222  Economy / Gambling / Re: EveryDice.com | 0.99% Edge - Instant Cashout - Invest - Referral - Mobile - Fair on: June 25, 2014, 11:33:08 AM
The funny thing is, after all of this, and with how quiet 1DiCe1 has been on the whole matter, it does seem like he pulled something shady to win the BTC in the first place... if he won them fair and square, and was still owed 150BTC or whatever, surely he'd be on here every day, chasing down the owner, chasing down that Brian Santos guy to see if ther'es a link etc?

maybe 1dice1 doesn't really care about his 150btc OR it was all staged and brian santos or whoever ran the site, was actually 1dice1 and exploited his own site. truth is, we will never know the truth.

So true.
We only know that Everydice is over and some people have lost some bitcoin in it, but not really sure about the others (early major investor, seeds leakage, etc).
223  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Decentralized Betting without Counterparty Trust on the Blockchain on: June 25, 2014, 11:00:13 AM
It's now possible to make wagers on events and CFD's on stocks without relying on third-party escrow, directly on the Bitcoin Blockchain using the Counterparty protocol.

XCPfeeds.info is an informational resource as well as a simplified GUI interface for making these transactions.

The livenet version still has a couple days to go but you can try it out the testnet version here: https://test.xcpfeeds.info/

Also featuring a BIP32 wallet with BTC/XCP support (compatible with your other testnet BIP32 wallets).

The website link u have provided is not working !!!

Same here. I can't load your site at all.

225  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Martingale System on: June 24, 2014, 07:26:05 PM
It's gambling. You can't say "it works" or "it doesn't work". To some extent, it does work, just like betting all your life savings on a 50% roll might also work, and it might fail. What you can say for sure however, is that it's not guaranteed to make you a profit.
However, you can make the probability that you will make a profit as high as you want -- 99.9% if you like. The tradeoff is that the profit you will make will be very small relative to the amount you will lose in that 0.1% case. (This is true even if the house imposes relatively low limits. You just need to make some small tweaks to the system. However, it will mean that you may need to play for a *very* long time.)

Not only that. The chance of hitting your profit target (say, 20% or 100% profit) is indeed lower with martingale.
You can find a very long discussion on this in the thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=610339.0.
226  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Historical Bitcoin volume of sales graph? on: June 24, 2014, 07:20:34 PM
Anyone know where I can view a graph of the historical volume of sales of bitcoin?

Thanks

If you are talking about the trading volumes of individual exchanges, you can find that on bitcoin wisdom (https://bitcoinwisdom.com/).
You may add the volumes up, to have an approximation of total trading volume.

Thanks for the suggestion. I thought that would only go back a year but after some fiddling I see that's only BTC-e's chart (not that there's much to see before that).

You may also try the following three pages for data for BTC/USD, BTC/CNY, BTC/EUR.
http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/#jump-btc-usd
http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/#jump-btc-cny
http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/#jump-btc-eur
Just click "Charts" and then "All time", and you can get the daily data points easily.
But the site doesn't provide data for Huobi and OKCoin, but only BTCChina and Bter strangely.

Blackjack and poker games, are very much different from dice games and coin tossing.

After rolling a "6" with a fair dice, it won't change the chance for me to get another "6" in my next roll.
And if I know the result of the last 10 rolls, it won't help me make a better guess of the next 10 rolls.

The situation is completely different for poker games like blackjack.
If I see a "card 2" is delivered, I know there is one less "2" in the deck, and so the chance of getting a "2" is smaller now.
So, technique like counting cards will give you a better evaluation of chances of getting different cards, and hence give you an advantage.

Oops my bad, guess it is a good time for me to have a cup of coffee now. Cheesy

Bitcoin-qt, for example, will keep re-broadcasting your unconfirmed tx.

It will...?  Didn't seem so..  Transaction number never showed up on blockchain.info soo.. I gave up and did what I did.

Well, it should.
Also, if you have the same problem next time, you could use getrawtransaction <TxID> and then push the transaction on https://blockchain.info/pushtx and https://blockr.io/tx/push

Sweet, this is good info, thanks man!!

No problem, and I hope you don't need to use that though. Tongue
230  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: GPU Mining. on: June 24, 2014, 01:37:11 PM
I don't think so. Now FPGA Bitcoin Mining is much more profitable than GPU Mining.
Are you living in a cave? FPGA Bitcoin miners was so years ago, the most efficient is ASIC Bitcoin miners. GPU can hardly make a profit anymore.

The last few posts are talking about mining x11/x13 coins rather than bitcoin...
My bad...That post is indeed talking about bitcoin...
231  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How some services offer Bitcoin against credit card ? on: June 24, 2014, 01:35:49 PM
Can you give a couple examples so we can take a look at who is doing this (and then maybe speculate as to how they are mitigating risk)?

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/How_To_Buy_Bitcoins_With_Your_Credit_Card
You can find several ways to buy bitcoin with CC.
Some of the sites (such as Bittylicious) require ID verification, and some (like Virwox) have a low trade limit and high fees.
232  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Sending BTC on: June 24, 2014, 01:28:23 PM
I've already re-sent the BTC and re-downloaded the blockchain.

It was synced with conections, I have a feeling it might of been because I closed the client before any confirms.
Is sounds like you are using bitcoin-qt, don't. Multibit is a lot faster and easier. Multibit should be default client.

Just for your reference:

MultiBit’s response

Wetseals accused MultiBit’s main developer Jim Burton of responding generically to the request, and not addressing the issue.
Later, Burton commented on Reddit:
“In the life of MultiBit (i.e from 2011) there’s probably a handful of cases like these. If there is damage to the private key bytes (for whatever reason) and there is no other copy available/backed up then you’ve lost access to the bitcoins.”

That's from USA, I'm from Europe, it will cost 40 euros only the transport

In that case, you could check thisisverypointless's link, as MinerEU is based in UK and is also a reseller of gridseed.
And I don't see any complaints in the last 3 pages of their thread, so I believe they are legit.

Most of you guys don't even read all what I've wote, and post just because of the advertising signature :|, that's sad

I guess I am not one of the guys, as the product I suggested (after transport) is still within your budget, right?  Smiley
235  Other / Meta / Re: Question about forum moderation on: June 24, 2014, 01:04:44 PM
According that statement, the Altcoin section should not be present in that forum...

Indeed quite some people here have been suggesting to remove the whole altcoin section in the past, IIRC.

How do you redeam a microsoul physical coin?

Found the following in their website http://buyphysicalbitcoins.com/
Quote
About Physical Bitcoins

This is a breif description of PBT Physical Bitcoin. My physical coins are the most secure on the market. They will still be useable after fire, water damage or even secure if your friends get the code that is hard engrved hidden under a security sticker. The coins come fully loaded with 1 bitcoin. Engraved on the back of the coin is a private key so at any stage you can access your funds when you need. I have added an extra bit of security to these coins by writing the private key in a simple coded format. This means the owner of the coin is the only person who can redeem the bitcoin online and not anyone who finds it. I also have covered the coded private key with a security sticker that states the Bitcoin address and your unique Physical Bitcoin Number which will be added to the register of all coins sold.
239  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Sending BTC on: June 24, 2014, 12:48:15 PM
If a TX is not confirmed by the network after 24 hours the nodes will "forget" the TX and the BTC will remain in the address that you tried to send it from.

That's not entirely true. I've had unconfirmed transactions (specifically, those sent without fee), that have been unconfirmed for 2-3 days, but eventually were confirmed. So I'm not sure what the hard-and-fast rules are here.
This may have been an exception to the rule. My understanding of the Bitcoin protocol is that nodes should delete unconfirmed TX after 24 hours. I looked on google to double check and couldn't find anything concrete. One thing you could do to take care of this issue would be to send a TX that uses at least one of the same inputs as the unconfirmed TX with a bigger fee and this should be confirmed by the network.
Different clients have different behaviour, some rebroadcast for a long time if it remains unconfirmed. Some stop broadcasting after a period of time.

Exactly.
Bitcoin-qt, for example, will keep re-broadcasting your unconfirmed tx.

Good work, although you can just invest in Vootcoin and watch it take off Smiley

He can't. Your vootcoin wasn't here until 29 May 2014, while OP earned his bitcoin in Jul 2013 and got his account hacked in Jul.
