221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lighting Network is a BANK'S TRAP? on: February 15, 2018, 02:06:55 PM
What does it matter when more than 95% of all transactions are processed through centralized wallets or exchanges like Coinbase. This technology won't make it much more centralized for them than it already is. Also you don't have to use lightning network, it's just a layer build upon the original system. At least some scaling is going to be solved because there are definitely people that are going to use it.
222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why there are too many? Bitcoin price, Altcoins, ICOs and Newbies on: February 14, 2018, 03:52:10 PM
There is a really easy explanation for this, humans have an instinct for money and think they can get that here. Luckily the forum administrators made it harder for newbies to get what they come for.
223  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Question for all you holders on: February 14, 2018, 03:39:53 PM
I don't have an exit strategy, because I don't think that Bitcoin will die anytime soon.
The majority of my coins are just for holding purposes but besides holding I also try to use them to pay for goods and services, whenever I can.
It might feel different for people that bought Bitcoins when the price was $1000 but I got in around $100, so it doesn't really feel as a loss when the value halves.
224  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Only 9300 unconfirmed transactions today on: February 08, 2018, 03:10:37 PM
You're right, the mempool was really high during Christmas. This development is great for micro-payments, because it means lower fees. This graph shows that the fees are decreasing with the mempool: https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/bitcoin-transactionfees.html.
225  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Don't look at btc every five minutes on: February 08, 2018, 02:54:13 PM
That's so true, it's the reason why I don't do it that often. But it's a matter of not seeing only the negative side, I always buy more during a crash and after a recovery profit from it. A constant increase is only favorable for people that already have Bitcoin.
226  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why buy and store bitcoin , some opinions from me! on: February 08, 2018, 01:59:48 PM
+ The average person in the world only owns 0.03 btc per person!
That's not true, there are not 21 million coins in circulation yet. Also 21x10^6/7.6x10^9 equals to 0.003, you forgot a zero. But the true answer is 16.853.162/7,600,572,467 (http://www.worldometers.info/world-population/) = 0.0022, and that's quite a difference.
227  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The paranoia of being recognized... on: February 07, 2018, 09:30:13 PM
I am not really paranoid that people know that I own Bitcoins. The people that I told about my Bitcoins are mostly friends and family, I trust these people for not telling everyone about it. At first I tried to hide the fact that I have Bitcoins but this turned out to be very hard, because nowadays everyone knows about Bitcoin and therefor is a regular subject in a conversation.

230  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Evrial Trojan Switches Bitcoin Addresses Copied to Windows Clipboard on: February 07, 2018, 07:42:52 PM
Are you referring to the virus that adjust your clipboard to when it detects that you copied a Bitcoin address? Or is this a new sort of malware that targets specific wallet clients?
231  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are Vanity Addresses Safe ?? on: February 07, 2018, 06:46:39 PM
It's safe to store Bitcoins in a vanity address that you created yourself, using your own computer. Websites that offer vanity address generation are not, even if the backend doesn't safe the password then it can still be obtained by a thief, especially when use unencrypted HTTP. So when you really want to do this, make sure your computer is not infected, then use a program like this https://github.com/samr7/vanitygen. Also this program can be compiled from source, for extra safety.
232  Economy / Speculation / Re: Eight reasons why bitcoin lost more than half the value in just two months on: February 06, 2018, 10:52:46 PM
I don't think that the Facebook's ban on e-money advertising really affects Bitcoin, as it isn't a company so I doubt if anybody advertises from it's own pocket. Neither does the stealing of Bitcoin play any role in the value of Bitcoin, this problem is not new. Also you forgot to mention anything about the tether problem, an easy explanation can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpvmRJZDfoE.
233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hardware wallet on: February 05, 2018, 07:36:19 PM
You don't necessary have to buy a hardware wallet to keep your coins save. There are other very convenient ways to store digital coins, for example a paper wallet or an air-gapped machine. I personally prefer those over hardware wallets, as they don't have to cost any money. If you have a spare computer laying around then you can use that as a hardware wallet. Disconnect the computer from the internet preferably by removing the network adapter and then install a software wallet with offline signing capabilities, using an USB flashdrive.
234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: need best wallet on: February 05, 2018, 01:02:34 PM
There are multiple wallets that allow you to change the standard fee you send along with a transaction. But that doesn't mean miners will add your transaction in a block, most miners give priority to transactions with higher fees.
235  Economy / Speculation / Re: CAN ANYONE PLEASE SHED SOME LIGHT? WHAT'S WRONG WITH BTC? on: February 05, 2018, 12:33:47 PM
There is nothing wrong with Bitcoin except the scaling problems. But that is not really a problem anymore if so much countries are banning Bitcoin and therefore reducing the traffic on the Bitcoin network. The value decrease is caused by the hype, because new investors are cutting out there losses.
236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin might soon be call altcoin on: February 04, 2018, 06:03:13 PM
Bitcoin was the first digital coin, therefor other coins are called altcoins, abbreviation for alternative coin. The price is not going to change whether Bitcoin is an altcoin or not, in essence every altcoin that is created is based on Bitcoin.
237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is it risky to turn all my money to bitcoins? on: February 04, 2018, 05:41:34 PM
It could be effective if everyone accepted Bitcoin as a means of payment but that isn't the case. At this moment, the price of Bitcoin is really speculative because the majority is using it as an investment asset. Meaning that isn't really stable as a store of value, however better than altcoins. The rule of thumb is to never invest more than you can lose.
238  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin Cash - hard fork of LTC - IS COMING ! on: February 04, 2018, 05:19:37 PM
Why would I be excited for a copy of Litecoin? Changing the supply and algorithm in the source-code isn't that hard, I could do it myself. This hardfork is just sad, like all the others.
239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is still the dominant virtual currency in 2018? on: January 30, 2018, 03:58:48 PM
I have never used any other altcoin besides Litecoin to pay for goods or services. I don't really see why you should use all sorts of different altcoins while they all have the same working. I chose Litecoin because it has been around for a longer time then others and therefore has more trust. The only alternative that I haven't used but I think can be used for a different purpose is Monero, because it offers more anonymity. People just use these coins as investment assets, not for the purpose they were made for.
240  Local / Nederlands (Dutch) / Re: is een tweedehands bitcoin hardware wallet veilig? on: January 30, 2018, 03:47:22 PM
