221  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: [BitcoinMax.com] Paying 6.9% per week... Small accounts welcome. on: March 03, 2013, 09:12:52 AM
Ian is almost certainly on an incredibly dodgy legal footing, having made huge profit by perpetuating fraud.

So yeah, I'd sue him if I'd been dumb enough to put money into this scheme.
When you had an account with BitcoinMax your contract partner was Ian Grice (paybtc/E&G). So maybe it would be the best to build a legal case against Ian. That way he would at least most probably start to respond.
At one point in time Trendon wanted to have the accounts transfered to him. If Ian had complied, you could go direct for Tendon. Unfortunately, or deliberately?, Ian decided to protect Trendon and keep the accounts. Now Trendon has an additional shield, because only Ian had a contract with him, and Ian is apparently no longer interested. I assume he had profited enough.
Or maybe he has not sent coins (all or just a part of them) to Pirate at all. If you knew right from the start that Pirate never planned to pay back, you could add your own scam on top of it. With the result that the blame goes to Pirate. He just needed to pay the bit of interest which investors requested, something that worked out fine as long as new investors joined; and that worked until Pirate defaulted. With his explanation of "coin ownership change" (see below) he broke the traceability of coins. So even if you could prove that an address holding BMax coins is under his control he could simply say that's because he invested the amount from his other wallet. With this in mind it would be foolish for him to officially acknowledge BMax balances because during a lawsuit it would show that his BST account had less coins than the sum investors sent to him.

an example of that would be let's say to start with i have 200 btc which i keep here:

BST wallet   100   i own 100% of these coins
My wallet   100   i own 100% of these coins

then, a bitcoinmax lender decides to invest 40 btc (sending it to MY wallet), the ownership changes immediately to:

BST wallet   100   i own 60 of these coins, and the bitcoinmax lender owns the other 40
My wallet   140   i own 100% of these coins

then if BST stops paying, i've lost 60 btc, and the bitcoinmax lender has lost 40 btc, even though the actual 40 bitcoins that he sent are still unspent in my own personal wallet.

Any news about the minimum/pay-now option?

Also, you might want to fix your stats. It displays small amounts in scientific notation.

225  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Find Trendon Shavers in person thread... [BTCST, BTS&T, pirateat40] on: February 15, 2013, 01:24:39 PM
There's no way to know.  People may be able to prove that they gave funds to the PPT operators but proving that those funds were handed on to pirate and that he didn't return them to the PPT operators is a different ball-game.
PPT operators could help if they wanted. I admit they don't have much of a reason to, since they didn't really make losses from passing the funds along and were quick to drop all this. All I'm left with is a PM with the deposit address given to me, and a bunch of screenshots I made of my Bitcoinmax account before payb.tc/E&G lost interest in all this. He did not even bother to confirm a PM in which I listed my account statistics.
If a PPT did not forward the funds a whole new can of worms will be opened.

I'm just saying that at some point, you had enough faith in the whole system to participate.
If you were sure that everything would fail, spending even 1% only means throwing away money.
One makes a bet because one believes in the chance.
227  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Find Trendon Shavers in person thread... [BTCST, BTS&T, pirateat40] on: February 12, 2013, 11:43:53 PM
paying less than 1% face was a good bet.  I would do it again.

Hardly the same thing as believing in 3600%.  And unicorns.

Re: 214BTC Bitcoinmax account for sale
I bid 75 BTC
35%

Re: 150+10 bitcoinmax account for sell,,,,,,130BTC,user#28
I bid 50 BTC
31%

Re: BitcoinMax Account For Sale (1915 BTC) @ 60%
I will give you 100 BTC.

Given the developing situation, I don't think that is lowball.
5.2%

Let's stick to the facts please.
228  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Find Trendon Shavers in person thread... [BTCST, BTS&T, pirateat40] on: February 12, 2013, 08:52:11 PM
Amazing that no one with skin in the game cares enough to try to hold him to account.  My guess is they feel too foolish, knowing how ludicrously naive it was to believe in 7% a week.
We all do, right? I remember seeing your bids for Bitcoinmax account after Pirate defaulted. Some believed in 7%, others believed that he'd pay back after admitting default.
But yeah, recovering coins would mean a nice share as a payment.
229  Economy / Services / Re: Cheap Investigative Service on: February 12, 2013, 01:44:21 PM
But the fact is, this person didn't pay me extra, but out of principle, I won't repeat an investigation on someone for two different clients.
Corrent me, but doesn't this offer a simple method for a scammer to protect himself? The scammer creates a sockpuppet account and uses it to hire and pay you. He gets information about himself, which at a first glance is pretty useless for him, but from that point on you refuse to give this information to others, something that can be quite valueable.

Maybe someone will offer me a lot of money to find someone they want to hurt or have no business finding and I'll turn them down.
Maybe you should start a partnership with russian debt collectors, lol. I'm sure many won't ask for the details as long as they get their money back.
230  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: I'll Quickly Cash You Out w/ Paypal on: February 09, 2013, 11:49:03 PM
1.) You will have to either send first or we can ask for escrow service (preferably from johnthedong).
You can chargeback up to 180 days after the transaction takes place.
I don't see a problem. Johnthedong just needs to hold the coins in escrow for 180 days before sending them to cptmooseinc.
231  Economy / Services / Re: Cheap Investigative Service on: February 02, 2013, 09:35:26 AM
30% is good enough for me, and I'm sure many will agree. Let me know if you manage to do so.  Smiley
Getting 70% back is obviously better than getting 0% back.

Or maybe a few touch guys personally "urge" him to pay lol.
It's the result that counts Tongue
232  Economy / Services / Re: Cheap Investigative Service on: February 01, 2013, 08:35:57 AM
Oh, Trendon Shavers. Some user was offering a bunch of money for his info quite a while ago. I found everything on the guy but the user recanted on paying me. I got his ssn, address, assets, credit, everything!
He has been tracked by eg BCB and a few others, but I'm not sure how much information they have collected.
I'm willing to offer a percentage of the retrieved coins and I think others would too, what should quickly add up to tens of thousands of dollars for whoever can make him pay.
233  Economy / Services / Re: Cheap Investigative Service on: January 31, 2013, 02:57:06 PM
You could earn a lot if you manage to make Pirate pay.
234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: need help recovering a wallet.dat off a corrupt vmdk file on: January 31, 2013, 12:38:22 PM
Even if your raid looks fine, I would let the raid controller do a complete verify and check the SMART status of each disk. Maybe the controller had already resynced after an error appeared.
Are you by any chance over-allocating resources? Maybe your vm-storage ran out of disk space and when your vm requested swap it blew up.
Or, if you are using network storage (NFS, iSCSI, FC) the connection went away; which is essentially just like a disappearing drive. The OS will panic and the disks will be in an inconsistent state.
If you find a vswp file, try renaming it, booting and re-renaming it again.
You did not backup your vm's to another storage, right?

Also, I don't think you need to mount a drive to run that python tool which tries to recover keys. If you succeed mounting the partitions however, you can simply copy your wallet. The python tool only dumps the keys it can find if I remember correctly (it's somewhat like a brute-force search).
235  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: need help recovering a wallet.dat off a corrupt vmdk file on: January 31, 2013, 08:46:58 AM
Any idea how the vmdk got corrupted?

Since a vmdk is just a disk, you can use fdisk/sfdisk/parted to dump the partition table and use that information to calculate the offsets you need to loop-mount them.

In my opinion, "withdrawal requests" sounds better than "withdraw requests".

The left picture has no thumbnail; it's only resized via height/width in html, meaning the preview is a 355kB download.

"No externaly resources are loaded when logged in"
I haven't created an account, so I cannot check, but are the Godaddy seal and Twitter/FB/G+/Google-Analytics removed after login?

Actually, I assumed the ticker would refresh via ajax now and then.

Sticking CSS/JS into separate files (and selective caching) would reduce the pagesize what increases loading speed and reduces traffic.

It would also be nice if the info boxes close when clicking anywhere on the page and not only on "OK"

Clicking on "Login" without any values filled in drops the user to an error page which looks like a leftover from the devs (also, that html isn't valid at all)

The site doesn't validate as html5. Cosmectic maybe, but personally I'm picky about such things.
238  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Can I Specify Which Input Addresses? (Coin Control) on: January 09, 2013, 11:24:26 PM
I thought that I saw somewhere that someone had already created a custom version of Bitcoin-Qt that had coin-control in it?  For whatever reason the modifications never made it into the version generally recognized as being the "official"version.  I don't remember when/where I saw it so I could be mistaken.
Someone has for a 0.6.x version, but nobody seems to want to support it:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=129288.msg1420252#msg1420252

I've also contacted the dev some time ago, but sadly there's no reply so far:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=24784.0

I baffles me that such a great feature is ignored and instead it's suggested to create raw transactions in the debug console to those who value privacy.

Feel free to make your offers; I'll wait until Friday.
240  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: CheapSweep: a script for low-cost address sweeping on: January 09, 2013, 07:42:19 PM
If coincontrol would make it into the main client, users could even select which addresses should be defragmented. It shouldn't be too complex to display the fragmentation for each address.
And if the single recipient address is also in the source address list then it should be obvious that it's a coin-combination (which could be fee-free so users agree to it).
