221  Economy / Speculation / Re: MtGox bankruptcy is one thing but how it happend is just mindboggling on: February 25, 2014, 11:09:41 AM
Do you believe everything you read in the press?

I have lived in a communist regime - I know that media lie - but I don't see what wired would gain by this lie and they can lose much.

I have been on the internet for some time - I know that people don't check the facts - but I still trust wired fact checking more than T.Stuart from bitcointalk Smiley

And by they way: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=7294762 - not much - but it gets a bit more credible for me now.

WIRED MAGAZINE SAYS 'ALLEGED'...  doh!

But according to the alleged Mt. Gox document, the bitcoin world faces even bigger problems that the loss of these two men. “This could be the end of bitcoin,” the document reads, “at least for most of the public.”

Looks like their helpdesk (which probably at the end of the day consisted solely of mr karpeles himself) has also shut up shop

Nope it's still working fine. Not sure why people keep saying the support page isn't working - here it is:

https://mtgox.zendesk.com/home

and here:

https://support.mtgox.com/home
223  Economy / Speculation / Re: Mtgox.com html sourcecode (they are being acquired) on: February 25, 2014, 10:28:38 AM
And also their support system is still online:
https://support.mtgox.com/home
No help desk at support.mtgox.com

There is no help desk configured at this address. This means that the address is available and that you can claim it at http://www.zendesk.com/signup/

eh? I can see the page fine:

https://support.mtgox.com/home

227  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Find Mark Karpeles and do _xxxxxx- to him on: February 25, 2014, 08:51:52 AM
But seriously - if he steals like thousands of dollars from many many people - How is he going to hide?
I mean it won't just be me looking for him
228  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Find Mark Karpeles and do _xxxxxx- to him on: February 25, 2014, 08:48:07 AM
just kidding! Roll Eyes
229  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Find Mark Karpeles and do _xxxxxx- to him on: February 25, 2014, 08:43:51 AM
I am just saying - if he tries to do a runner with everyone's money - I will personally hunt him down. The more the better - if we pool resources, time, money we have better chance of finding him - if he tries to hide.
230  Economy / Scam Accusations / Find Mark Karpeles and do _xxxxxx- to him on: February 25, 2014, 08:40:24 AM
OK so how many people want to join forces to find Mark Karpeles and extract our money from him?
I have 10k USD to pool into a team to find him. I am serious.

Unless he fixes the website of course - then we'll just carry on as usual.
231  Economy / Speculation / Re: Maybe the MTGox FIX is coming? SiteDown, TradingDown on: February 25, 2014, 08:14:09 AM
Interesting that their site returns a 200 OK.
That would happen if there was a bug in their code.
Either they have been hacked or they made a mistake in their code.

They haven't 'switched off' their site - in that case there would be a 404 message.

OK, This is a possible scenario that makes sense to me...

1) Gox have mentioned before that they have no 'sandbox' testing environment, so they have to work on the live site.
2) They have been working on fixing some bugs - and therefore to test the updates they needed to stop all trades - internal ones too - which they stopped just today - see the image which was on reddit:

3) They made some kind of fuck up in their code - VERY easy to do if you are working in a live environment - which is giving the whitescreen 200 OK

This actually makes more sense than - they decided to shut down their site and run away.
232  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Destroy Mt.Gox Cosnpiracy on: February 25, 2014, 07:16:38 AM
as usual - nothing but personal attacks and just this 1 phoney looking document.
Any real proof of Gox's insolvency - please post it here.
233  Economy / Speculation / Re: Maybe the MTGox FIX is coming? SiteDown, TradingDown on: February 25, 2014, 07:04:28 AM
If they wanted to "disappear with the money" - why would they allow people to withdraw fiat?

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1yuozv/mtgox_just_proceeded_a_bunch_of_jpy_withdrawal/

EXACTLY. Right now they are working on the site and as their record of incompetence shows - they decided to work on their live site without leaving any kind of 'Site maintenance' page or anything. Doesn't really surprise me.
234  Economy / Speculation / The Destroy Mt.Gox Cosnpiracy on: February 25, 2014, 06:42:54 AM
There is obviously a conspiracy to destroy the reputation of Mt. Gox and make everyone think they are going bust.
So far I have seen not a single shred of evidence to prove that they are insolvent. Only thousands of dumb ass troll posts and ridiculously fake documents like this new child-like nonsense being bandied around right now:

http://www.scribd.com/doc/209050732/MtGox-Situation-Crisis-Strategy-Draft

Sorry but the chances of that being real are like 1 in a million. It is ludicrous and just goes to show that there really is a conspiracy or at least a whole bunch of people that hate Gox for whatever reason and they want everyone else to too.

I post some useful info saying that Gox are testing out their new Withdrawal Queue - as they promised on the 17th Feb and I am instantly told to 'fuck off' by some well meaning Gox-hater. Interesting.

So here it goes... get ready to hear the trolls call me names and repeat repeat repeat.... that Gox is dead. With no evidence at all - other than Mark is incompetent. Incompetent does not mean insolvent.

I am still waiting for the proof - show us some proof trolls - that Gox is insolvent or just SHUT THE FUCK UP ALREADY!!!!

235  Economy / Speculation / Re: Mt.Gox currently testing Withdrawal Queue on: February 25, 2014, 06:34:37 AM
That's some wishful thinking you've got  Wink

No it's not actually. When you attempt to do a withdrawal a message comes up that says "Withdrawal Queue not currently accepting withdrawals" or something like that. A few days it didn't do that.
That is new.

...fucking liar, its always said that.

A few days ago I tried to do a Bitcoin withdrawal and the buttons and box were not available and there was a pink box message at the top.
Now you can try to do it and it gives a message about a withdrawal queue.

You can call me as many names as you want!!! It's true. I have no agenda to lie to anyone.

'Considering the avalanche of supporting evidence, I think it's likely true.'

WHAT GODDAM EVIDENCE?Huh!!!!
237  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you really believe gox has lost 740,000 BTC and has only 2,000 left? on: February 25, 2014, 06:29:09 AM

BULLSHIT ALERT

239  Economy / Speculation / Re: MtGox business conduct and former waiting periods. on: February 25, 2014, 02:54:17 AM
Just one thought on: "and any serious financial institution would have a team of devs working over time to make this happen, and also update the customers about the progress, and give estimated timelines."

Even very well established companies could takes weeks to fix a bug especially when they need to employ new staff to get it done. It could be a lot of code to get their heads around before they can even start to work on the problem. I am talking from experience as a web application developer.
240  Economy / Speculation / Mt.Gox currently testing Withdrawal Queue on: February 25, 2014, 02:51:31 AM
As mentioned in their news update on 17th Feb:

"In order to launch the new system, we are going through the following steps:

- Re-indexing the entire Blockchain (approx. 32 million entries).

- Fully deploying the new NTX ID.

- Implementing a new bitcoin withdrawal queue that needs to be tested."

It looks like they are now testing this out.
