221  Economy / Economics / Re: what state assets have Greece agreed to hand over? on: August 05, 2015, 01:52:16 PM
And who is the new owner?

Is it the Greek parliament that now belongs to Europe?

No, Greece sold mostly their rights of their infrastructure. Like airports, public transportation and ports. They will be managed and administrated by the debtors, so most or almost all profits will go to the debtors so Greece can pay their debt back.

Apparently Greek air traffic controllers have gone on strike. http://uk.reuters.com/article/2015/08/05/eurozone-greece-flights-idUKL5N10G1V720150805

The price will go up within a few months, it is gonna skyrocket.

Most of us hope that statement will be proven correct. Unfortunately there's nothing concrete to tell us which way we'll go in the short to medium term. The price seems to be in a pretty concrete, boring range right now. I happen to think we'll go between 270-300 for another couple of weeks at least.

Between 275~ and 300 is pretty much a nothing zone, plenty of support below and plenty of resistance above.

Unless of course the price moves below 275 or above 300.

That's a little piece of wisdom for you. No need to thank me.

Is this even news to people yet unfamiliar with bitcoin? Will this news even enter their world? I think not.

Anyone that has the ability to do math understands there is a 0% chance greece re pays it's loans.

They might be able to drag it out though.
227  Economy / Speculation / Re: Athens stock market set to open Monday. on: August 04, 2015, 05:04:49 PM
The national bank of greece is going to depressing all time lows. It will either recover delivering good returns, or greece is going bankrupt pretty soon.

Anyone feeling lucky enough to bet some money on this?

Have you got a graph up to Aug 2015?
228  Economy / Economics / Re: It's happening: Puerto Rico just defaulted for the first time on: August 04, 2015, 04:37:07 PM
Just wait and watch, there will be more members coming to defaulters list.

which will be translated in more opportunity to embrace and increase bitcoin price, hopefully at least oen of those will turn the light off on fiat if not we can get at least a good hype that might make bitcoin stronger

There is not a single country that is ready for BTC and BTC is not ready for any country, the volume would most likely collapse the network. We need to fix the blocksize etc issues before we can think about that.

The blocksize debate is not currently an issue. It will only become an issue when adoption surges and the devs will probably approach it in a reactionary manner. The good news is that the moment is being anticipated and hopefully a solution will be applied that can be compared to mild turbulence.

True, but you can never predict when the Bitcoin network will have tons of people flocking in desperately if their economies go bankrupt. You cant never know when it can go viral and lots of new users can appear out of nowhere, so we might as well get ready as soon as possible to support that.

That is not something that I, running an SPV, will have any say in. In geeks I trust.

They have to come up with 50 billion euro. Its unlikely that they'll get that even with the sale of all their islands.

By what deadline?
231  Economy / Speculation / Re: The inevitable is upon us... on: August 04, 2015, 03:23:40 PM
There really should be some type of fucking first grade arithmetic test before anyone's allowed to post here.

Got a big fat news flash for everyone - a $10,000 bitcoin is still fuck all in terms of the wider world.

The dollar does not need to collapse. A loaf of bread does not need to be worth $1000. Nothing needs to change other than the desire by a greater number of people to use and hold BTC.

Why are so many on here too dim to harness basic conceptualisation?

Because of our sub standard education dickwad. Now explain it again. Only this time S.L.O.W.ERRRR.

Haha.

My apologies for the "dickwad" comment. I'm just joshing with you.

233  Economy / Economics / Re: Greece is going DOWN on: August 03, 2015, 11:42:21 PM

To some point inflating money is good as it allows people to take on loans with low interest from banks and boost the economy. If the system only had a fixed amount of money banks would rent at much higher rates where no businesses could afford a loan, slowing economy, slowing buying power, even slower economy etc.

The current situations is not perfect, but that is what we have at the moment.

I am warming to this more. My thinking is if a currency is fixed and will not inflate where does that leave the unborn? Sure they can borrow from or provide services to current holders, but isn't that similar to todays fiat system? The only difference would be that people would lend what they hold and not create something new to lend. Quite a trivial difference in 200 years time really. Lenders could still request interest which would result in inevitable defaults somewhere down the line.

Contemplating the best fora this species is a right headache. So I am tempted to conclude the same as you.

The current situations is not perfect, but that is what we have at the moment.

Check the news. Puerto Rico already down, much bigger than Greece. Greece will meet the same fate, it's not about if but about when, and will be sooner than we think.

Its gonna happen before tomorrow?!?!?
234  Economy / Economics / Re: what state assets have Greece agreed to hand over? on: August 03, 2015, 11:14:12 PM
I know that Greece has to sell all their islands in the Mediterranean sea. There are from 1800 to 6000 islands to sell, 10 percent of which are privately owned. I don't know about any other properties that Greece would have to sell in order to pay the debt. But I know that if you have money now is the time to buy yourself an island.  Cool

Yeah, reportedly Warren Buffett and Johnny Deep already did.
235  Economy / Economics / Re: Greece is going DOWN on: August 03, 2015, 05:10:31 PM

it would be funny if they waste the last 80B loan, that they borrowed from the central bank...i think it's a likely scenario bound to happen eventually

I can picture the headlines now, "Greece squanders loan on drugs and prostitutes".
236  Economy / Economics / Re: Greece Cannot Pay, Greece Will Not Pay on: August 03, 2015, 12:14:39 PM
It's funny ... as were some wealthy gentlemen thieves money from all over Europe and people are still trying to analyze the situation as mathematically.
These gentlemen were expelled from Latin America or South America and have come with money to do the same thing there. It is so difficult to assume that a few rich are allied with corrupt politicians to rob citizens? And if not, can someone tell me why in Spain the rich, now with crises they are 40% more wealthy than before? Where is the famous flight of capital?

Spain has already had its fair share of economic problems, its rather recovering now. An economic growth of 0.9 has been reported for the first quarter of 2015, I remember. Also, unemployment is falling in spain. Nearly half a million cars were also sold this year which is the record high sales there, the last time that happened was in 2010. Even mortgage activity continues to increase in spain, because they escaped their economic problems now.

Very good. An excellent example of what happen if the people is responsible and understand that only the WORK can save everything. Can get out from the crisis and maybe later even can give prosperity. Maybe needed time that they passes all their problems but the signs are good. They didn't do some referendum to not give the debt to their owners but put down their head, sweated their forehead and created value. That mean money. And are enjoyed the fruits.

So in summary work makes you free. Arbeit macht frei.
237  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: OpenBazaar - decentralized eBay on: August 03, 2015, 11:59:45 AM
Could anybody comment on how anonymous OpenBazaar transactions are. Are there any ways to anonymize interactions on OpenBazaar? Thank you

It wont be ready for tor at this stage. It is not on the devs priority list but is a consideration for the future.

I see my bitcoin net worth go up/down ~$3K for every $10 btc price swing.  Doesn't faze me a bit, but the silly n00bs who are afraid to HODL a single btc and are just looking to make a few bucks to buy the latest cheap trinket (that they'll forget about in 6 months) would be freaking out.  They are the true weak hands.

And I'm still buying when I can, without any fear.

To create real wealth, you must have a long term vision and balls of steel.

Oh please, spare us the bs. Your a bigger bag holder than Inca!!!  What did you buy at? 500? 600?   Grin Grin Grin

That's only around 100 btc -  it's not so much.

I don't think a 10 dollar swing would put you +\- 3k with 100 btc.

Up, down, sideways.

At first I when this thread started I was interested........

Then the unfunny spam threads started.

Now as previous poster said you've covered all angles.  Well done.

Not true. He knows where he is at in the appropriate thread. Still mildly amusing.
