Getting the 502 error every couple of hours or so.
Spawn more overlords fastcgi instances. PHP-FPM has this adaptive spawning feature to handle load spikes. If you are memory starved you can do a custom PHP build (--disable-all and enable only what SMF is using) which will make the processes a lot leaner.

Extremely well-done service, man! Just tried it, everything worked extremely smoothly and was easy as crap to use... and fast.
Thank you! Obviously it was inspired by OP's service but that's where the similarities end.

I think I found a bug that allows me to increase my balance..
deleted, will PM first
It's not a bug, it's a feature! (This message brought to you by Microsoft Inc.) Your balance should update within 5 seconds when you send bitcoin. If it doesn't try refreshing the page. Socket.io with xhr-polling can be buggy sometimes.

That is one sexy looking Cayman. These are possibly the best wheels you could have put on it. Thank you sir, and this price is a real steal. Assuming someone purchased 1600 bitcoins at the original exchange rate of around .0007639, they could be sitting in this Porsche for a whopping $1.22!
Insane.

From my months of experience in #bitcoin-otc...
Scammer probability scale: 0%<--danieldaniel------------------------------sublime5447---->100%
I don't think that sublime5447 is a scammer. However he is extremely provocative and is repeating the same drivel over and over again. Danieldaniel is pretty trustworthy and honors his deals.

0.8 syncs in just a few hours. It's great.
If you can test this RC please do so. The faster 0.8 is released the merrier.
Thank you for your hard work devteam.

Price lowered to 0.6 BTC to reflect the recent RALLY rise.

All mysql calls are escaped so injection should (hopefully) be covered.
I'd make a habit of using prepared statements exclusively. No handcrafted SQL queries. All your parameters are sent as binary (or escaped automatically in some libs) and there is no need to escape. If you handcraft SQL queries there's a small chance you'll forget to escape something. Agreed that if you are storing information that is sensitive (such as email addresses or other more personal information) then it should be encrypted.
This makes zero sense if the decryption key is stored on the same server.

however work will be required in the display logic of a site / program.
I don't see how this is a problem. You're already using extra logic to escape user input, format timestamps, generate urlencoded links, etc. Storing satoshi values in integer format is the sensible thing to do. Just like storing unix timestamps instead of the date string. You should never store BTC values as floats. You cannot guarantee that your favorite language / web framework / database will handle them the way you expect them to be handled.

*what country is your server in?
NL Server gets my torrent fast but download to my PC is only 400k/s.
Since the server is in Europe, connectivity to the States largely depends on your ISP's peering with Europe. Some people get 5 MB/s, some get 400 KB/s. I've gotten 15 MB/s from an EC2 instance in N. Virginia. so if i upload a huge .torrent which maps 300gb of data, but i only want one 7kb file from it, do i have to pay for 300gb?
is there any way around that inefficiency?
Currently no. But I will add something like this (along with many other new features). Stay tuned.

do you actively monitor torrents for illegal stuff?
do you put your own morality stamp on what passes through your server?
No. With that said, please do not download copyrighted or illegal material. is it possible to specify particular files from a torrent, instead of getting the whole thing?
While it is possible to choose which file to download to your computer (you get a file list when you click on Download), the entire torrent will be downloaded to our servers. is there a limit to the size of the torrent? (eg. a 50mb .torrent file which maps 500gb of data?)
The size limit for the .torrent file is 10MB while the maximum data size is 200GB.

We've received feedback that the current price is a tad too high. Moreover, Bitcoin has just hit $22 today.
So, Cost per GB has been reduced to 0.01 BTC (Minimum of 0.001 BTC)
As a thank you to all our users who enjoyed our service on our first week all active accounts have had their total deposit amount doubled.

It's the entire client side part of the wallet basically.
Their server side code is closed source afaik.

Also, the current server seems fairly powerful. It don't know why it's so slow. I feel like it's a configuration problem somewhere.
SMF tends to have that effect. I don't get why modern forum software like vBulletin isn't being considered. It will also allow programmers to integrate whatever addon you need (tipping/karma/etc). Or maybe a bitcoin specific skin.
