221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DIEM] CarpeDiemCoin - Mandatory Wallet Update v1.1.2.2 7/24 on: July 24, 2014, 04:48:42 PM
I’m happy to announce that the Carpe Diem Investment Fund has acquired a large stake in RomanCoin (ROM) and will be taking over the coin.  This will be our first coin rehab and will set the tone for how we work.

Keep in mind that this is our first rehab outside of our work on DIEM.  Progress will likely be slow as we don’t have the resources we would like to have going into this and we ask for the communities support and if you have something to offer please come forward and let’s talk.

We have a few ideas for ROM including:

Rename/Rebranding of the coin
100/1 or 1000/1 reverse split on current coins
Start a stability fund to ensure sustained growth

None of these are set in stone by any means.  Just ideas our team has thought up.  WE WANT YOUR INPUT!  As the ROM community you should have a say, and we would like to have a town hall meeting on IRC to discuss the future of our coin.

We think we should do a poll for the new name.  We want to stick with the Roman theme maybe do something in Latin that has meaning that is true to ROM’s ideals.  If any of you have any suggestions please bring them up and we’ll add them to the list and have a vote in a week or so.

Due to the multiple attempts to “fix” ROM by tinaken that haven’t panned out quite right we think the best thing to do is start a new coin from scratch and to a trade-in on Bittrex which is when the reverse split would happen, so if we decide on 100/1 every 100 coins would become 1.  From experience with DIEM trade-ins like this typically end up leaving a number of coins unclaimed which we will need to decide what to do with.  We can destroy them, put them to use on bounties and promotions or some combination of the two.  Whatever is decided will be decided by the community in a vote.

DIEM’s goal is to create a family of coins that support each other when help is needed.  A family of strong coins benefits us all as well as crypto as a whole.  I’ve found too many devs consider other coins to be competitors, we disagree with this thinking.  We are in this together and the more scams a pump and dumps that happen the more people get frustrated with crypto and leave.  This hurts everyone!

Please read up on DIEM.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=588310
Our long term goals are in the OP.  If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask here or come pop into the DIEM IRC channel.  #diemcoin  or  https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.freenode.net/#diemcoin

There is a bootstrap.dat in there too if you want to speed up syncing throw that in your appdata/roaming/carpediemcoin folder.
228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DIEM] CarpeDiemCoin - FIRST REHAB TBA SOON! on: July 24, 2014, 06:11:44 AM
OK. Links have been updated in the OP with win wallet and source.  Mac wallet will come soon.  Make sure you delete everything in your appdata folder except your wallet.dat.  You need to download the full blockchain.  No conf is needed and make sure you delete your peers.dat

You will probably get stuck while syncing 3 or 4 times.  Just restart when you get stuck and it will keep going.
229  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DIEM] CarpeDiemCoin - FIRST REHAB TBA SOON! on: July 24, 2014, 12:02:06 AM
If any of you wanna load up the new wallet here's the windows one:
http://1drv.ms/1psZZQ2

You'll get a security warning just ignore it.  I'll update the OP when I hear from deadpoets with links.

Delete everything in your appdata folder except the wallet.dat

It'll get stuck 3 or 4 times syncing just restart the wallet.

Works fine for me  Grin  Glad to see dev managed with the problem.
thanks

Make sure your at the right block right now were at 29225 so you should be above that.

If you don't delete the old chain and peers.dat and conf you might get on the old chain.  This new wallet doesn't look for the old clients as peers.

Also there should be no need for a conf any more at all.

This is pretty cool:

Starting on July 23rd, Poloniex will open the following eight Monero market pairs: BCN/XMR, DIEM/XMR, DRK/XMR, IFC/XMR, LTC/XMR, MAID/XMR, NXT/XMR, and QORA/XMR.

232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DIEM] CarpeDiemCoin - FIRST REHAB TBA SOON! on: July 23, 2014, 02:48:23 AM
As soon as polo is updated I will release the new wallet.
233  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DIEM] CarpeDiemCoin - FIRST REHAB TBA SOON! on: July 22, 2014, 03:25:51 AM
We did a small scale test and so far so good.  Gonna let it run for another 24 hours to make sure all is well.  If everything goes smoothly I'll get the update out tomorrow night.

Thanks again for everyone patience.  We have the best little community in crypto.  Most coins by now would have taken a huge dive but we're holding in there.  It's obvious you guys have faith in us and we won't let you down.

Good news!  Were testing the new wallet.  fingers crossed everything goes well.
235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DIEM] CarpeDiemCoin - FIRST REHAB TBA SOON! on: July 18, 2014, 03:31:32 AM
Nothing solid timeline wise were trying to track down the longest chain so we can lock onto it and build the new wallet on it.   Something like that.  I'm not the technical one.   Sad
236  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DIEM] CarpeDiemCoin on: July 16, 2014, 05:33:28 PM
how does one check coins on hold
There's isn't a way to check right now unfortunately.  The pool op is a good guy.  He'll take care of us.

In fact the last payout he made came from his own wallet to keep the miners happy. Since withdrawing from polo is a bit sketchy.
237  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DIEM] CarpeDiemCoin on: July 15, 2014, 04:58:25 PM
Yes, we are working on it.  Looks like we will have a mandatory wallet update coming.
Thank you all for your patience.

Again to be on the safe side please try to avoid sending DIEM anywhere.
238  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DIEM] CarpeDiemCoin on: July 14, 2014, 07:22:16 PM
Oh ya... I was supposed to post about this last night.  Roll Eyes

We have a website!
www.thehouseofdiem.com

It's a bit of a work in progress but check it out tell us what you think.
239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DIEM] CarpeDiemCoin - MULTIPOOL GIVEAWAY!!! on: July 14, 2014, 01:54:59 AM
Ya I think everyone is having syncing issues today.   Cry

Our dev found a flaw in the code so were going to be releasing yet another wallet in the near future.  Till then, sit tight and be very cautious about sending coins, maybe send a small test amount before sending a large amount.  Or you can just avoid sending coins completely if you can.  Everything should be fine with transactions after the update but better safe then sorry.

We'll get through this guys.  Just bare with us and we really appreciate everyone patience with everything we have gone through.
