221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX570 Gigabyte on: April 17, 2017, 02:39:36 PM
Could you please check power consumption on this card? The same or lower than 470?

Ive been waiting for months for these cards, but i can grab 480 pretty cheap atm! So im considering buying those instead if the power consumption is the same!

Whats with all the conspiracy theories? They dont use asicboost on mainnet theyve said. I havent seen any evidence showing otherwise.

Regarding segwit I dont know what it is exactly, all I know is I dont support it. Wanna know why? Because all I see is toxic BS and smear campaigns on twitter. I just can't be bottered reading up on it. If you (ppl spamming segwit support) cant debate/discuss stuff like adults, then how good can their shit be? Not saying ppl who support segwit are assholes.. but im sure u've seen what im talking about!

Happy easter and mining ;*

There's always a last minute surge. people love a bit of drama. most of the money will probably be his in disguise but it looks good from the outside.

True, but its kinda foolish. If ur going to invest in the first place, you should probably have done it before they hit their minimum goal, since you get 50% more shares if you did!
226  Economy / Economics / Re: Megaupload 2.0 & Bitcache - Anyone investing? on: October 21, 2016, 03:21:10 PM
I believe I got a pretty good idea what BitCache will/could be, but time will tell I guess.

The funding campaign met its minimum requirement of 1.mill $ today, hopefully it will amount into some kind of product/service in the end.
227  Economy / Economics / Re: How much money do you have left from your job? on: October 19, 2016, 10:04:56 PM

Kim Dotcom is a master in marketing for sure. Even though his new upload platform features advanced technology - most notably encryption - I remain skeptical if it will be as successful as the original. The simple reason is that time has passed and consumer behavior has changed. At the time Kim's first endeavor started there were no established and affordable streaming services like Netflix that we have today. Today's customers are more willing to pay for good content if the price is right. That limits the attractiveness of a service like Megaupload 2.0.

The investment offer isn't attractive. It values Megaupload 2.0 at USD 100 million which is pretty steep for a business with zero existing revenues. You also have to consider the substantial risks of the business facing legal retaliation by copyright holders and the like. So there are clearly better ways to invest your funds (for example by buying Bitcoin Smiley ).

ya.ya.yo!

It's a gamble for sure!

I don't get your comparison to Netflix tho, Megaupload is not a streaming site, nor a site for piracy stuff!
A better comparison would be Dropbox, Onedrive, Jottacloud.

The BitCache part, is the most exciting part of it IMO. If it can provide a method for micro-transactions for media, (which is very much needed), that could possibly change some things!

But yes, it's very high risk!
229  Economy / Economics / Re: How good are you at managing your money on: October 18, 2016, 02:34:37 PM
I used to be terrible at managing my money, the more I earned, the more I spent on crap! Consumerism is a curse!
At one point I was earning about 4000$ a month after taxes, and I spent probably 5000$ a month, consistently building up debt..

After getting into Bitcoin and mining, I've totally changed my view on economics, and how to spend my money. I used to think that I could never change my situation, and that I could never build up any money for the future, because of all my expenses. Housing alone easily eats up about 2000$/month (rent, electricity, etc.), so I just wasted the rest..

Now that I've learned how money/economics actually works, I've made a 10 year saving/investment plan, and I've cut my living expenses a lot! I'm currently saving about 65% of my income, instead of wasting 125% of it..

I put my earnings into:
  • Bitcoin
  • Passive index funds
  • Savings account

I highly recommend reading this blog for inspiration:
http://www.mrmoneymustache.com/

And to play around with calculators like these: (5% interest is not uncommon over a 10 year period if ur investing in passive index funds)
http://www.thecalculatorsite.com/finance/calculators/compoundinterestcalculator.php#

Do yourself a favor and watch this as well: https://vimeo.com/183016901

Cheers
230  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it better to save money or invest it? on: October 17, 2016, 11:29:18 PM
These are my opinions:

  • You should always have a buffer savings account
  • Long term(8+ years): Invest in passive index funds on the stock market
  • Short term: Savings account
231  Economy / Economics / Re: Megaupload 2.0 & Bitcache - Anyone investing? on: October 17, 2016, 09:42:05 PM
I'm actually not totally aware of that concept at all, i just heard about it before sometime but never knew it properly if what it is or how it would work, and i never knew that there would be some investment part about it, could someone explain it a bit for me?

The investing part of it is basically crowdfunding of a startup.
You can read more here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crowdfunding
and here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Startup_company

Considering. here is a video I saw about it, also posted this on one other thread I saw on this forum: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Di3Hw6SwvE

Does anyone know the minimum amount to invest ?

The minimum is 1000$, for 0.001% equity.
Wow, thats a pretty big valuation. In that case, would not go for it. Is it worth the 100 million valuation though according to you all  ?

It all depends on user mass, how many will use these services? Will it be a good service? Noone knows!
If it gets the same amount of users that MegaUpload 1.0 had, it will be worth it.

As I said earlier, investing in startups are always high risk!
In fact, 90% of startups fail: http://fortune.com/2014/09/25/why-startups-fail-according-to-their-founders/

So, to invest in a project like this, you must be willing to lose your money!

I don't think the name is worth that much. And the project? Details are still unknown, even the overview is unknown. What are you buying?

An escrow to invest would be nice. I can put $10 in. 99 people with me, we can join!

You are basically buying a very small portion of the company's equity. To help them to get the ball rolling. Which means you will only get a profit if:
*They are a huge success and they eventually get launched on the stock market or get bought by another firm.

If this doesn't happen, you have lost your money.

So, anyone investing in Kim Dotcom's Megaupload 2.0 venture?

Any thoughts?

Seriously, I tried to register in bnktothefuture website but it seems they are only allowing high profile investor. I am willing to try in small amount just like what we are doing in ICO Smiley Is there any way?

When you register you get 3 choices on how you want to portray? yourself. High net worth is one of the choices. Sophisticated is one of the choices, go for that one if you are interested.
1000$ minimum buy-in tho!
235  Economy / Economics / Re: Megaupload 2.0 & Bitcache - Anyone investing? on: October 17, 2016, 10:20:04 AM
Megaupload 2.0 & Bitcache will probably have MU 1.0 User base + a lot more since he promised to to give old premium users their accounts back. (He still have the old database) , but here is the thing , chances that this project is going to be successful are high , In the other hand It could go down anytime as Kim dotcom still have some legal issues with the U.S authorities and Investors can't afford taking such a risk.
Another reason for why he didn't achieve the minimum goal yet is that he only accepts Bitcoin as a payment method while most of investors prefer to pay using credit cards etc...
I personally didn't invest since I invested in another project (ICONOMI tokens) but I guess MU2 is going to be successful and I hope everyone who invested will get richer. Grin

The company is not dependent on Kim, and they got a legal team handling everyhing from the start, so thats promising! They actually accept bank transfers now, not only bitcoin!

I want to see Kim succeed, he deserves it after all the BS he's been through IMO ^^ And if I earn some money in the process, thats a bonus Tongue

https://bnktothefuture.com/pitches/megaupload-2-bitcache

You can invest here and help out! If they don't meet minimum req. the project will probably not happen!

From what I see:

MINIMUM INVESTMENT GOAL               €908,926
RAISED SO FAR                                  €678,895

I think that the minimum will be surely achieved.
And if the minimum is 1000$.. it's too much. "Never invest more than you afford to lose" (although I feel that the chances to lose are not too big).

I totally agree with this, personally this will be the "wild card" in my investment portfolio. The rest I put in passive index funds, bitcoin and a high rent savings account.
I'm trying to save/invest 3000$/month.

240  Economy / Economics / Re: Prediction for 2017 - share your views on: October 16, 2016, 10:53:18 PM
I am pretty sure bitcoin will become very popular after 2016. bitcoin prices likely will rise very high in 2017, probably early in 2017, the minimum price of bitcoin is $ 850, and I think it is enough to make people and employers to glance bitcoin as one business that is quite convincing, so the price of bitcoin will surely grow until the price reached $ 1,000 more

I assume you are taking up a loan and buying bitcoins? If you really believe the price will increase 32% in a couple of months, thats a no-brainer..
