Forgive Dank, he is all drugged out again.  He messed up the title.  What he meant to say is "Dank's head is hollow"

Now that would make much more sense since he cant comprehend the simple concept of paying off his debts.

After watching ur few last posts i feel your head has gone hollow..... dank

Yep, drugs will melt a brain rather fast.

When people say the USB miners are not profitable is that under the estimation that 1BTC will always be around 500 USD?

What if 1BTC = 10,000 or 50,000 a few years from now?

If you expect bitcoin price to go 100 times higher and you want to maximize your profit, you shouldn't buy a miner but buy bitcoin directly now as it would give you more bitcoin. Smiley

Exactly, buying usb miners is stupid in any way you wanna see it, making back the roi is hard at this days.

Not everything in life is based on a roi, some people just want to be able try it out and to know that they are able to do it.  Most hobbies generally don't make a person money.  If a person can find a couple for a few bucks, whats the harm?

Most people waste more than that daily on stupid crap.

Stunna really needs to make a FAQ in the OP or at least a link to one.  Paying us to answer the same questions:

a. How do I raise my activity levels? -- CLICK HERE
b. Less than 50 posts in a month? -- post carry over to the next month, don't worry
c. Will I get paid at the high or low activity level? -- Stunna is awesome and pays for your highest level
d. Am I in the program?  This one I am less sure of, link to the spreadsheet?

over and over again are costing him a fortune.

Great idea in theory, but most wouldn't read it anyways.  How many times have people asked questions that are already in the original post? Tonnes.

Some sort of test seems a bit overkill to me and would put a lot of new signups off. Not every newb posts the same crap questions and in the wrong forum. I think the majority of people favour the newbie jail option though. It was a great quarantine for junk posts and spambots etc, now that stuff gets frittered all over the forum.

Maybe it is a bit of an overkill, but perhaps there is a way to make sure they have to read the posts and agree that they read them before they were let out of jail, so to speak.

I know most people ignore terms and conditions and/or board rules when they click yes that they have read them for pretty much everything.  Just thought maybe a question or two would make them more inclined to read them.

Congrats on the Sr. Member status btw.  Sig looks good!

I'd like to enroll.

Do I have to wait for a confirmation or something? Or I get enrolled somewhat instantly?

As long as you filled out the form correctly in the first post of this thread, no.  You should be enrolled instantly.

Here is the list of enrolled users: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=291387.msg7421598#msg7421598

It hasn't been updated in a while though. It was last updated June 30th. Might be an idea to check it from time to time.

Good to know, thanks. I filled the google form as well, it doesn't seem to be the best constructed form ever but anyway. Tongue

It's a work in progress, this is only the first month it's been implemented.  It's going to be interesting on the 17th when payment day hits.  I'm sure there is going to be mass hysteria.  I've mentioned it in the past, I'm sure it will all work itself out.  I imagine payments will take a little longer this month.  Stunna always pays though.
226  Other / Meta / Re: can't reply to posts on: July 09, 2014, 06:13:33 AM
Why almost everyday threads like this one appears? There is a fixed topic on this thread explaining timers and member ranks:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178608.0

Also the newbie readme(appealing name for a newbie to read):

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=177133.0

I think the 6 min interval between posts is a good oportunity to take a look on the fixed topics

They need to bring back newbie jail, or something similar.  If it's not this question, it's a question regarding activity.  Perhaps there is a way to implement a test when signing up, one that requires new users to read those threads to be able to pass the test.  It would eliminate a lot of useless topics around here.

If a mod is reading this, is this something that could be possible to implement?

As others have stated, almost everything you do on the forum resets the timer.  While it sucks now, the timer will lower as your activity level increases. When you get to Full Member I believe it drops to 10 seconds. Whatever it is, I don't even notice it anymore.

What if 1BTC = 10,000 or 50,000 a few years from now?

Problem with most of the miners is that they cost more in electricity than you get in return.  then there is the cost of the miner.  Better off just taking the money you'll invest on USB miners and using it to buy bitcoin.

Whats a better return?  Buying a usb stick for $20 bucks or $20 dollars worth of bitcoin?
230  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: USB Miners on: July 09, 2014, 12:47:02 AM
I've heard that USB miners aren't really useful for mining anymore but I really want to experience what mining is like, even if I'm not really getting anything more than a few satoshis. With them being pretty outdated I was wondering if anyone had one or two left over from when they actually were useful, that would be willing to send them to me. I could probably pay for shipping if need be. I understand that even the cost of the electric needed to use it, is more than I will get out f it, but it is nothing something I will be doing long. Like I said, kinda just want the experience.
Thank you all in advance.

I have 10 of them kicking around.  Personally, I still can't believe that they are still selling, and/or that people are still buying them.  I get that you want the experience, but even with all 10 hooked up, I doubt you'd see much of anything out of them.

Where are you located roughly?

Well I have nothing to lose but time honestly. I don't pay for electric, so I don't have to worry about that. Also I'm a bit of a show off, my sister thinks all of this is a huge scam. She doesn't get that putting your computer to work can generate something that equates to money. If I can get her on board the cryptocurrency train I'd feel pretty accomplished and maybe convince her to throw down some money with me to get a real miner.
I'm in NY a little outside of Poughkeepsie.

I'd send you a few if you were closer, cross country and cross border can get expensive for shipping though.  Try craigslist or kijiji if you have it in your area.  I did a Craigslist search for your area, came up with Hudson Valley.  Looks a ways down the road though, but I see antminer u1's and u2's for around $20 bucks.

This is the search I did: http://hudsonvalley.craigslist.org/search/sss?sort=priceasc&query=Bitcoin%20miner

I'm sure there are ones closer than the ones I found, you know the area better than I would.  Ebay might be an option as well.  I see some going for cheap on there, might even be able to pick up local.

Good luck.

Watch the shipping costs. I got burned awhile a go and ended up paying double what the unit cost just for the shipping.

Good advice, I got burned on shipping costs on Ebay a few years back.  That's why I mentioned the part about picking up local.  I contacted a seller near where I am for an antminer S1. I was able to pick it up only a 30 minute drive away, he even dropped the price a few bucks since he didn't have to go through the the shipping steps and he also didn't have to pay ebay fee's

I think it's interesting that you want to spend money just to experience mining. I think it's kind of good. But why buy a USB miner. If you don't want to "earn" anything and just "experience" mining, why not just GPU/CPU mine? It would do the same thing, giving you first hand experience of mining and not earning any money.

That's what I did to get started, I saw results, although very small. Went out and bought the USB miners.

Has anyone actually exceeded 400 posts? I'm at 180 at this point, so it seems like 400 is well above what I'll get to. I still think it was a great compromise by stunna, stops people who were spamming like crazy.

It seems to be working.  I see a lot less posts by certain users.  Not saying they were spam, but without the added incentive, they seem to not post nearly as much.

I'm at about 80 posts right now myself.  Don't see how I could ever hit 400. I guess if there were enough topics that I had interest in, perhaps I could hit 200. Frankly, I'd post here these days whether I got paid or not.

i'm getting close. i'm near 300 now.

i can't really complain too much about the new changes either.. i'm still over a month away from hitting 240 though.

Now I'm confused, you joined 2 months before I did, but yet you have the same activity rating as me.  How is that possible?

I avoid caffeine like the plague.  I used to drink a lot of pop and would get vicious headaches.  Cut out the caffeine and the headaches pretty much disappeared.  Not to mention, I sleep so much better without the caffeine intake.

There was a guy where I used to work that would drink a pot of coffee in a couple hours, had the shakes bad.

Perhaps he was not dedicated enough?

Possibly, LOL! He had a few other health issues that I'm sure contributed to his shakes. The pot of coffee was just over the top though, never seen someone consume so much coffee at a desk job.

Its like method, u use it when your depressed.  Personally I like method better but its illegal

Method?

i thought i typed in meth, but apparently iPhone knows better

LOL! I was kinda wondering if that was what you meant. Even the iPhone knows to stay away from meth. Never liked meth, hated the fact I could not go to sleep no matter what I did. At least with coke I could drink myself to sleep. My buddy got heavy into meth, wasn't pretty.

Anyone remember this gem from when you were a kid?

Haven't seen it around in years.

They still sell it in Banff, AB

Interesting, so they still make it.  Gonna have to take a harder look around to find them.  Looked through a couple specialty old school candy stores and came up empty.

Not sure why, but the g.f. and I have gone on a big old school candy hunt lately.  Mid life crisis perhaps, LOL!  Cheesy

Another one of my old school favorites was Nerds, still remember when they came out, can still find them in pretty much every store.

Found this at the local dollar store about a month ago, been hooked ever since.

Loved Hawaiian Punch as a kid and these taste really close from what I can remember.

i bought 2000$ litecoins at 11.8$ , 2 months ago   Embarrassed
please advise me sell it or wait ? or change it with darkcoin or what ? Huh

Be happy you didn't pay $15 like I did, I invested just over $1200 so I feel your pain.

I'm just going to hold out that it will rally and I'll turn a profit down the road. Could take months, years, who knows.

Hopefully the $2 grand is something you can risk losing.
240  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you sometimes wish internet was never invented? Wouldn't your life be better? on: July 07, 2014, 07:44:39 AM
it has sort of zombified people -- but so did TV before it. so maybe it's just a natural progression. but with smart phones now, people are becoming very socially awkward, physically inactive, just constantly obsessed with the internet. it's really quite sad.

Sort of?  It has full out zombified some.  I was down town last night and a group of people glued to their phones started crossing the street.  They didn't notice the light turn green and were still only half way across.  Cars started honking and one yelled out to f off as they had the walk signal.  Totally clueless. My buddy yell at them that the light was green, they seemed shocked.

There were a couple young people at my last job, couldn't keep a conversation going, but could text like no tomorrow. Groups in pubs not saying a word to each other, but glued to their phones.

I've given up some friends because of their phone addictions.  The fact there are now pubs that will give you a discount if you lock your phone in a box speaks volumes as to how bad the problem has become.

My father always said the internet would be the downfall of society, I think he was on to something.  The internet can be a very good tool, but most use it to build fake farms with real money. LOL!

If there was no internet, then I would not be working. Internet gives real freedom.

Tell that to the people that are addicted to it and can't function without it.
