Something installed the extremely annoying "Ask Toolbar" on my computer. I'm wondering if you know anything about that?
i think that comes with java. when you download anything and install, ALWAYS read what your accepting to install, dont blame bitminter.... yeah SgtMoth you are correct java does that.. BTW very nice icon to Maniac479 you can delete the ask tool bar program. I have installed it more then once along with other tag ons also if you install catalyst watch what you agree to. I do watch what I install. I don't think you can blame me. There's an entire thread called "Trust No One". This very thread's beginnings is all about how this mining software (Bitminter) isn't open source and so a bunch of people didn't install it. I downloaded it anyway, keeping my fingers crossed, and I get a warning before I install it saying that it can screw up my computer. Finally it installs the "Ask" toolbar. I didn't say yes to it installing the "Ask" toolbar- I already have Java installed anyway. Bitminter is a great, easy to use program that was a relief to use after mucking around with the problematic guiminer disappearing window issue and difficult to use command line programs. Yet it is too intrusive for my taste. I like to be more in control of what's going on. However I finally got guiminer working again and I'm back to deepbit for now. I think guiminer is excellent- just a minor bug with that invisible window issue. So you want a non-intrusive program that does everything for you? Do you realize how little sense that makes. Also, don't fault bitminter simply because you can't be bothered to read prompts when installing java on your machine

Credit card databases are stolen all the time. Almost as often as Bitcoin wallets. How would a website with SSL certificate help in this case? I think his point is that it wouldn't. But rather, that at least having an SSL cert will put the average customers mind at ease.

Ok finally solved. My issue with MSI AB showing blank sliders is apparently in newer versions of AB they dont include the Atipdlxx.dll, or at least if you copy Atipdlxx.dll into the MSI AB program folder from an older version of the driver (I used 12.1 whql version) then restart AB with the unofficial overclock mode2 option it shows the sliders again. With AB 2.2.3, amd 12.6 whql and the Atipdlxx.dll in the AB folder i can drag the slider down and set memory clocks to below core -150 Got the dll file from here : http://www.mediafire.com/?phl44hvned2pwab - just pasted it into the AB 2.2.3 folder. Will post an update with power measurements. kind regards here is the 12.4 dll if anyone needs it, took me forever to find it http://www.multiupload.nl/0BWAFN4UGMThank you sir!

This is the same guy who has been overhyping this for the last few days. I have seen no new data (silicon photonics have been used before to create qubits already in the past, before this guys jan 2012 in an obscure journal) or newly published papers. This is merely an advertising blitz probably trying to secure some funding for his research group/center. Take everything this guy is saying with a grain of salt.

Well I just pre-ordered my ASIC, however I made sure to use google checkout. I am somewhat uneasy when I see a site taking credit credits when none of that information seems to be encryped (no ssl or whatnot). Whats up with that?

I decoded it and got something similar to: i.imgur.com/5k37g (I say similar because some chars were messed up and I replaced them with probable ones.) But the 5k37g was ok and this one does point to an image of some asian girl. I treated each trx as a byte and padded on left with zeros.
This girl http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcLNteez3c4&feature=relmfuOh, that's hilarious but I have no idea what it's supposed to mean. Well at least between this and the bitfloor hack we're getting some entertainment tonight. You forgot to put hack in quotes~

probably trying to pass a message but looks like gibberish. not sure if because more than 1 person is spamming small amounts (thus ruining any meaning) or simply by inability to transcode binary

Think how it looks if they throw all their resources at it and still cant get it shut down. Bitcoin itself won't get shut down, but the above ground markets that exchange or deal in Bitcoin could certainly be disrupted. The markets for Bitcoin could quickly become black markets. That argument could be made when any sort of legal tender so I doubt that could be used as an argument to shut down above ground markets/traders.

Eventually, someone will build a much more user friendly p2pool which will cause a mass exodus from these pools to create a decentralized mining network. Just a prediction thought!

Is transparent possible? well, my admittedly limited understanding of PCB functionality being what it is, i don't see why not. i mean, the material the substrate is made of doesn't matter at long as it's nonconducting, right? sure, they're usually... what, some sort of fiberglass based board? but couldn't a PCB just as easily be plastic or glass, technically speaking, anyway? *ahem* sorry. i got off on a bit of a tangent there... People have used glass and semitransparent flexible materials such as kapton, however I think economically glass is more expensive and kapton doesn't have high heat/chemical resistance.
