If we multiply that with the market caps of those two currencies we pretty much exactly get an estimated market cap of $9 million for NEM (for both values). NXT barely uses their sub. All of their activity is at nxtforum.org. NEM will be 1-2M. I would compare it to NAS maybe multiplied a few times because NEM has a stronger following now. |

I would like to bring up an idea which can address both issues of 1. Karma Network Security 2. Karma Value
This is time sensitive meaning this can be efficiently done at a particular point of Karma life.
When Karma reach a certain market price threshold say, 10 satoshis, which would mean that everyone with sizeable investment into this coin woud have multiplied their money by about ten times, since up until now it is about 1 satoshi per karma (even lower).
Those same Karma holders should be encouraged to set up a mining rig specifically for KARMA. Decide how big or how little your rig maybe, the important thing is you share in giving Karma more hash and spread that hash power among several pools. You can even solo mine it's all up to the miner.
In the advent of ASICs, this proposal will be very much feasible, a lot of mining configurations will be available at a much cheaper price.
This is also a win win situation, we make our network more secure, while we earn extra karma daily no matter how small or big that amount be. No need to tinker with the algo and there will also be more source of Karma funding if ever we decide to use those hash power for a certain good cause in the future.
The above so far is for personal level.
We can take that a notch up. We can decide that since Karma is now 10times in value. Karmashares LLC can now set up a mining rig for itself, the address can be that of Karmashares LLC karma address. Then the same advantages quoted above will be gained. This time in a bigger scale.

I think this has been the longest and most fair IPO in coin history. These guys have been working for no pay for months, let's give them the benefit of the doubt and auction a few stakes like NEM is doing.

everyone who is interested in the health and longevity of smaller coins like Karma as well as the debate about using PoW or PoS going forward should read this article. http://www.coindesk.com/what-dogecoin-must-do-survive/it is written about doge coin but it applies equally to all smaller coins that have a rapid halving of block reward. good article n thanks for sharing. some of the numbers were a little off in the beginning saying doge at 100M or 100B coins right now and bitcoin would take 100 years to get to 21M? otherwise the gist of the article was spot on. no one can predict the future and we need to keep all out options on the table |

I think they have hit their holding point for now. They might go up, but the volume has been dropping so I wouldn't count on it yet. In other words, now is the time to buy in. I still can't get over how much more volume we have been seeing. The word is getting out. People are wise in their investments, they aren't looking for the next pump, but the long term play. Karma is it. How much volume... where? Cryptsy has seen about 3 BTC in 24h. Mintpal has seen about 5. That's not much volume. I guess you weren't watching for the last few weeks when we averaged 1-2 BTC on Mintpal and .5BTC on Cryptsy for 24 hours day after day. |

You overestimate my purchasing power, lol. But I have a gut feeling there are a few people out there right now that are bullish about Karma and want to get a piece of the pie. So I was pretty confident they'll take that bait. And they did - yumm. While I am not following the markets as closely as CatKiwi, I do pay close attention to the trends and timing of bigger buys/sells. I don't know who the big market players/manipulators are, but by now it is obvious they are here and watching. None of the recent price actions are random, or small buyers/sellers. But there are apparently conflicts of interest. The people that are pumping the price are new to Karma, they probably don't have huge amount of coins yet and still accumulating. They have also been - relatively - smart and coordinated in their moves. While they did cause almost 50% price increase, they did distribute their buys over multiple exchanges and a longer period of time (at least several hours a day over multiple days). The dumper(s?) on the other hand are either people with massive mining powers dumping their mined coins coins (unlikely though, some of these dumps are far too large to be "new" coins), or someone that already owns an enormous amount of Karma and either wants to "get out", or has "other" plans for this coin (plans that don't involve a premature price increase). His/her dumps are almost always done in a very short amount of time and often on only one exchange. Which leads me to believe it is a single big whale... A Karma rich-list would rock, does one already exist? Definitely folks still loading up. Hopefully they hold for the 20 Satoshi later this year! |
