Weed is a lot less dangerous and less habit forming.

Smiley
Both are equally dangerous.
222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Big Is The Impact of Dell To Bitcoin? on: February 25, 2015, 02:31:25 PM
It affects us by dropping the price.
223  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US Marshals for sale: 50,000 bitcoins on: February 25, 2015, 07:17:01 AM
that is a lot of BTC on the supply side that add to the market.  If the demand is weak,  expect a big drop in BTC prices maybe to $150 or so.
Don't forget the various hacks that occurred totalling 10-15k btc as well.

I recommend using Clonezilla to start a drive clone each night right before bed and allow it to finish while you are sleeping.
Aaand who will buy the extra HDD?
225  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: A Bitcoin Security Paradox? on: February 22, 2015, 05:48:27 PM
If it was me, I'd store my private key in some DNA(read up on DNA storage) and then place it on my heart, for extra security.
226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Singapore’s Tembusu Systems raises $887k, dissociates from Bitcoin on: February 22, 2015, 01:56:09 PM
So they basically piggy-backed on Bitcoin, great. Use and discard seems to be today's motto.
227  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Any website that lets me check for reused r-values? on: February 20, 2015, 10:18:02 AM
With so many hacks recently, I wonder if some of them are related to reused r-values.
Is there a website where I can enter a "hacked address" and find out if any r-values were reused for that address?
Contact user johoe, he monitors reuse of R-values.

Wow, even more hacks.. What the hell is going on? The hackers are rich, and are getting richer.
230  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Why is difficulty a float number? on: February 18, 2015, 02:04:42 AM
Somebody posted it in bitcointalk some time ago. Search for the post. If you cannot find it, send me a direct message with your e-mail and I send it to you.
I respect you a lot!

But why not just post the link here instead of asking for a PM with an email? It's a bit(just a bit) like the XY problem.
231  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin movies? on: February 17, 2015, 12:12:57 PM
And in a recent episode of Supernatural too.
232  Other / Politics & Society / Re: EU and Greece talks fail! another cyprus moment looms! on: February 17, 2015, 03:22:33 AM
Can someone tell me how all of this started exactly? Why is Greece having issues, moreover wanting to/having to ditch the Euro?
233  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Why is difficulty a float number? on: February 16, 2015, 10:45:36 AM
It isn't: in the Bitcoin p2p protocol and blockchain there is no "difficulty", difficulty is just a display convention.  What the network uses is the 'bits' number which is a compressed representation of a 256 bit integer target which the block hash is compared to. To be valid the hash must be less than the target.

The difficulty number is a relative number which makes it easier to compare than the huge target or the cryptically encoding bits field. Now that it's over 4 billion it's not as useful a unit as it was back when difficulty was 100k.

There are some ignorantly constructed mining things which try to use the for humans 'difficulty' number for actual important usage. There be dragons. (Among other things, errors related converting block hashes to 'effective difficulty' have been blamed for miners discarding valid blocks in the past).

It is my understanding difficulty is "the number of bits in the resulting hash". This is a very nice and fairly defined number in my opinion.
Thats not correct, nor would it be very useful: if it was a straight leading zero bit check difficulity could only change in huge doubling/halving increments which could not adequately control the rate of blocks.
Huh, wait, it isn't?

So one cannot do uint64_t *hash = (uint64_t *)endianswap(block); // should be sufficient for quite a while;

and then if hash <= target is not correct?
234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could Time Travel Kill Bitcoin? on: February 16, 2015, 01:23:40 AM
The threads in this forum are becoming more retarded every single day.

What if nuking the Eath's core kills Bitcoin?
What if an Asteroid kills Bitcoin?

235  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Aaand more BTC stolen... on: February 15, 2015, 09:28:12 PM
In the event that it was not an inside job, what is with people who have no clue about security making exchanges handling millions? With all these hacks since 2011, a bunch of people are now millionaires from just learning how to code and hack as a result.

239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ZenMiner Shuts Down Cloud Mining Services on: February 09, 2015, 06:09:49 AM
You know what? I see this as Bitcoin fixing the problem, which cloud-mining is. It is killing these horribly wrong businesses.
