221  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling can be a hope restorer if we go about it wisely! on: February 02, 2024, 04:28:34 PM

And in the piggy bank of such stories, you can also add a recent story that the father of two children, one of whom was 2 years old, left for five hours to play at the casino.
This is the act of an incredibly irresponsible man who has already completely lost his face as a strong personality. He betrayed the most precious thing - the trust of his children, and didn't matter even if he got a huge win. The cost of such an absence could be very high.

I had read and shared my opinion on that thread. It was definitely an irresponsible behavior and the man probably had felt that gambling could restore whatever hopes he had and that’s why he left the kids unattended to and left to the casino.
In this scenario, gambling didn’t turn out to be a hope restorer for him, his lack of control has even dashed his hopes as he’s likely to face some consequences for his irresponsible actions.

When you wholly depend on gambling to earn money, you’re more likely slide into addiction, then lose not just the money you’ve got left but genuine friends who can’t keep up with your lifestyle anymore.
222  Economy / Economics / Re: Why we should prioritize investment over saving on: February 02, 2024, 03:23:14 PM
Having considered what inflation does to the value of money, I think it’s still worth it to have a reasonable amount of money in savings. If one wants to save money for a long period of time, there are accounts(fixed deposits account)opened for just that purpose. That way, you won’t feel the brunt of inflation that much.

It’s also real nice to have an investment as if managed properly, it could turn out very profitable but you should note that investments ordinarily take quite a long time before it starts to constantly yield positive results if any.
Sadly, not everyone has the means to have an investment as there are a lot of people who struggle to save. If it’s difficult to save, how then could they squeeze out money to invest?
223  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: February 02, 2024, 02:50:44 PM
It seems Manchester City is not taking care of the future of the team and they easily lose their young talent, Alfie Harrison.
Alfie Harrison is an 18-year-old player who played and had a good performance and many people were even comparing him with Haalnd because of the performance he had in Manchester City.
But this player left Manchester City and he is going to play for Newcastle after signing his contract for 3.5 million pounds.

This transfer move  shouldn’t automatically mean they’re not looking to the future of the team. And they’re not losing their young talents only cause of his departure, they’re letting him go. There’s a difference.
He’s a talented player and that’s why Newcastle had an interest in having him. He wouldn’t get the playing time he would have loved at Manchester city as there are other experienced players in the squad that are more likely to be picked for a game.

Hopefully, the move to Newcastle would give him the playing time he hopes to get. He’s still young and has his career ahead of him.
224  Economy / Economics / Re: One of the biggest problem in our society is that average person don't have on: February 02, 2024, 02:15:20 PM
Now If you go to the bank to ask money even If they see you have good skills good knowledge they still don't give you If you not meet the criteria of requirements.
But to meet with those requirements it's allmost impossible. (The game is rigged)

It’s not almost impossible to get a loan from the bank. Perhaps you found it to be difficult as you didn’t meet the requirements and ultimately got denied. The bank is always  looking for opportunities to make money for themselves and loans is one option of raising funds for itself.
Seems like it’s now a trend that when a certain thing doesn’t work in your favor, it’s automatically rigged.

With cryptocurrency everybody can access to endless liquity and finances and that's nice the average person without education or even financial background can earn money here without rigged rules or restrictions.

Don’t kid yourself. Cryptocurrency wouldn’t solve world hunger and bring about peace in the land. I wish it were so but it isn’t.
Always whining about things being rigged, you remind me of a certain politician.
225  Economy / Economics / Re: Why does a country borrow money from the world bank even when they can afford it on: February 02, 2024, 12:17:18 PM
It’s quite absurd for a country to borrow money from wherever for whatever reasons when they’ve got the money themselves to do so. Ask yourself, would you go ahead and take a loan from the bank for a project when you’ve got the amount needed and more?

No country would posses sufficient money and still go ahead to borrow money from a financial institution knowing they would have to repay with some interest.

Asides all of that, these financial institutions that one would say are readily available to bailout and give loans to countries going through an economic turmoil would then have a certain level of influence and say in the country’s economic affairs . And the influence to be had is what’s really vital to these institutions.
226  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2 years old kids alone at home for hours, while the father goes gambling on: February 02, 2024, 09:55:18 AM

My question here is where is his wife? It's even more obvious that both parents are irresponsible. For 5 good hours a responsible wife must have called her husband to check up on the kids. If she's so busy to take care of them her self then she should at least call to as of them.
The fathers irresponsible act will cause more harm to those children if not controlled on time.

Why bring the spouse into this. The one being irresponsible here is obviously just the father who was supposed to be home looking after the kids. If anything, the wife would probably be working bearing in mind her kids would be home safe with her husband whose job it is at that point to look after the kids.
The wife has no fault in any of this. We’re not entirely sure if she called to check in on the kids or not but I wouldn’t fault her even if she didn’t call. The husband was the one watching the kids and he failed woefully at that.  With actions like this, he probably doesn’t deserve the responsibility of raising kids.
227  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling addiction does more harm than mere financial loss on: February 01, 2024, 11:55:09 PM
An addiction is never a good thing in my opinion. A gambling addiction brings a lot of people around the addict pain and stress. If there are people who love and support someone before they slid into addiction, those family and friends are in for a trying time as the activities of the gambler is sure to tell on them later on.
The psychological toll it would have on the addict as well his friends and family would equally be telling.

I wouldn’t conclude that gambling addicts are prone to violent behaviors due to having a good number of losses at the casino. While there would be a significant increase in the stress in the relationship of an addict, I’d like to think people who are violent towards their partners are violent individuals and even without the aid of a gambling addiction, there may still be violent tendencies in that individual towards the spouse.
228  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you believe in gambling experts predictions? on: February 01, 2024, 11:40:41 PM
It depends on the type of gambling. For a game like sport betting, yes, I can believe in gambling expert predictions. But if you speak of games which aren’t based on predictions skills but entirely on luck, it’s foolish to believe that someone can predict it just because they are expert, because the odds are random and doesn’t give anyone room asides from a 50/50 outcome. Lastly, even for sports betting, be careful what expert you trust… it’s THEIR judgment you’re staking YOUR money on.

Even in sports betting, I would say it’s not wise to believe that someone could predict the outcome just cause they’re believed to be an expert. They can only predict what they feel to be the outcome as no one knows how the outcome of games could turn out to be.
You said it yourself,”it’s foolish to believe that someone could predict outcomes of games cause they’re an expert”. And people seem to forget your other point. You would be trusting their judgement and staking your money on what they think. It’s a huge risk one should be aware of and willing to take.
229  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think women will make better gamblers by their nature? on: February 01, 2024, 11:26:34 PM
I agree with you.

I think financial education and understanding the value of money is what makes the difference that counts. We're in the 21st century, women are educated on financial and gambling issues just like men. The rest is just random, so in my humble opinion gender doesn't condition anything.

Agree with this point. The gender has little on who would make a better gambler later on.
Proper financial education helps one understand/know the value of money. Both men and women are now educated on such topics and in as much women are now entering more boldly, the gambling scene, I don’t see women being a more better gambler than men.
It majorly depends on the individual in particular and not really the gender of the person. The gender has little to nothing to do with how a person manages money well and how much of a better gambler the person is.

230  Economy / Economics / Re: The world's logic favours income makers, not the savers on: February 01, 2024, 09:57:17 PM
Why would a person judiciously save money to buy a luxury thing he can't afford to maintain? If a person has a dream car or house or gadget and your income can afford it, shouldn't the goal be for the person to work harder and earn more income?

Apparently, people sometimes feel the need to go way beyond their means to give others the impression of living a somewhat wealthy life. There’s no immediate plan for the future as such individuals only think of now. Also, such individuals, also being quite materialistic, would prefer to want to buy luxury items even if it would make a good dent in their finances. To such people, having luxury items may make them feel more acceptable in the society, hence the constant struggle to acquire them despite having an average to low income.

Ordinarily, the next move would be increase the amount earned so as to be able to afford the lifestyle you want. But such people would easily go into debt giving a false impression than to work harder and earn more.
231  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My first Bitcoin on: February 01, 2024, 04:08:38 PM
Actually this is confusing as how can you work so hard when you have no JOB?  mind explaining this for us to really believe that you are talking here?

When someone is striving hard to attain something, it could also be said that person is working hard towards achieving that particular thing. It’s actually not confusing. It isn’t necessarily a job when one talks about working hard. You could work hard in your chores or in your studies. Not just in your workplace.

another question here, you are earning 5 figures but only spending 110 dollars from that salary when you told us  above that you are working so hard to invest in bitcoin?

When after working hard and finally thought it appropriate to put in the amount he did, why should you or anyone else have a problem with it?
$110 to a great extent, is a good amount to start with for someone fairly new to bitcoin and I applaud him on that move.
232  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: stop the unnecessary blame on gambling whenever you get unlucky on: February 01, 2024, 03:31:34 PM
It’s pretty simple. When one wins a good sum of money, it’s solely due to his skills and prowess in gambling but when there is a loss or series of losses, it’s “gambling” that’s the cause of it. Very quick to claim all the glory when the outcome is positively in your favor and quicker to absolve oneself of any fault or responsibility when the outcome isn’t what was hoped for and turns out negative.

People have and probably would still blame everything and everyone else but themselves for their own actions and failures. Admittedly, no one likes to fail or lose.. but it’s life. There are wins and losses for literally everyone and the sooner one owns up to his mistakes and failures, it would be easier to learn from it and move on.
233  Economy / Economics / Re: Leadership and Economics on: January 31, 2024, 10:33:40 PM

what about you, do you agree with the right leader can make your life as a citizen, businessman or an investor comfortable?

Obviously, a good leader with a vision would equally bring about positive growth to citizens. Are you expecting anything contrary?
Look at leaders of nations of the earth today. Good and visionary leaders put in place policies that in turn bring about investors leading to economic growth.

Same with any organization. The head of any organization must have necessary qualities of good leadership including being innovative to be able to healthily compete and thrive amongst competitors in the market. Without an able leadership, the body would be unable to function effectively and is bound to fail sooner or later.
234  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you believe visiting a seer or spiritual house could make you win a game? on: January 31, 2024, 09:15:42 PM
I think people would believe in just about anything. And when one has a firm belief in something, that thing tend to work for that person occasionally.
But it’s a bit weird for someone to go to great lengths like the one mentioned in the OP to get predictions for games that could win. I know one thing for sure; depending wholly on gambling as a source of earning an income could majorly push gamblers to extents such as these.

As for the predictions gotten from such sources, it’s no different for me than getting predictions from so-called “experts” we’ve got all over the place online.
235  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 31, 2024, 07:14:08 PM
Rashford is a good player with lots of potentials and this is something we all know, he have been inconsistent for some years now which could be due to certain reasons but in opinion i think it’s Manchester United’s bad form that is affecting him, the same thing is happening to Bruno Fernandez who is a very talented player but seem to have lost his special touch.

We could see a different Rashford if he leaves Manchester United as the team seem to be affecting all the players there. There is no certainty though but i believe there is more left in Rashford.

I’ve always liked and thought highly of Rashford as a player. I think he’s a good player despite his inconsistent performances for Manchester United lately.
Perhaps we could see a different player in Rashford if he leaves for another club. Like you noted, it’s not entirely certain but like you, I still believe there’s more fight in the player.I’d hate to think the team has had an overall negative impact effect on its players performance.

About speculations on him leaving for PSG, I highly doubt that. I think Manchester United still have use for him on the team.
236  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Pay off DEBT by do Gambling? think again before you loss more on: January 31, 2024, 01:19:34 PM
Unfortunately, there are people who think the way your friend thinks. Its very possible to double or even triple the money used to gamble but the chances are extremely slim and not in the favor of the gambler. You’re more likely to lose your money than to have that win. It’s not a risk anyone looking to pay off a debt or a pressing bill should consider taking.
For someone who has a stable source of warning an income, It’s much better taking out a loan from the bank if friends and family doesn’t come through than to use what you have left to gamble.

They’ve been tales of people who made similar mistakes and how they regretted their actions as it almost always doesn’t end well. But it seems such stories haven’t made much of an impact on gamblers as some still tow the same path, making the same or similar mistakes.
237  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The scam of FAKE fixed matches on: January 31, 2024, 12:39:45 PM
I can understand how people not accustomed to online gambling could fall prey to scams like this. Greed plays a key role in a good number of people that get scammed. The idea of being privy to the scores/outcome of a supposedly fixed game could attract even someone that ordinarily doesn’t gamble.

In a bid to win some good money quickly, the greed in us would then nudge us just enough to put in that savings that we’ve been saving for months. “It’s a fixed game that’s going to be a sure win.  We’re sure to get our money back and more..” These are thoughts that would likely be going through our heads as logic is by then, no where to be found.

We should be diligent and wary about our interactions online. Not everyone online has good intentions.
238  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 30, 2024, 09:58:11 PM

Yeah! There's no perfect fit for that Real Madrid squad right now than Kylian Mbappe and also Endrick. What I really don't know is if the signature of Kylian Mbappe would put a player like Vinicius Junior on the bench, but I believe they all can play together in the same team. That was slightly off topic though!

Kylian Mbappe would be fit for Los Blancos side considering the fact that they're after fast and pacy quality players. Considering they want to recruit, Alphonso Davies and also Alexander Arnold who is well known as a good passer of the ball.

Mbappe would no doubt make an impression on the squad. He’s an equally fact paced player and with his speed, he could easily play his role at the front and score goals.
It’s no news anymore on his desire to play at Real Madrid and the club, obviously recognizing his talents wants him too.
About Vini seeing the bench more often, It does make one wonder.
239  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can gambling addiction lead to domestic violence? on: January 29, 2024, 11:32:33 PM
However, I'm wondering if addiction can make someone become aggressive to the point of leading to domestic violence. Has there been any known case of it happening? Lets know what you have to say.

I do think we should have focus more on the individual and less on the activity. People tend to misbehave impulsively and then blame it on some other person or an activity for making them do whatever they did. There’s no personal responsibility for actions taken anymore.
If someone who unfortunately becomes a gambling addict, and after series of losses at the casino, goes home and roughs up his spouse, I would squarely blame the man having little to no consideration on the fact that he’s a gambling addict. I think such people would be violent to their spouses even if they don’t gamble.
240  Economy / Economics / Re: The 150 year old maths and logic theory on the best period to make money: on: January 29, 2024, 10:18:04 PM
It would be much easier to jump on the bandwagon and shriek with glee as the secret to knowing the best years to make money is now known. But the reality is no maths nor logic theory could ever predict the good times and the bad in our ever changing and evolving world.
Nothing really fascinating about this theory tbh. And the economies of the earth pretty much dances to the tunes of supply and demand which in turn could be influenced by man made factors. This theory is just that; a theory. It’s the reality of life that there are going to be ups and downs, good times and bad ones. No predictions needed to tell me that.
