221  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: California on: August 31, 2012, 08:35:23 PM
SoCal Here Too,
MMJ Supporter, I think the percentage of mmj people who would grasp bitcoin is better then general public.
They are starting off with a more open mind which is a plus.

223  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is quantum computing a issue for bitcoin? on: August 30, 2012, 05:28:32 PM
So yes it is an issue (a big one), but no it isnt time pressing as far as we know.
Maybe a quantum encryption method will be created anyway, and we would just use that.
224  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is quantum computing a issue for bitcoin? on: August 30, 2012, 05:08:30 PM
So it wouldn't be far fetched to assume that there is some type of race towards quantum computing in the higher levels of security administrations. It would be like a universal key to everything.
225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Is quantum computing a issue for bitcoin? on: August 30, 2012, 04:46:40 PM
How much of a threat is quantum computing at the moment.

All it would take is one entity to achieve significant quantum computing power (NSA in UTAH!?), and all of the sudden we have a real problem. Right?

Info and thoughts welcome

227  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I have old litecoins, am i screwed? on: August 30, 2012, 02:10:52 PM
I think they are on a old client version?
Im not really sure but when i look back at posts it seems like they reissued coins at some point or something.
Oh wow Im slow, they are solidcoins actually. My bad!
Are these gone now?
228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / I have old litecoins, am i screwed? [n/m Im an Idiot they are solidcoins] on: August 30, 2012, 02:02:47 PM
I have litecoins but my friend gave them to me like a year ago.
Please tell me they arent lost for good, he is asking about them.

*Edit- Turns out they are solidcoins.

So the new question is do solidcoins still exist?
229  Other / Off-topic / Re: Free Stanford U Cyptography Class - now thru October on: August 30, 2012, 02:00:44 PM
There are so many classes I want to take there but I have none of the prerequisites nor the time for them... I feel like ditching high school, taking GED test, and going to a university right now.

If you do this make sure you finish your university classes.
Being really smart with a GED only is pretty f**** up. I should know.
230  Economy / Marketplace / [WTS] All Natural Soy Candles w/ Hemp Seed Oil - Homemade by Bitcoiners! on: August 29, 2012, 11:44:48 PM
I am gauging interest in a product I make occasionally.

~All Natural Soy Wax Candles w/ Hemp Seed Oil.~

These Candles burn very clean and for longer periods of time than normal candles.

(Traditional Candles put off plenty of carcinogens and toxins, soy eliminates a huge portion of those)

I usually make them in Mason Jars, but other options could be available.

A Mason Jar (Big Jelly/Jam Jar) size, Soy Wax/Hemp Seed Oil Candle would go for about $8-9.

I find them to be great for setting a mood, or as a odor neutralizer.

We usually make them unscented (except the faint natural scent), but we can make scented and colored candles. Usually scent and color are chemicals, but there are natural options too.

Personalized labeling & Decoration is also available which is great for gifts or occasions.

Please respond with your thoughts,
Thanks

232  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] N33D W33D MMJ Growing Op on: August 29, 2012, 10:41:16 PM
If you use the medical strategy you would have to be a non profit organization ("unincorporated" preferably).
You definitely couldnt have stock holders.
And no profit could be distributed.
You may be able to take a loan out and pay it back with interest. In which case the loan could be from a group of bitcoiners, structured in some manner.
Cool Idea,
But the downside about grow ops is they usually fail, in terms of quality.
If you have a bunch of experience producing high quality then disregard this, but if you think just by knowing all the info in books and online that your first grow will come out top notch then you are in for a rude awakening.

Anyways there would be a set interest rate and it could not be relative to how much you make.
Therefore it kinda reflects a bond.

I'm good,
Set up the mining rig @ work...
So I'm happy, only 300mh but hey free electricity Smiley

I wish Pirates 7% compounded magic school bus wasn't the focal point of bitcoin at the moment, but it is.
Its boring compared to the other fiascos so far though

235  Other / Politics & Society / Taxes on Bitcoin transactions on: August 28, 2012, 05:49:58 PM
Taxes i.e. letting a small group of people rob me? No thank you.

Kindly stop driving on our roads... Thanks

Taxes dont go to anything we use daily.
They are used to pay the interest rate on fed notes.
Sorry.

^^Comedy.

The math is a little difficult that's for sure.
It might take a refresher for some.

So far so good, but I have had to stop the video and re-analyze a couple times.

Yeah this is cool,
First week is already available.
You get a certificate of completion also, which seems noteworthy if it says anything about stanford on it.

Wonderful. Sad

They might have a manual confirmation system for amounts deemed significant through whatever means.
Maybe more than 100 btc or 50% account balance or whichever is greater, something like that.
