221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: wallet.dat from 2010 on: May 14, 2024, 07:34:31 AM
I have never heard of pywallet and checking it now it has a bad reputation, and you may make a mistake that willl hand the file over to scammers.
I will suggest you switch to a reputable wallet like bitcoin core and run the file when it has synced fully. There is a link to download the latest core version at the top of this page. Remember to back up the wallet.dat file first to a different device to be extra careful.

Have you ever come across anything in documents or stored papers that looks like a collection of random words, maybe 12 or 24 words as they are the most common ones? If not, you can check through personal things if they are still available.

Typical Arsenal supporter mentality: giving up before it's over. You have yet to lose to a top six team this season and have already topped your team's all-time league win total; if that is not enough to win the league, you may never win it again.
Sometimes I wonder if you read replies backwards or just try to be witty and come up with a quick reply, but it is all good humor.

Well let me say it slower, we had the league in our hands and we lost it and now our destiny is not in OUR hands. I have faith in my team to win the final game of the season but cannot extend that faith to Spurs or WestHam. I hope they win, but as at this time we can only hope.
The team has been amazing this season, but if it is not enough then it is not, you do not get a winners medal for coming really close. Liverpool has finished a season with 97 points which will be almost ten times more than the maximum we can get, great achievement, but still finished short.

If a miracle happens, I will be the happiest fan. If not, we dust off and come back stronger next season, goal is to better 89 points by as much as possible.

Crazy match so far. Liverpool have extended their lead to 1 - 3 and Aston Villa have had a goal disallowed for offside in a tight call. Bailey, who was in an offside position, could have left the ball as there was an obviously onside Villa payer following closely behind him. Liverpool have also had a goal disallowed for offside.

I do not mind at all. I need Villa to lose to give Tottenham an honest shout at the 4th position and an extra incentive to take all 3 points against City tomorrow.

Who saw the press conference with David Moyes where he said they may not be able to stop City's under-14s on the final game? If they scale through Tottenham tomorrow I will count the league lost and I am not holding out huge hope for tomorrow either.

On Football facts; Arsenal deserves to win the league but for the sake of side bets and London sanity, I would rather have City win it every season.
You do not deserve to win a league you lost. The better team over 38 games wins the title, if that is City then they totally deserve to win it and we will be cheering them on for next season.

228  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic conflicts because nobody don't want to live with less USA vs brics on: May 13, 2024, 03:30:57 PM
There are no BRICS representatives here, you can send your request to any of the countries that make it up and wait for their response.

I will just point out that the world has had several wars in the past 60 or so years with the USA being the world power, many started by them. This defeats the point I like to think you are trying to make of the other countries timidly rolling over for USA in exchange for peace.

It's true that success correlates with spending but EPL already accounts for the majority of spending across Europe, so I think some curtailing on that can't be a bad thing. Honestly, if you can't assemble a squad that's competitive in Europe without spending insane money, you shouldn't. We'll just have to trust that La Liga and Serie A will also do the same (I believe the Barca issues are proof of this). PSG will also eventually wind down and give up throwing money at UCL.
Other clubs would not. They just need to avoid financial fair play rules and stay successful. The Barcelona issue is more of mismanagement than rules working as they should. The anchoring bit in the proposed rule is the part I think will not have the desired or expected result.

I have to think so. There's also West Ham so Moyes could take a final parting shot at City, but honestly, I can't see them dropping any points in these two games. They may struggle to score, but win they will.
West Ham, at the Etihad? A camel will easier go through the eye of a needle than for them to take a point off City. If City do draw against Spurs, which is the best result I can hope for, and it goes down to goal difference, I fear WestHam will capitulate and City hit 5 or 6 past them. We are in a good position with +3 goal difference, but it is much lower than it was some weeks ago.

230  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CEX or DEX: Which One Rewards You More? on: May 13, 2024, 03:10:16 PM
I don't think the government will clamp down on exchanges that comply with AML laws and are compliant.
If an exchange is 100% decentralized, down to their servers, it will not matter if the government wants to clamp down on non-compliant platforms as they are off the grid. But we have very little, if any truly decentralized exchange and many centralized ones claiming not to be. Being a crypto user worried about privacy, it is a struggle joggling your options to pick the right option that gives a balance on privacy, service and liquidity.

The exchange bonuses and rewards are usually just one time payments and are so small they should not influence anyone's decision. You can create a random account with random details and claim them, not to use the exchange again.

231  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Metaplanet Makes Bitcoin a Reserve Asset As Japan’s Debt Mountain Grows on: May 13, 2024, 12:35:23 PM
117 bitcoin is small investment, but compared to the value of the company, taking Bitcoin as a reserve is a serious step...
If they mirror the strategy microstrategy employed when getting into bitcoin, they are off to a very good start. When you check the valuation of the company you realize that they have put in roughly 35% of their entire market cap with plans to buy more.

It is a matter of time now that more companies will start looking outside of fiat to protect their wealth and Bitcoin fits the bidding for most being digital, decentralized, secure and valuable.

Signals are scams. You pay for it and get used as props still to pump and dump random coins. It is a good thing that person lost early and got out quick. They obviously have a get rich quick mindset and were always going to part with their money.

edit; after going through your post history, you should visit threads after making them and join the conversations and do more reading than creating low quality threads.

233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [Apr 2024] Fees are HIGH, wait for opportunity to Consolidate your small inputs on: May 12, 2024, 05:41:24 PM
I have no idea what's with the 4999 sat amounts.
That user has done that previously with 546 sats and 294 sats. They may be holding out hope that those numbers will become significant in the future or they like the symmetry that comes with it.

234  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Understanding dormant wallets for beginners on: May 12, 2024, 12:04:49 PM
The period to use should be years, not only a half of year.
I do not think any period should be used. There have been addresses that made no outgoing transaction for more than 12 years and one day sent to another address, if this is possible, then there are addresses that have held for longer and are yet to move their coins. Addresses can also be lost and later the seedphrase will be found.

I will vote for addresses to only be considered dormant or inactive, but not lost.

235  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [Apr 2024] Fees are HIGH, wait for opportunity to Consolidate your small inputs on: May 12, 2024, 11:47:44 AM
Currently, there are many 11.0 sat/vbyte consolidations. But those all have 4999 sat inputs, and it looks like it's the Ordinal spammers that are now spamming consolidations. So one way or another, they occupy most block space.
What will be the purpose of spamming consolidations? All I can think of is they will want the fee to be cheaper when they make a transaction at a later time, does not sound much like spamming. If we have more of them conscious of how much are paid in fees, the feerate should not be all over the place as it has been since the halving and some months before that.

236  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: May 11, 2024, 03:31:36 PM
Watching Spurs in this first half they are not playing at all like a team that is competing for Champions league football. Burnley playing to stay in the league look far more motivated and most likely to win the match. Does not look at all like a team that can stop City during the week.
They have been the same for the second half as well.

Crystal Palace again putting on a show. Oliver Glasner has done a brilliant job with the crop of players and I am excited for how they perform next season.

237  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When did you realize you need to be a responsible gambler so you can continue ? on: May 11, 2024, 03:30:00 PM
I would have chose the "I am a responsible person" option, but that may not be entirely true. Almost everyone has a vice they get hooked on, could be soda drinks, junk food, gambling and so on. I never got hooked to the concept of gambling, I find it appealing cause of my love for sports and desire to get predictions correct, but I have never imagined getting rich from gambling.

238  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Non custodial wallet is not for the weak on: May 11, 2024, 03:04:48 PM
You are right, non-custodial wallets for storing crypto are a type of wallet that is usually meant for more advanced users...
It does not take any technical knowledge to write down a seedphrase and store that securely in a location. Having a diary is as easy to do as writing down your backup phrase. The general misconception around it is what scares many users away and the fact that they are not used to actually having the full responsibility of securing their funds.

Or they choose the partial non-custodial way which requires them to enter their email address, and using the finger print scanner on their phone, their wallet seed phrase or private key is automatically kept and stored for the user in the cloud, which they can only gain access to with the help of the wallet company's customer care support.
There is nothing like partial non custodian wallet, the alternative here is a custodian wallet.

239  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Non custodial wallet is not for the weak on: May 10, 2024, 07:59:38 PM
I think it is a wallet designed for specific kind of people that are willing to take responsibilities.
Bitcoin is designed for people who are willing to take responsibility, non custodian wallets are just tools to achieve that. If you're not interested in being your own bank, then stick to a regular bank.

240  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Dips are temporary but Bitcoin is forever. on: May 09, 2024, 05:46:09 PM
Dips are not temporary, it is an integral part of market economics. Every market which is motivated by traders' sentiment will always experience volatility, and volatility means price pumps and dips.

Bitcoin will always go into periods of dips and pumps, but as time goes by the dips will be to much higher prices than the previous ones and a investor will be only able to buy less and less fractions of it.
