I'm guessing they're tired of losing money from ACH chargebacks from stolen account information.

If they change the laws drastically enough to create mandatory non-grandfathered registries that would spawn a giant online black market trade, then you better bet they're going to get strict about shipments appearing to be guns. Unfortunately, UPS already goes apeshit when I bring them a package.

Well, figure they should be using at least two layers of encryption (database and Bitcoin keys), so it's probably more taxing then you think.

I guess i would of done the same thing, prove to the guy i know hes lying to try and get the guy to send back the bitcoin..
Really? Josh is an investor in the new company which runs Bitcoin Magazine. Would you be fine with him him having access to BM's user records and using that information if there was a dispute with a BFL customer who received an overpayment on a refund? Shit's fair game when you do something like that, IMHO.

BitcoinStore's ability to access this proof is removed due to abuse of the access this community's ability to self regulate is really quite remarkably Except for that whole fraud thing.

There are a million ecommerce stores on the internet who get scammed on a regular basis and have the same kinds of problems getting any kind of authority involved - even when the scammer might only be 10 miles away. They aren't posting customer info publicly everywhere...
Maybe they should? They probably don't, because they have no way of linking a customer to the scam, since it's easy to steal credit cards, but that turned out to be easier in this case. Also, there's a store nearby with a large section of the wall labeled Wall of Shame. It has photos of people the store caught shoplifting, whom the store banned, up there for everyone to see in public. Shoplifter? Scammer? I hope next time I'm at walmart and they accidently give me too much change they don't put my picture up on the wall of shame. And if you were asked for it back and you didn't give it?

Obviously we need the government to come in and regulate these people.

I can't wait for 3 months from now where people who read this thread before purchasing are posting in it saying they've been ripped off.

So much bullshit over a guy doing private detective work to get his company's money back.

He didn't set out to scam anyone though, there was no premeditation that he was going to try to scam coins from bitcoinstore.
Sure, but he was trying to get a business to commit fraud. (yeah, government sucks and all that...but still)

I don't want the next news article about Bitcoin to be entitled "In the lawless Bitcoin world, business owners seek revenge by publishing customer information"
Sure would cut down on the asshole customers.
