The only stable cryptocurrency is a dead one!
Which may explain the link not working.

It would be a good idea to hire an english speaking person that can write coherent sentences when dealing with customers. As it is at the moment, BTC-e.com seems a tad shady, so I'm hesitant to give them any business.
The state can shutdown MtGox, Vircurex, Bitcoin-24 (oops, already did), other "english" exchanges. But it can't shutdown BTC-e, coz it's a "russian" exchange. What do u prefer - to have ur fiat/coins locked one day by the state OR do business with the Russian? I hear what you're saying - this was my justification for going with BTC-e originally. BTC-e themselves have locked me (& many others) out of our accounts though. Never mind the coins that are undoubtedly stolen. Number of times the state has locked me out of my btc-e account? Zero.

Glad you got it installed. Of course, the problem is that I have to go through the same install procedure every time I use the UBUNTU LIVECD. Did you look at Remastersys? To use it you should start a fresh clean install of ubuntu. Update it and install Remastersys, Electrum, and any other software you need, then use Remastersys to create an iso file of your system. Then burn that iso file to DVD and you have your own customized Ubuntu live CD, with Electrum pre installed.

|
With regards to Pip, did you follow this step from the electrum install instructions?: Install python-qt4 and pip: sudo apt-get install python-qt4 python-pip To create a custom Ubuntu live disc, look at Remastersys. If I remember correctly, you would want to create a "backup" version, as against the "distribution" option. It's worth reading the instructions so you don't waste hours creating coasters/duds. http://www.remastersys.com/index.htmlhttp://www.remastersys.com/ubuntu.htmlBest of luck.

Get a client - many thousands of coins have been stolen from BTC-e users a few days ago. There's many other examples of why you should not trust online services. Bitcoin-24 & Instawallet, are two recent examples in bitcoinland. I haven't tried it but there's a litecoin version of Electrum if blockchains are an issue: https://github.com/litecoin-project/Electrum

I still can't login or access my BTC-e account or the funds in them. Such a shame they let this go by...
|
|
|
I have the can't login problem. Only had a small amount of litecoin at btc-e thankfully. Very sorry to hear about the large amounts at stake here.
Anger is justified, but if it helps, this is pretty standard behaviour for btce. Complete confusion, two word "support" messages, missing coins... Hopefully this plays out ok in the end. They covered everyone's missing coins in the other major breach, right? I try to be optimistic. Good luck everybody.

Cassini, that's what I did, although I haven't tried step 4 yet.

I haven't been able to login for half a day.

Why is the BTC/USD about $8 lower on this exchange compared to MtGox etc? EDIT: Answer is they charge massive deposit fees. I've never encountered a stock or forex broker that took a heavy fee just for depositing. Generally they wait till you make use of their services. I think I'll stick to the other exchanges. I notice Bitstamp has better liquidity at the moment. Yea, I went to withdraw my LTC, found out to withdraw, they take a .5 ltc to withdraw, madness. Agreed, way too high for LTC withdrawal.

I sent two transactions of 0.01 btc to the address today without issue.
|
|
|
Well, I would never notice a missing 0.04 btc usually because I don't keep that close of a check on my exact balance. But I recently put some larger amounts into my wallet, so the total was just over 35 btc. Then I was depositing the 0.02 to Bitzino so I could play with it, but just a little so I would still have over 35 btc in my wallet. So I noticed after the problems that it was now 34.99573686. There was nothing pending in the bottom left status/balance at the time.
I can't tell you the exact balance before the problem or even if the current balance is exactly 0.04 too short, just that I am positive the balance should have been slightly >35 btc.
I haven't received any payouts from the gambling site. In case it's confusing, Bitzino operates differently from the satoshidice blockchain style. You deposit the btc to your bitzino account and from there on, all the gambling takes place on their own servers so there are no delays/send fees/blockchain size issues.
It's late here so I have to sleep but I'll attempt sending another small amount tomorrow and take note of the balances in case it occurs again.

Careful with this exchange!
* Fee for withdrawal is 0.01 BTC.
Not sure if troll or some kind of micro-trader bot. What are you saying man? It's unfair they charge a fee? Or that the fee is too high?

Really?? I'm tempted to start my own coin RectalCoin and see if it fails just on its name

My pleasure. Due to the "successful transaction" window not appearing, and no record being in the Transactions tab, I have no idea what the transaction IDs would have been. I understand what you said in PM about fees and confirmation times, but even so, previous transactions seem to show instantly on blockchain.info, just with no confirmations at first. Another indicator that it was never sent is that the address I was sending to is a gambling site where they seem to accept deposits with zero confirmations. (Bitzino)
This is the address I sent to anyway: (removed) Thanks for trying.

Thanks but it doesn't start up for me on linux (Linux Mint distro). When I run "electrum" in a terminal I get: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/local/bin/electrum", line 185, in <module> gui.main(url) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/electrum_gui/gui_classic.py", line 2351, in main w = ElectrumWindow(self.wallet, self.config) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/electrum_gui/gui_classic.py", line 291, in __init__ tabs.addTab(self.create_send_tab(), _('Send') ) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/electrum_gui/gui_classic.py", line 756, in create_send_tab self.run_hook('create_send_tab', (grid,)) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/electrum_gui/gui_classic.py", line 366, in run_hook apply(cb, args) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/electrum_plugins/qrscanner.py", line 96, in create_send_tab if qrscanner.is_available(): NameError: global name 'qrscanner' is not defined *edit: actually it did start the Import dialog but not the full program

A quick update: I managed to uninstall electrum, reinstall, and restore from seed - but still missing the coins.
A bit off topic: Thomas, at the "Labels imported" window it says "Your labels where imported from...". It should be "were". Cheers.

Thanks for the replies. Well, kind of embarrassed Roxrr.... I can't work out how to uninstall electrum! I installed using I tried deleting wallet.dat and restoring from seed, but the .04btc is still missing though. I'm glad it was a trivial amount involved but now I'm petrified to make any transactions. Thomas, I'll get that key to you now. Cheers.
