Just FYI for those first timers that are setting up ANTs with muli-rail PSUs... Try to find out how the rails are wired! - For example I have a 2 rail PSU that one rail is dedicated to all molex/PCI-E/SATA, the other is to the mobo.
- I have a 4 rail PSU that has one rail to mobo, one to PCI-E, one to Molex/SATA, and another PCI-E
- I have another 2 rail PSU where molex and PCI-E are on different rails.
With the newest ANTs I do like the included connector as I was able to re-purpose the 6pin PCI-E to connector be compatible with the 8-pin mobo connector as long as you change the +/- polarity when plugged into the blade (NOTE YOU WILL FRY THE ANT IF YOU GET +/- backwards, PAY ATTENTION!) That allowed me to use a relatively weak 600W dual rail supply easily - one rail has mobo 8-pin and the other rail has PCI-E. What I think most people don't realize is CHECK THE FRIGGIN OUTPUTS WITH A VOLTMETER UNDER LOAD! If the 12V rail is dropping to something like 11.2V under load, you're gonna have a bad time! I have a Corsair CX500 that drops to 11.6V under 435W load of an OC'd ANT, and thats as low of a 12V rail as I can stand... but what do you guys think? How do you know how the rails are wired do you ask? Some of the manufacturers will show you right in the specs. Many don't though. Power up the PSU and check different connectors and note each lead with a digital multimeter. Then plug in one ANT blade (while powered off, then power on) and re-run the tests. The rail with load will most likely drop .1V or so, and it should become obvious. If the PSU has two rails, but both PCI-E connectors show a drop then most likely you are only using half the PSU's power by default. Do my mobo connector trick (or molex, or whatever connector is on a different rail!) and life is good!

So guys, is it riskier to try it on a 8VRM October Jupiter, or shall I try it first on a 4VRM October one?
From reading this thread no one has been able to get 8VRM boards to work? ? I have an early 8VRM Saturn and I couldn't get it to work with an upgrade module either. I also only get 264GH on it as each chip has some individual cores that are constantly flipping between enable/disable, but at least no DIE 0 issues...

If the price crashes too far, everyone will turn off their stuff and the diff will go way down for the few of us still mining out of principle. That might actually be nice, if only briefly.
False. Just look at deepbit. Only getwork, no stratum. They were 3-4TH max back in the day, and 1.2TH now. Pretty much a dead pool but people are still on there with GPUs I guess mining at a loss??? I don't think we will see any negative sustained growth for quite a while, if ever.

I see these selling on eBay pretty steadily right now in the 3k USD range so please PM or post your offer. I realize there are some varying opinions about how safe eBay is and I honestly prefer not to sell there if I can avoid it.
We all see that. What you aren't taking into account is ANTMINERS are 200GH for a little over 4BTC on this site (or basically $2000-3000 depending on when you check the exchange rate in the past day) If you want eBay prices then sell on eBay Miners consistently run 200% forum cost on there... but as you know you lose a lot to fees and then all the risks.

Okay a couple quick questions on possible issues:
Do we know how much power you can pull off the SATA power connectors? Seems like this could very quickly turn into a bad idea as you probably should only have one or two cards connected to a single SATA lead cable coming off the PS. As most PS' seem to have only two SATA power leads max this could mean anywhere from 2 to 4 cards maximum. I guess you could go molex>sata with an additional adapter but it would be nice to know that upfront. (I just am imagining some guy hooking up 4 SATA power leads to a single cable off the PS and then melting down the whole thing....)
Also, the USB is only for connector type not for signalling, but isn't there a maximum distance that can be utilized between the slot and the card? I remember trying to combine two old riser cables together previously and it failing miserably... Does the PCI bus have no issues with the longer signal once the riser is powered?

What are your thoughts? which to get?
KNC has delivered a working 28nm ASIC miner to the masses. Cointerra has delivered nothing.
I would agree to this statement, but with the following caveats: Avalon delivered Batch1. People made money. Batch 3 was a ~40BTC loss. So past performance isn't a guarantee of future profits... 20nm is pretty small. Remember Intel is at 22nm and has had problems at 14nm. What trouble could KnC find at 20nm? If I follow the "has delivered in the past" logic heck I would choose BlackArrow over Cointerra at least they had an FPGA that worked! As others have said, split your risks. Order one of each

If anyone wants to sell their ANT in the USA I will purchase it at cost plus a bit.
I am somewhat of a collector - one Avalon, one BFL, one KnC, one BitFury... would love to add a single ANT to the farm!

I appreciate this post.
Diff just went up almost 30%.
For those Jup owners claiming they want 18-22BTC and that is the going rate: well the writing is on the wall - TOO BAD.
14BTC is the max I could offer these days also, fair price.

This is why i don't bother with friggin auctions. its bollox
I've actually gotten some good deals in the past. But its all supply/demand. With nearly $1K coins demand is just huge. People with extra money and poor difficulty estimates make it hard in this current environment. I show know, I had an Avalon Batch3. That was a poor decision in hindsight.

Since october jupiters are selling on ebay for 22-25k right now, this would be worth more there. It will go to ebay if I don't find a buyer here, I have 12+ years of perfect feedback on ebay.
Then sell it on eBay. You should know on here its worth BTC as it mines BTC. USD/BTC is irrelevant. Jups have been going for 14-16BTC, with the diff increase in 3 days prices will drop 12-14... Of course Novembers are a little faster so perhaps a coin more.

So if we're in the US and can't order these, you're saying that Bitmain is no longer shipping to the US?
Well he has said his shipper is a contact close to Bitmain. I tried to contact Bitmain as I am in the US wanting one unit but like most ASIC sellers on here I guess his inbox is soo full of "me too please!" its not even worth to him to try to respond. If anyone in the US has figured out a way to order these let me know!

Oh how short sighted everyone here is...
I remember it hitting $27 then crashing down ... eventually hitting $3 months later.
I remember hitting $260. Then it crashed down to $75 very quickly.
So it hit $1200 for a while now we are on our way down...
Whatever - I just know eventually I'll see $1200 again someday and it will be skyrocketing past that going to a new plateau.

I've sold a 30GH unit about 2 months ago on eBay went fine. Of course those go for double the price I sold it for now so I don't think that guy was going to charge back bobsag3 sold twenty or so singles on eBay, of which two he reported had chargeback issues. So about a 10% chance of eBay problems I think. I sold 160GH of Avalons last month and contacted the buyer directly to make sure it all seemed on up and up. So far so good, but I will still wait 30 days from delivery date to make sure.

Ok auction closes December 5th at 6pm mountian time funds will be held in escrow. Bids start at 18btc. Will only accept BTC.
are you fucking insane? The fact is, you will get 18 BTC after 60 days of mining with a Jupiter so that price still is appropriate. It may sound outrageous but I wouldn't sell my Jupiters for under 18BTC. Jupiters had to be one of the best ASIC investments outside of Avalon Batch 1. While I would agree the batch 1 Jup's were worthwhile to the original buyer if they spent USD on them, 60 day estimated payback covers almost 6 difficulty changes. Its hard enough estimating two changes out. When HashFast delivers you will see that 60-day ROI turn into infinity.
