw x -allpools 1 -tstop 80 -logfile miner.log -wd 0
# Configure miner command here. Old Clay_miner.bat will be removed and a new one will be created with this value. [keep default order] internetcheck=1 required.
# The default number of servers is 5, however, you can add or remove as many as you need. e.g. you can have servers 1 2 3 or you can have 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9. There is no upper limit - e.g. you can have 1000 if you want. The minimum is 1.
# =================================================== [Overclock program]

But when for example i put purposely an error in my first server1, the program doesn t shift to commandserver2!   Cool

Its ok my syntax? or have to change the ClayXMRautorun instead of Config_xClay..

Another thing is If i tried to change :

 # Set how many GPU devices are enabled.
gpus=1

and have 8 gpus, doens t gives me any error too..

and why it comes with default valor of 0, and worked good with 0 value? Smiley Even if i have more gpus installed..

There is no compute option in wattman, also because 1 of the card is Vega FE wattman even not showed up.

I was in blockchain drivers too in my rig of 10 rx580 since january!!

I change to last one amd 18.2.3.

And i recommend a lot!! Real stable and the hashrate is the same, no errors at all.

In vega i dont test. Im waiting for my to come from amazon  to test Smiley

But give it a try and test the compute mode in new drivers.

Old blockchain (have compute mode by default).

Try to find the Vega Thread in this site forum too and as...
