224  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Imagine a bitcoin network of 1 computer. (The fake blockchain attack) on: November 27, 2013, 07:58:34 PM
If I'm not mistaken the client naturally goes with the chain with the longest proof of work. Seeing as how a single computer chain probably isn't running the same difficulty (or anywhere remotely near it) as the legit chain it should be ignored pretty easily.

The client goes with the chain that took the most computational effort to create, not the longest.
225  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you have multiple dreams that "continue" randomly? on: November 27, 2013, 06:25:26 PM
This happens to me, though not lately; I'll experience extremely strong deja vu whilst in the dream and continue it as if nothing had interrupted it.  When I wake up, I try to remember if I was inducing the deja vu or if the dream had occurred in the past and I was experiencing it yet again.

I still think, at times, I'm only imagining that the dream occurred on a separate occasion.  I need to keep a dream journal.

Freud called 'deja vu' pre-amnesia. You dreams contained something that was indirectly linked to something disturbing. Therefore in order to prevent your chain of thought wondering to the disturbing content, and ruin your good nights sleep, it deleted the memory of the experience. But you are left with the felling of deja vu as the chain of thought you were about to follow has been blocked by your subconscious.

if bitcoin ever really started to take off, governments would either ban it or take over the system
227  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoiner Personality - MBTI/Keirsey Poll on: November 27, 2013, 01:40:43 AM
You know these personality tests are all a lie right? None of them are true, all of the results are generic results that can match any individual. Try it, read your own personality's description then read another. It works if you really believe that this new personality type was tailored for you. They did an experiment on it, people were given a personlity test, everyone gave out different answers but everyone received the same type and result, everyone thought it was true and it was specific for themselves but in reality everyone got the same thing.

231  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you have multiple dreams that "continue" randomly? on: November 24, 2013, 01:24:50 AM
I have like.. multiple dreams that come back, sometimes the next night, or even a year later.

For example, I have an on-going dream that I'm in High School and I can't ever seem to get out no matter how hard I try.

This dream "continues" where it last left off, sometimes for days in a row it will continue, but other times it may be a year or so before coming back.

I've noticed this in the past 5 years of my life.

Am I going crazy?

No you're not going crazy, your subconscious has just found a way of packaging your dreams in a way that you are comfortable with. It would suggest that there maybe some other commonalty, such as, they are all drawn from the same desire/fear.
232  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Computer Scientists Prove God Exists on: November 23, 2013, 09:45:41 PM
I don't think we are gods separate from him, I think we are gods of him.  Like there's one god, one soul, which is everything, the light, and infinite sons of gods, or spirits, which in turn are still a piece of god.  If that makes sense.

The religion that most fits your beliefs is Hinduism.
233  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Computer Scientists Prove God Exists on: November 23, 2013, 02:50:21 AM
We will never be able to prove god....

We will never be able to prove unicorns....

We will never be able to disprove that dank is god....

If you can agree nothing is random supernatural, surely you can see how the world is manifested as a result of intelligent beings natural processes.

FTFY

And natural processes are the result of...?

The flying spaghetti monster  Grin

The go-to response for someone without a good answer.

The problem of infinite regression is one that exists in both the natural and supernatural view of the universe. I could say that natural processes are driven by the fundamental force of the universe. You could then come back and say "And fundamental forces are the result of...?", ... and so on... On the other hand I could say "And the flying spaghetti monster is the result of...?" ... and so on ...

There is always a limit to our knowledge, at some point we have to say 'I don't know'. But, just because we don't know something, it doesn't mean that God did it and to assume so is illogical.
