If Brazil doesn't win, it could be an huge drama...

And now, also Mineiraço has its wiki page:

Why this happy news is in Off-topic? Smiley
223  Other / Meta / Re: Trust graph on: July 11, 2014, 06:55:08 AM
Been running for 2.5 hours on my mobile amd64...

Geez... we need some ASICs...

Edit:

Finished!

I can confirm what Theymos wrote: the result is a real mess!  Roll Eyes

It ended up being a 24MB image, very stretched (32,767x1,935 pixels) with a bunch of lines.
And that after it has been automatically scaled down to 0.18 because it was too large. The literals inside the small ovals are now unreadable.
224  Other / Meta / Re: Trust graph on: July 11, 2014, 06:44:45 AM
I'm currently rendering it for you but it may take a while on my little mobile computer Smiley  If it ever does finish, I'll post the image somewhere and put a link here.

Holy crap, it's really long!
I'm trying to render your trust.dot too but it's more than one hour on a desktop i7 and it still hasn't ended.

This is the first time I use Graphviz and I'm wondering if, about the resulting graph, the dot algorithm is the most appropriate for this kind of input.
It's sure I will not try how the other layouts look like!  Cheesy
225  Other / Meta / Re: Trust graph on: July 10, 2014, 11:39:33 PM
http://www.graphviz.org is currently down.
Have you just Slashdotted it with your post?  Grin

Let me introduce you... the Bitcointalk Effect!

Nope, he has both post count and activity at 636, at last at the moment I'm writing.
227  Other / Off-topic / Re: I want to have forum site like this on: July 08, 2014, 07:16:56 PM
Keep in mind though that this forum is heavily modified from the default configuration, and you'll want to use the latest version (currently 2.0.8 ) for security.
Good advice, I forgot to mention it.

The new forum software that is currently in development is going to be open source so you could possibly wait and use that  Cheesy.
Yes, it's a good thing they will publish it as open source. That decision surprised me in a positive way.
Not sure about how much the OP can wait though. Smiley

There are plenty of other for softwares though.
Xenforo seems to be well appreciated, too.
228  Other / Off-topic / Re: I want to have forum site like this on: July 08, 2014, 06:15:29 PM
Where to buy the script ?
I will run it in my language, not in english.

As you can read at the bottom of every page, this forum is based on SMF (Simple Machines Forum).

Give a look at http://www.simplemachines.org/ for further information.
229  Other / Meta / Re: About selling accounts on: June 25, 2014, 01:26:43 PM
AFAIK, the only reason because selling accounts isn't illegal is that you cannot really avoid that.

In a similar way, I think that a mandatory notification cannot be imposed so it would probably be useless.
230  Other / Off-topic / Re: Photo Upload (What to use???) on: June 24, 2014, 09:32:39 PM
I would say Imgur. It has worked pretty well for me until now.
You can upload your pics from your pc or other links on the web, and then you can also resize them.

I don't know about the others, though.

232  Economy / Speculation / Re: Thinking about Selling on: June 24, 2014, 09:39:57 AM
What do people think it will go down to after the auction?

I wouldn't be so sure that price will go down.

Give a look at these two other threads, there're some good thoughts about the topic:
FBI coins could sell for a premium
Do you think U.S. Marshall auction 29,656.51306529 bitcoins will affect price?
233  Other / Meta / Re: What about that good old RTFM to some of newbies' questions? on: June 24, 2014, 09:09:44 AM
I've suggested this before but maybe an automatic warning for all newbs that pops up before they post with a link asking them to read a FAQ thread where most of these common questions will be answerd before opening a new thread would be beneficial. Something along the lines of "If you're about to ask a common question please check here* first as there's a good chance it's already been answered" or whatever.

*Link to a FAQ thread.
I also think that unfortunately they would be never read but immediately skipped.
Maybe a solution could be to force the new users, when they register, to answer to 2-3 simple questions that demonstrate they've somehow read the README/FAQ.

1 reply linking to the thread with the answer and nothing else. But thats not going to happen, because its an easy "constructive" post for people with a paid signature. And while its nice to get someone answering my question in detail it encourages dependent behaviour. I am probably guilty of this myself. For some of these threads I notice answers coming in weeks after the OP has allready gotten an answer.
I suspect that probably we would see a lot of 1 post threads (just the OP) if there weren't the signature campaigns.

On the other hand it might not be wise to be harsh to newbies. After all we (or at least I think so) want more people to get involved with bitcoin and this board is the place to go for that.
Yes, it could have a light impact on the abandon rate of new users. But is that really a problem?
I mean that if someone is really interested in BTC, I think he can go over that.

The way I know the newbie section though, this will not work. Threads get necro'd there all the time. People write short useless replys on threads that allready have several answers.
Yes, that's annoying when the new answers don't add anything to what already posted if there is no need of multiple confirmations.

Thank you all, now it's more clear to me.

It seems that you were already so aware of this thing that now I'm wondering if also my question should have been posted in Beginners and Help. Cheesy

237  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Mining farm question on: June 22, 2014, 11:42:48 AM
Sorry, I forgot to mention that farm would be solar and wind powered.

Nice project then, good luck with it.

While waiting for someone with some goods hint about right countries, if you care to share some more data, like for example what are you going to use to store the energy, it would be an interesting matter.
238  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Mining farm question on: June 22, 2014, 11:25:17 AM
I'm not able to tell you which country is the best one but the first thing I would check is how much the electricity does cost there.
Without that information (among others), you can't really have an idea about the profitability of your project.

PS: This topic fits best in the Mining>Speculation section: you can also have better chances of good responses if you move your thread there.
239  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: In the last hour we are averaging 1 block every 2 minutes. on: June 22, 2014, 06:31:06 AM
ATM bitcoinwisdom is reporting an estimated next difficulty of 16,551,801,281 (+22.95%).

It's the second higher increase of 2014!
(the first one is the 26% increase on the Jan 13)

The Estimated Next Difficulty keep raising: 16,892,726,313 (+25.48%)

We are very near to the 2014 record.
240  Other / Meta / What about that good old RTFM to some of newbies' questions? on: June 22, 2014, 04:03:39 AM
After reading again the short but good NEWBIE README, I would kindly suggest all the older fellow bitcoiners to be a little bit more harsh with newbies that ask always the same questions. Just a little bit.
I think that responses like RTFM or RTFFAQ have never harmed anybody...  Wink
What do you think about that? Could it be a good idea or wouldn't it change anything?

I wonder if the frequency of posts like "How activity works", "I can't upload avatars" or "Why I cannot post every 0.10ms" will surpass the average block generation time.  Grin

PS: Mods are already harsh enough!  Tongue
