221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Polaris GPUs profit in order on: June 11, 2018, 08:46:22 PM
The RX 580 also has more cores than the RX 570, 36 vs 32. But I agree the difference in performance is not enough to pay a significant premium. Less than 5% on ETH and maybe up to 10% for core dependent algorithms. RX 580's also use about 15-20W more power than 570's. 8 GB cards will have better resale value for gamers and also will be able to mine Ethash much longer than 4 GB cards. I would get either card as long as it's not overpriced and has good cooling.

I like Ethermine.org as well. They are also one of the few ETH pools to offer a SSL stratum port, which reduces stale shares significantly.

With the Adrenaline drivers you need to toggle all the cards to compute mode. Then you will get your usual hash rate.

The 18.5.2 drivers on Windows 10 v 1709 run very stable for me.

GPU/CPU minable coins by algorithm:

Cryptonight coins are probably the most profitable for CPU or older GPU's:

I'm running Claymore v11.8 on Windows 10 v1709 until more miners and software are updated to be compatible with the latest Windows build. The Windows v1803 April update breaks some miners and programs like Atiflash.

On Windows 10 Pro you can set a Group Policy to defer feature updates until they have been targeted for business deployment, which is about 4 months after the public release, or you can also defer feature updates for up to 365 days.

gpedit ==> Administrative Templates ==> Windows Components ==> Windows Updates ==> Windows Update for Business ==> Select when Preview Builds and Feature Updates are Received ==> Set to 'enabled' and  in the drop down select 'Semi-Annual Channel'.

The AMD blockchain driver was a patch released to fix the Ethash Dag file growth issue that caused Polaris cards to lose hash rate with every new epoch once the Dag file reached over 2GB. Starting with the Crimson Relive compute drivers that were released for Windows 10 v1703, AMD incorporated the fix from the blockchain driver in to the mainstream release drivers when the cards are set to compute mode.

The correct driver to use for Windows 10 v1703 Fall Creator update and newer versions is the latest AMD Adrenaline driver and set the cards to compute mode.

227  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining increase the coin value or cause it to drop? on: June 03, 2018, 06:36:06 PM
Most miners will sell some of the coins they mine to cover their ongoing costs, so that generates some selling pressure on the coins. On the other hand if mining a coin requires specialized hardware or the difficulty is too high vs the potential reward, most people would rather buy the coin outright rather than accumulate by mining it, so that generates buy pressure.
228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASRock H110 not showing any signal on: June 02, 2018, 07:48:07 PM
Yes. Some motherboards will automatically down clock the memory to match the supported speed or in the Bios, but it's always best to buy components that are supported to avoid compatibility issues.
229  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASRock H110 not showing any signal on: June 02, 2018, 07:21:55 PM
You bought the wrong RAM. The fastest memory the ASRock H110 Pro BTC+ supports is 2400 MHz RAM with a Core i7 CPU only. Your Pentium G4400 only supports 2133 MHz RAM max.

Return it and buy this one or another module that's listed on the memory QVL.

If the motherboard is only two months old it should be under warranty. Contact ASRock support.
231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AsRock H110 Mining 13 Rx 580? on: May 31, 2018, 02:34:41 AM
That is outdated information that was was based on a driver limitation of a max of 8 cards of the same brand, AMD or Nvidia. Since the Windows v1703 Fall Creators Update the drivers have been updated and you can now run up to 13 of the same brand cards with the current AMD Adrenaline drivers in compute mode.
232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASUS H370 Mining Master - 20GPU MINING FRANKENSTEIN on: May 30, 2018, 03:30:39 PM
Interesting but it seems no better than the B250 Mining Expert in that it still requires mining cards over 12-13 GPU's. Perhaps more chipset and CPU PCI-E lanes are needed to go over that?

234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Home Switch/Router - What to use best for this? on: May 29, 2018, 03:02:45 AM
Netgear ProSAFE web managed switches are reasonably priced and come in variety of port configurations, are plug-and-play but also support additional configuration and monitoring features with an easy web-based configuration. All ProSAFE switches have a lifetime warranty with next business day replacement. Highly recommend.

PCI-E x1 splitters generally work for AMD cards to add an additional card. I've used these with the Biostar TB85 to run 7 cards and had the best result connecting the splitter to the last PCI-E slot on the board.

There also newer ones that connect via USB cable directly.

Reduce heat around the rigs. i.e. exhaust the hot air and maintain good airflow.
237  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ATTENTION AtiFlashWin doesn't work with windows build 1803 on: May 10, 2018, 03:28:06 PM
This always happens with new Windows builds. In the Windows 10 Pro Group Policy Editor you can set Windows to only upgrade to feature updates when there enter a final release build thats been thoroughly tested.

Quote
Enable this policy to specify the level of Preview Build or Feature Updates to receive, and when.

* Preview Build - Fast: Devices set to this level will be the first to receive new builds of Windows with features not yet available to the general public. Select Fast to participate in identifying and reporting issues to Microsoft, and provide suggestions on new functionality.
* Preview Build - Slow: Devices set to this level receive new builds of Windows before they are available to the general public, but at a slower cadence than those set to Fast, and with changes and fixes identified in earlier builds.
* Release Preview: Receive builds of Windows just before Microsoft releases them to the general public.
* Semi-Annual Channel (Targeted): Receive feature updates when they are released to the general public.
* Semi-Annual Channel: Feature updates will arrive when they are declared Semi-Annual Channel. This usually occurs about 4 months after Semi-Annual Channel (Targeted), indicating that Microsoft, Independent Software Vendors (ISVs), partners and customer believe that the release is ready for broad deployment.

gpedit ==> Administrative Templates ==> Windows Components ==> Windows Updates ==> Windows Update for Business ==> Select when Preview Builds and Feature Updates are Received ==> Set to 'enabled' and  in the drop down select 'Semi-Annual Channel'.

You will get MUCH fewer stale shares on Ethermine if you use the ssl stratum on the server closest to you e.g.

240  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FTW2 GAMING? on: May 09, 2018, 04:28:34 PM
With the Ethpill 1080's do ~15-20% better than a 1070 on Ethash. What I don't like about 1080's is they run hot, so it's a good idea to get a 1080 with good cooling.
