221  Bitcoin / Mining / Mining rig videos on: October 07, 2012, 07:01:56 PM
So BFL is doing a contest for mining rig videos but why not just have a section for any and all videos.  Basically lets build a thread of videos of our gear and see who is doing what.  Part of the joy of mining is not just the carzy configurations we have but also the sounds (love that fan hum) and even some light shows we get to enjoy.

Keep it tasteful but if you want to toss in some eye grabing stuff lets do it.

So here is my first public vid and yes this is also a contest entry.  Might do somthing else wiht my other mining setup and then do somthing artsy  Grin

You have some of the best rigs. I like that little power adapter. Wink

And Absolute: a miner's best friend.
So is the Aboslute for water cooling or for when the price of bitcoins drop Smiley.  Cool setups.

Oh if your planning to come just look for a table with a printed out Bitcoin logo on it.  I will have a picture of one so you know your not talking to the wrong group of people, ha.
225  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Oct 7th So Cal Rancho Cucamonga meetup on: October 07, 2012, 06:53:31 PM
everyone die off?

anyone want to screen the obama deception tomorrow?

not too interested now...
Well I look at it this way, the poll showed four in the IE and with myself and Random showing that is a 50% turnout.  I get what your saying but we needed to start somewhere.  Next time San Diego or OC.

Maybe gas prices scared people away also?

Doesn't matter is its only 2 of us anyways, because a couple weeks back we were going to meet anyways to chat about bitcoins... lol
Sounds like a plan, I have not been down there for a while so worst case I can see what is new.

So just to confirm that Sunday at 4pm the Yard house in Rancho Cucamonga with outside seating so come one come all.  I will get an area that is out of the way outside where we can chill and talk.  I think with the recent developments of ASIC, BFL, GLBSE and other items I will be looking forward to talking about what people think.

For those who can't make it please toss up another date and location and lets see if we can keep this going,

Main Street, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91739

So if you plan to attend post here so we can get a good idea of who is coming.

Just want to say that Cablez is the man.  I emailed him two weeks ago, told him I had 11 singles and wanted to see about dropping the bricks.  A few emails and we struck a deal, a week goes by and he is ready to ship.  I send him coins and then about three days later the cables showed up.  Just hooked them up and ta da everything is working great.  Less heat and less power, just a win win all the way around.  Worth the coins and great job.

Thanks again,

some people have "key signing parties" where everyone shares copies of their key fingerprint. Once you've verified each others' keys, you will always be able to communicate securely with those people, or the people they've shared keys with, and so on. If you meet in person, you can more highly rate how much you trust the key, which strengthens the "web of trust".

Grin,  So are you calling us easy Grin

Stephen is a major contributor (I think the webmaster as well but please tell me if I am wrong Stephen) for the Libertopia 2012 - San Diego - Oct. 11-14, 2012.  There is going to be bitcoin talks at the conference and tickets are 250 online and 300 at the door.  I am sure Stephen can tell us more but that could be both something to attend and also meet up at on the weekend.  I have a work commitment so I can't go to most of the conference and probably won't by a ticket due to lack of funds but if we want to meet up in San Diego with some other Bitcoin folks might be a spot of a second meet up?

Stephen if you want to tell us more it might get people interested in going.  Your post turned me on to the conference and the conference has some interesting info.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=109389.0
234  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: SoCAL BITCOINERS Poll: Where to meet??? on: October 04, 2012, 06:08:21 PM
Where my San Bernadino coiners at?

Maybe I could shuttle you to San Diego for 1.5BTC/X, where X is how many people come from san bern
Oh you don't need to pay me to come to San Diego but I can't make the drive on the 7th Sad.  I and or we could meet at the conference the following weekend that is going on.  I do allot of meeting/planing for my work and trying to get everyone to meet is hard so if you down for it set up a San Diego time and place and I will try to make it as I am sure others will as well.

See I call BS because as we all know you just can't call and get a sales rep at BFL  Grin.  Proof please......  Not saying it is not true but I am sure BFL does not want to be the ones that blow the delivery date that bad so from a basic business stand point that would be a hard one to accept if true.

Also I guess he's waiting for pirate to bail him out. 12th Oct will come and go. Another stall from pirate will materialize. Waiting for pirate is not an option.
I agree.

I wonder though, why do pirate come back and promises to pay back if he can just run? Pirate's identity isn't known.
Are you kidding me, there are threads that not only list his identity but pictures of him and even people tracking down his family for answers.  If the person they are hunting down is not pirate there is a whole lot of people messing with some guys life in Texas for nothing.  Search for it, it is high drama.   Grin

How many people here use bitcoin wallet apps for cellphone?
I use BitcoinSpinner.

Do any of you guys use GPG/PGP? We could sign each others' keys while we're there too.

I would like to know more about this but I don't use ether.
238  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: SoCAL BITCOINERS Poll: Where to meet??? on: October 03, 2012, 12:45:31 PM
are we still doing this? Seems a bit short noticed. We should push it into November and actually advertise it a bit.
I say we still do it and I am going to lock in the local.  There is no reason why we can't do one in November as well and advertise it.  I was just trying to put a pin in it so we can try to work from something.  Happy to come to another meetup in November too if it works with my schedule.
239  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Countdown til October 12th on: October 02, 2012, 06:21:45 PM
That's the earliest date when Pirate said he'd be able to start disbursing coins back to people.  Has anybody started a bet on whether he'll actually start paying back?  Or even whether he'll even make any kind of announcement at all?
Not another bet, I think most of us are kind of tired of that  Grin.  If I were to bet it will be that Oct 12th will come and go with nothing to show........
240  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: What will happen to all the "traditional" mines once the new ASIC based miners on: October 02, 2012, 02:30:37 PM
My thoughts on this are that with Bitcoin you have a legacy or stable example of crypto currency but as others come about those will offer options for different kinds of equipment to operate that currency.  I almost see this as Bitcoin being the gold standard while others become Siliver, Coper and other precious metals as an example of what could happen in the near future.  As specialized equipment and or code develops over time others will establish options to utilize existing tools to develop less developed projects.  Actually I think this is a great time for all of us because we are getting in and establishing what could be a major effort my only question is what will it turn into as we go.  Now this is all just a guess and by no means am I saying that bitcoin is the gold standard that it will be that way but for now that is how it looks.
My two cents
