221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop sending Bitcoin! on: December 23, 2017, 12:39:48 AM
People aren't just going to not use their Bitcoin, but people should try to consolidate transactions, and take it easy to some point if you can.
222  Economy / Services / Re: Need help setting up your mine? on: December 14, 2017, 12:18:02 AM
Hi there. If you need help setting up or expanding your mine, I could help you out. I can setup your miners, and controller, run network cabling, setup switches, help configure your miners, and show you how to change the settings. I can advise you on pools and wallets, basically anything you might be unclear on or have questions about. I could go anywhere in the US to where your miner is. (You pay for airfare). I would accept payment for my services via cash, bitcoin, or litecoin, I would also consider taking a miner in payment (We could discuss this option if your interested. I've spent the past 15 years as a network-computer hardware troubleshooting technician, and started mining in 2016. I have experience with Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Altcoin miners made by Bitmain, Cannan, Ebit, Innosilicon, and Baikal. Give me a call to discuss.

Interesting service, a human approach to a scene that is almost entirely digital. Something akin to the last engineer in a supermarket full of robot checkouts.

Do you have a portfolio? How come you're only just on Bitcointalk?
I dunno. I just signed up here a couple weeks ago so I could post. I've been reading posts for the last year or so. Lately I've been helping family and friends out getting into crypto, and doing their setups, so I figured why not? There's alot of stuff that can be involved that people are unsure of. I also do video monitoring/recording systems with dvrs for instance. I tried to make a link to my profiles on the contracting portals I work with, but apparently the profiles can't be viewed unless you sign up. My Facebook is https://www.facebook.com/bob.brenenstuhl It's my personal facebook so it's not like...professional, but that's me.

224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think people will turn to Monero? on: December 10, 2017, 02:44:58 PM
One thing about Monero and these other anonymous coins is, ok let's say someone sells a 1969 Corvette his grandpa had in the barn. He wants to sell for Monero so he can avoid taxes. His buddy is cool with that. That guy (if he doesn't have Monero already) has to go out on an exchange and buy it with fiat, and then when his buddy with the car gets his Monero, he has to change the 25000 back to fiat or keep it in  Monero and be limited in how he can spend it. So he's gonna still have to pay taxes on it one way or another.  Like (illicit use example) it'd be cool for buying some weed for the buyer, but if the seller was ever gonna get ahead and buy anything, he's gonna get taxed when he cashes it in and deposits to his bank account. The anonymity is cool, but I don't see where the government is really getting ripped off on the taxes, as a matter of fact, in that example they're getting taxes on a transaction that normally (with cash) there would be no taxes. So maybe the government will actually be cooler about it then people are speculating.

Taxes should be ways paid, or countries where you live cant work. Yes, countries will need to adjust its fiscal policy in the near future. The point of Monero is that is fungible. That means that every Monero is worth same as any other. Like Gold is fungible. Also that your buyer or seller cant see how much money you have. Imagine you go on vacations somewhere and buy your family a diner and waiter in that restaurant uses blockchain analysis and see you are actually a multimillionaire. Dont you think it could give him an idea to kidnap you or one of your family to try to get ransom? Transparent blockchains are way to dangerous to be used widely.
I'm actually saying that with using crypto, the government gets taxes on transactions that would normally not be taxed. It makes it a good deal for the government, so they share in the benefits of crypto with us.
225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Innosilicon A5 DashMaster 30.2G 750W on: December 10, 2017, 02:10:45 PM
Hi Guys,
Looks like I got a bad A5 as well. I can log into the web console and configure it but it won't mine. Just spinning cursors on the status page. I attempted to flash the new firmware as suggested by Innosilicon tech support in an email but I'm not sure I was able to upgrade the firmware after following the all chinese instructions through google translate. Frustrating to say the least. Does this configuration look correct? I've got the same exact configuration running on my Antminer D3 with no issues.
Here are the three pools I have configured:

stratum+tcp://x11.mine.zpool.ca:3533#xnsub
17jGiesABTU8eDA4mNghe7a6G6oUKdMpau
miner01 c=BTC d=40

stratum+tcp://stratum-eu.granatgas-pool.info:1111#xnsub
Lfmp9GGBDcDuRBLVSH5CFJ9X3YHWfZsyEf
c=LTC d=16

stratum+tcp://x11.eu.nicehash.com:3336#xnsub
37CSWuJQgDxFcgYu7TWWrawWFKCxBUEFsn.InnoA5
x

All the lights appear on the hashboards and controller. The ethernet lights are flashing but no red or green led on the back is ever on.
Can someone explain a simple step by step way upgrade to the new firmware? This is what I did:

1. Burned .img file to TF card and inserted it into slot
2. uploaded G19 update to miner through web interface. It got up to 70% and then says "waiting for reboot"
3. waited a few minutes and then power cycled the miner
4. miner reboots and I connect directly to it with laptop reconfigure the IP address directly to be able to view it again on my network.
5. nothing changed.

Here's some screenshots of status etc

Any help and input is appreciated. thanks!

Only thing I can think, are you sure you can use the #xnsub on this miner? Try removing it, and then if it starts mining, then try putting it back and see if that's whats stopping you from being able to mine.
226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: DeepOnion mining pools on: December 07, 2017, 10:14:41 PM
Im on Onionpool. Just setup yesterday. Set auto payout threshold to 2 onions. Got the first payout last night sometime. Just got home from work, and it says 3. something onions confirmed, .8 unconfirmed but it hasn't auto paid out yet. It worked last time, so that seems weird. Anybody know what might be up with that? Thank you for your help.
227  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NiceHash hacked? on: December 06, 2017, 03:43:34 PM
Yea, I'm worried. Had $600 in my wallet. I tried checking it, with a few websites, and they all say 0. There are no transactions at all tho. No sends no receives, nothing. One site had a thing on the bottom that said "No transactions. If you are seeing this message, this address may not of been used yet.", so on the other hand I'm not seeing where anything was moved either. I remember hearing something before about their addresses not being an actual address, only an internal address specific to them, so I dunno. Definetly stressful waiting for info.
228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining using phone? on: December 05, 2017, 07:12:23 AM
Yeah you'd probably never profit from it, but it could be educational. Phones use such little power it wouldn't even matter. You could just leave it plugged into a computer (maybe even at work if you're that cheap that your worried about the power draw from a phone being plugged in)
229  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining using phone? on: December 05, 2017, 06:52:28 AM
I would never try it with my actual phone, but I'd give it a spin over wifi with my old phone after getting a new one. It would be more interesting than just throwing it in the junk drawer with my other old phones, and you could just leave it plugged in forever. Might not be profitable, but it would be educational and a kinda neat little project.
230  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WARNING DeepOnion is a SCAM, proof inside! on: December 04, 2017, 05:25:56 PM
That crypto-rainbow guy is a forum nazi. He deletes everything that is not praising the holy onion. He is the developer, who obviously has not time to code as he needs to control his one thread here Smiley
Yeah, but he's protecting the value of his coin, which protects the investments of the holders of it. If I held any of it I'd hope that would be what they did, especially with all the suspicious detractors out there. I'd do the same thing on my own forum. Websites do it all the time in their review sections. Everybody is so worried about the pre-mine, and that the developers are gonna just sell it all off right after the airdrops. If I had built the value of my coin up to whatever it'll probably be by then ($5 maybe?), I would only sell off just whatever I needed to spend per week, and watch it keep going up. Why destroy the coin you worked so hard on just for a quick payout when you could just sell a few thousand (or 10,000, whatever) worth a week and still have money for whatever you wanted to buy anyways? Much more fun to be a rich guy that doesn't have to hide from the world rather then one in hiding with a ton of people angry and looking for you for the rest of your life. We're all investing in different coins, but the difference with our investments is that the results of our investments are not really in our control, only what we do when the price changes. They actually have the power to directly influence, and drive up the value of their coin. Look like that's what they are doing, and their progress seems solid. Of course there's still risk involved, but I see nothing to suggest to me that it's certainly a scam. Aggressive marketing doesn't equal a scam to me.
231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WARNING DeepOnion is a SCAM, proof inside! on: December 04, 2017, 06:21:03 AM
But why does other people losing their own money make you mad?
Exactly, enjoy the show and play with them Smiley. Easy peasy. I just wait when the first "investors" get burnt and lose real money, then they will be all over and cry...but till then, let's benefit from it.
I don't see where we really benefit from it. If I'm thinking a coin is a scam (or anything in life actually), I hope I'm wrong, and that everybody makes out big time and lives happily forever. I have no ill will towards someone, especially to someone perceived to be of more limited intelligence (if that is the case).
232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WARNING DeepOnion is a SCAM, proof inside! on: December 04, 2017, 05:18:35 AM
But why does other people losing their own money make you mad? I don't get it. People go to Las Vegas and gamble, and lose tons of money all the time. I wouldn't spend more then a couple hundred, but it's kinda fun once in awhile (haven't been in 10 years). Other people I know go and blow insane amounts of money, and I think it's kinda stupid, but I don't say anything to them. They're adults, it's their money, whatever.
233  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Innosilicon A5 DashMaster 30.2G 750W on: December 04, 2017, 03:16:50 AM
Man, what a mess they made on this one. I'm sorry this happened to you all. These companies are so disorganized, it's crazy. One thing I guess you could hope for is this spring when it gets warmer all those D3 will become unprofitable, and nobody's gonna want a heater running, so maybe when they all start getting shut down, then the Dashmaster may be the only profitable Dash miner out there, and that could drive the profitability up a bit higher (rather then it steadily going down) of course then some D3's will come back up driving profitability back down, then D3's come back offline and it'll go thru a cycle like that, but you guys can just run straight thru it. So basically, even though profits are way lower then they were supposed to be, it's possible these things could hold the same level of profitability for quite some time (until someone comes out with something faster and or more efficient when companies may have a bad taste in their mouths about Dash miners in general) I know, I'm an optimist, but it's easy to sit here and theorize when when it's not your $30000 at stake. I hope it all works out for you guys in the end. Good luck to you all!
234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Baikal Giant X10 on: December 03, 2017, 11:52:33 PM
X13 is $14.38 at the moment.

this does not make any sense.
It makes perfect sense. If you point your miner at the Nicehash X13 mining pool, you get paid $14.38 a day.

I know exactly how much x13 makes. My point was you did not list a hash rate for the profit.

was that for a mini, cube, a900, or a2000?

"X13 is $14.38 at the moment." doesn't make any sense.

Yeah, right. Mine is set for Nicehash and auto profit switching and its doing Quark at $11-$13 - not X13 which is first in list.
X13 was so last month lol.

However if he/she/they are mining directly and has great network connection. I can see inching up to $14 and change

I'm going to download a wallet tonight and get started. The intensity of he detractors has actually made me think it must be good. Why else would people be so emotionally invested in keeping other people from participating? If it was just another shitty coin nobody would bat an eye. There's hundreds of coins on Cryptopia, and most look a lot shoddier then Deep Onion. I'm not going to just go spending cash on it, but I'll point a miner there and check out their bountys and such. Good luck to you all!
236  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New information from InnoSUCK A4+ miner...! on: December 03, 2017, 08:59:28 PM
Is there a possibility to mine other currency with the A4+ ?
like gamecredits currency ?
is the firmware opensource ?
Yes, any Scrypt based coins are mineable with it.

239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BCH Over 3000$ on: December 03, 2017, 06:55:08 PM
As far as I'm concerned it has no use except to buy miners from Bitmain, and it would have no value (or way less, probably in the range of Monero or similar) if it weren't for them propping it up artificially. I don't like feeling manipulated though, and I'm sure many others feel the same, so my next miners are going to be Avalons, so hopefully their meddling comes back to bite them in the ass.
