221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Conditions of bounty campaigns these days on: March 07, 2022, 08:11:27 PM
I believe that it is more like the same situation. We have had bounties back in the years that didn't pay after the campaign was completed and now we still have some Bounty campaigns that still don't pay after work is done.  Asking for KYC is now the biggest scam in the bounty campaign space that was not specified before the campaign because they know most will not participate in that campaign not because the hunters want to scam you but because they don't want to give their info which the projects is now forcing them to do to get their pay.
I guess the matter is subjective because some people pick and choose the campaign we participate in.
One of the main reasons why they are asking KYC these days is the fact that there are more than one account per person and they are worried that the same person will get multiple entry just because of it. If you do not want to do KYC for a project then you should not enter at the start, and even if they didn't say it, assume that they will ask for it.

The main reason stands, it is a good reason, if I open 10 twitter accounts and 10 bitcointalk accounts and whatever else is needed, should I be joining with 10 accounts? I should not, and KYC is there to prevent that. Not a good thing for most participants who do not want to share it, but a good defensive mechanism for the campaign.

Do you know how easy it is to buy identity card this days? Many are willing to drop their passport or driver's license for just 10$, not every country is in good shape mate and people in hard countries don't care, all they want is money.

.... the moment you ask them to show proof that they really have gold and diamonds they give useless points,
You are a lucky one if they actually gave you an answer hehe. They usually ban or kick out anyone asking tough questions in their channel then accuse them of spreading "FUD". That alone is already a huge red flag.
I'm not surprised, I think asking deep questions from team members sometimes will reveal their true intent, I could remember when I asked a team about why an address hold 50 of the max supply and I got blocked instantly.
223  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: No social media is safe on: March 06, 2022, 05:34:48 AM
Strangers don't have any good intent for you when they PM you first, internet is now full of scammers who pretend to have something good to offer but that's all lies, become the boss of yourself do not listen to strangers or receive any private messages from them.
224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My second bigger mining farm project is coming on: March 05, 2022, 06:18:56 PM
No one is talking about how RTX3090 give room to more space than other GPUs, RTX3090 gives 120MH but using 3070 will take more space more risers and also build more heats, I think going for 3090 is a good choice.

Yes especially if he gets proper cases.

A 3090 will do 108-115 mh in a good case at 285 watts.

If you look  around you can find 3090's under 2100 usd

so 8 in a minerdude case is about  8 x 2100 = 16800 + 1000(case) = $17800 for 850-900mh doing about 8x285=2280+170 = 2450 watts an hour or 60kwatts a day

so 60 kwatts a day at 5 cents = 3 dollars power

and 850 mh earns about 34 a day

so 31 net a day =  11,315 a year

or 31 x 580 = 17980 after 580 days.  not great but the 3090 have 3 year warranty and 580 days = only 19 months
Hi Philipma 1957

IF a RTX3090 does 115MH at 285watt what about going 120MH will this draw more electricity? Also is 120MH the highest a rtx3090 can do? Which brand of RTX3090 is the best in your farm?
225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Don't lock your tokens away on: March 04, 2022, 06:14:02 PM
I know we have determined newbies among us this days that have developed a strong holding (HODL) habit in themselves, I have an advice for you as a crypto holder and I hope you listen.

Do not hold your tokens for too long without looking back, I have lost some this way because later they move to main chain running on separate blockchain, imagine if you decide to check the progress of that project only in 2024 and you see that you've missed out on swapping your old tokens to the new coin..
So what happened to the good old  "Buy good projects and forget about them" thing?

In all seriousness tho great point from OP im kinda guilty of this practise to as i tend to ignore the coins i hodl as a way of avoiding stressing out about the price fluctuations .but losing all your coins is worst i guess
Not all good projects will survive for longer time this is why we need to watch them closely and monitor their progress, many good projects of today will stop following their roadmap once the hype is no more or there is bear season and they will slowly get abandoned, you can only hold BTC LTC ETH and other in same strong category for long without monitoring.
226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stay away from crypto influencers on: March 04, 2022, 01:21:00 PM
There are good crypto influencers are get paid like OP said but dont lead people astray, they try protecting their own reputation online and they always warn investors to do their own research before investing in any projects they made mention, I think they've played save enough.
227  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Running node makes sense? on: March 04, 2022, 01:11:34 PM
Trading and mining coins are way better than running a node, it's way too expensive and less profitable too I don't know where you heard about this but it's a wrong decision.
228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Building my first mining rig became easier with bitcointalk. on: March 02, 2022, 08:31:32 PM
Congrats 👏 I hope your OC settings are not much as they can cause reboots and instability later make sure you are using stable OC for your graphic cards, happy mining.
229  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Am I getting the right hashrate? on: March 02, 2022, 12:40:23 PM
I need your opinion about 1660ti mining gaming X edition, is it good to get 30mh off this card mining Ethereum or I can somehow get more hashrate?
230  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Ergo mining question on: March 02, 2022, 12:32:32 PM
Why do ergo coin have higher hashrate over other coins but less profits from mining the coin?
231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: What's a pleasant way of marketing? on: February 25, 2022, 09:23:55 AM
There are tons of marketing specialists out there, first of all erase all the thoughts of marketing yourself, you and your team members can't do it all by yourselves you need more and more ideas so be ready to spend money, it's why some new projects try to raise funds first.
232  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trying to know more about crypto wallets on: February 25, 2022, 09:13:58 AM
IMO, I won't suggest to newbies this paper wallet as the Bitcoin wallet, because it's a very crucial part when you create this and if you don't have experience or knowledge, it could be your Bitcoin will be lost.
What I am talking about is how OP can store his seed phrases by writing them down on a piece of paper and laminating it to increase its longevity since metal seed plates are somewhat expensive and is an overkill for a newbie to use.

Paper wallet is different, and I too, would not recommend the use of it. It requires a lot of technical know-how to be able to use them effective while reducing the risk of losing your hard earned crypto.
How about carving the recovery seeds on a stainless steel and keep the stainless steel with me? This will withstand some natural disasters that may happen don't you think?.
233  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Need advice for a token before mass buying please on: February 24, 2022, 10:36:07 AM
Project with no single partnership with strong projects is hard to trust this days, the use case isn't as good as other DeFI projects, the team information is no where to be found, be careful what you wish for.

235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / How good is crypto mining for a newbie on: February 20, 2022, 07:05:51 PM
I don't want to start my crypto mining journey with what if as I'm ready for anything that's been thrown at me, I have access to the sunlight can I use this to farm and mine coins just for a beginner nothing too big, I read it's possible because I'm from Africa and grid power isn't always available every day.
236  Other / Beginners & Help / Trying to know more about crypto wallets on: February 20, 2022, 05:51:09 PM
I have a few questions

1. Is there any proper place to keep your private keys?
2. Do you have to keep your hardware wallet keys the same way as a mobile wallet or does a hardware wallet have better security features that mobile wallets don't have?
3. Will you rather spend dollars on hardware wallet as a newbie than use a mobile wallet?
237  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / About USDT on: February 12, 2022, 06:40:50 PM
Please correct me if I got it all wrong, audited projects are projects that have passed some security checkup right? As a newbie I kinda like investing in projects that are audited atleast so back to my question, USDT is the biggest stable coin right? When I tracked it on coinmarketcap I found out that's it passed audits through Certik and Fairyproof, why haven't this clear the rumour that USDT might fail someday? Because it's Centralised? If that's it then why DAI ( decentralized stable coin) haven't grow over USDT all this while?
238  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Any Vodafone like crypto project? on: February 08, 2022, 09:55:51 PM
Is there any communication company like Vodafone but running on blockchain system that are fully decentralized or centralised? I'm just curious if there is any that's presently functioning.
239  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Open source crypto wallet on: February 08, 2022, 08:16:16 PM
Newbie here, is open source the most secured crypto wallet? Do centralised wallets have open source too or its only decentralized wallets that can be open source? What mobile wallets are open source?
