221  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: In 2015, faucets are bad for bitcoin on: March 09, 2015, 07:33:54 PM
and there are a lot of faucet sites out there that are scams....

How does this work? Either you get free bitcoins or you don't... but they never ask you anything in exchange.
By definition its a week clicking nonstop with max ~8min intervals for minimum payout
222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do central banks attack bitcoin? on: March 07, 2015, 02:40:57 PM
Back in the day when we had a true free market (just a generation or 2 ago) the entire banking industry was less than 2% of GDP. During this time banks did not control anything are were a true service industry. In the past 50 years the banking industry has exploded to over 30% of GDP.
Libertarians across the board want banks reigned in by eliminating the FED who's artificial backstopping is the sole reason the banking industry is out of control.
Libertarians understand money and how banks control just about everything better than most. That is the entire reason Bitcoin first took off with libertarians.
223  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BItcoin offline transactions? on: March 07, 2015, 02:38:51 PM
Yes, you can exchange a paper wallet or coin wallet for goods or services.

You're correct in realizing, though, that the greatest weakness to Bitcoin is its dependency on the network (and more so power/electricity). If the power grid goes down it becomes impossible to access the network upon which most wallets exist and transactions occur.
Maybe unrelated, but this makes me want plugs to put between the wall and all my appliances and gadgets to get a breakdown of my electricity usage.
224  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: POLL - Have you been robbed any BTC? And what OS do you use? on: March 07, 2015, 02:31:48 PM

What about Android?

Most of people who got scammed lost their BTC on shady exchanges, how's OS relevant in this case?

after I use Windows, I have been robbed and now I switched to Android, whether the risk will be higher?
Why not buy a hardware wallet ?

where can I get it? I do not know about the hardware wallet  Undecided
Hardware wallets like Trezor are effective in stopping malware since there are currently no designed for it and they have anti keylogger features. IMO it is a good investment for huge amount of BTC. For small amounts go for paper wallets generated on offline computer.

ohh yeah I've heard it, even once there is one of the web when first launching Trezor giveaway.

quite expensive? like its hard to get it in my country
I would say its expensive for someone storing a tiny Bit of bitcoin but a wise investment of someone storing a hundred or thousand of Bitcoin. Its worth noting that it is not waterproof, though water resistant. It may cause damage to your device since it isn't 100% waterproof. Water will eventually go inside due to high water pressure if submerged for a long time.

yes it is very suitable for large investors, which saves 100btc up.

if like me just looking for free and do not necessarily BTC monthly income, no need to buy it
Or just get a trezor and use multiple passwords and pin. An easy one for spending and revealing if you are robbed and a harder one for savings. If it's ever stolen just reload on a new trezor.
225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Silk Road Documentary Teaser on: March 07, 2015, 02:27:44 PM
Ross ulbricht was actually a very smart dude and the amount of technical and financial knowledge required to accomplish something like the silk road is quite impressive. Although he did make some stupid mistakes it's understandable considering he was one of the first to do something like this. People have learned a lot from ulbrichts mistakes and new dark net markets are safer because of it.
226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Andreas M. Antonopoulos testimony for Australian Senate on: March 07, 2015, 02:24:40 PM
Just keep in mind, 1$ is 1$. but as its value changes that 1$ isnt worth as much. so while 1 USD is still 1 physical USD. its value has changed. in 2004 1 physical USD had 1$ of value. but compared to 2014 1 physical USD now only has 0.60 USD of value. thats over 10 years. in the history of the US, the Physical USD has lost more and more value. it may have ups and downs but if you know what a downtrend is, Its going down steadily and losing value over time.

But the USD isnt the only currency doing this. there are others...

The difficulty in measuring value of a currency is that you have to have
227  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTCPoint Creates 10,000 Bitcoin-Enabled ATMs Using Spanish Bank Network on: March 07, 2015, 02:22:38 PM
There would be much fun, spain is a great place to launch nation-wide Bitcoin-to-cash ATM service.
228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is the rumor about the latest 50,000 BTC auction true? on: March 07, 2015, 02:19:26 PM
Much more fun to hope that someone buys and offloads steadily, driving the market to ruin in a couple days or weeks. A man can dream, right? Sending them to the eater would be far too kind to the eminently courteous butt-crowd.
229  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Paypal acceptin Bitcoin mean you can pay with Bitcoin in any Paypal site? on: March 07, 2015, 02:15:20 PM
No, they are offering the same service they're offering with PAYMENT CARDS. Paypal exists so I don't have to have a merchant account to get paid via credit/debit cards. Now, I don't need a bitcoin wallet to accept bitcoins either. Presumably, Paypal will convert the bitcoins to currency (for a fee!) and deposit that in my paypal account.

233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hongkong lawmakers wants to ban Bitcoin!! Bitfinex, Huobi, Okcoin in danger!!! on: March 07, 2015, 02:07:22 PM

234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Adam Draper Invests in 24 More Bitcoin Companies on: March 07, 2015, 02:04:55 PM
Not impressed. Come up with something user friendly that won't scare away our parents or grandparents but instead allows them to safely send, receive, buy and sell Bitcoins in an error free user interface application then were getting somewhere. These startups that he has helped build would confuse people not so familiar with this all.
235  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Sp20 - Antminer S4 - Hashfast board with asic on: March 07, 2015, 01:58:33 PM
I'll offer $350 to start. Can you also roughly how much it would cost to ship to Toronto, Canada (I'll PM you the postal code)

350 for which unit?

Doesnt matter much, I have already gotten higher offers of 400$ for each unit
The pick is actually worth somewhere in the order of $150.
236  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin debit card on: March 07, 2015, 01:50:02 PM
No USA on the list?

no, not yet, unfortunately. The card can be used in the US though, no problem with that

see i dont understand that what makes anx cards different that all the competition, they are in hong kong and they will ship the cards to people in the usa, i wish this card would be in the usa as well Cry

Not open for people in the US but it can be used in the US that did make me chuckle, do we know how much charges to expect with these debit cards because chances are they are going to be stupidly high and that will shy me away from getting one i really dislike high fee's when there really is no need for them. Do we need debit cards anyway? Only a matter of time and enough places will accept bitcoin payments. If i am right a lot of us will not be cashing out at a atm because this is an investment like stocks, we have paper debt money to cash out at atm.
Then you should push for merchant adoption of direct Bitcoin payments and you'll be able to do that without any sort of card whatsoever. If we instead settle for cards, then Bitcoin becomes nothing more or less than another tool in the financial cartel arsenal and we would have accomplished nothing. Also, you are one very angry person. Go... take a dump or an acupuncture massage or something man, you'll burst a vein or something.
237  Economy / Speculation / Re: I have USD 2000 to invest. Should I buy Bitcoins or gold? on: March 07, 2015, 01:47:16 PM
BTC provides a built in mechanism for proving it is valid.

Leave some gold in a special box for 2 hours and you can be certain its pure gold... Would be awesome Smiley Leave BTC in your account for 2 hours and you will have confirmations in the blockchain on nodes all around the world, each saying to you "Yes, this is pure and legit BTC".
238  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trojan targetting bitcoin! on: March 07, 2015, 01:44:53 PM
Purely theoretical, all bitcoin clients that do not depend on hardware encrypted keys are susceptible to these kinds of attacks. Solutions like Trezor stop these types of attacks, but the workflow is more difficult than simply using a software wallet (and they're expensive).

Hopefully, things like bitcoin will be a driving force for TPM chips, small crypto chips embedded in your computer, that stop attacks like these.
239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 20MB Fork on: March 07, 2015, 01:43:05 PM
You "trust " Gavin? Good for you, but as a side note, the purpose of bitcoin is trustworthiness. About the hardfork, I disapprove. Because if we hardfork to 20mb that means at some point be will have to hardfork again. Clearly not a thoughtful proposal taking in consideration the risks of a hardfork.
240  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you "scared" that Bitcoin might actually succeed? on: March 07, 2015, 01:39:02 PM
Bitcoin is a horrible money transmitter if low transaction fees would ever become a real threat to the banking sector, banks would simply lower their fees to match, and find other ways to make money off of you. If Bitcoin becomes an significant part of the economy the need for extreme decentralization will be less. In such a situation the government cannot attack Bitcoin anymore without harming the economy.
