221  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: April 29, 2024, 08:41:08 AM
It looks like i'm the only one hoping for the Timberwolves to sweep since I have them to win (@1.96). I'm not confident about the Suns having the same urgency as the Lakers to win a game, and I think the odds on the Timberwolves are still too good given they haven't kept the margins close. It'd be nice if the Suns could prove me wrong by extending the series to a game five, but i'll always take the Timberwolves knowing the Suns rarely clutch it up whenever they're the favorites.

Congrats with your bet, as Wolves completed the sweep ANT provides them 40points showing his idol that he's now a grown up man who can deliver important basket, that slam dunk which give them extra edge really the highlghts of the game, managing to escape the defense of Beal and dunk it in front of KD that's really something that will hype his name up.

Moving now to the second round and will face another tough challenge, let see if how they will proceed on thier campaign to win a title.
Wolves was really the play as most bettors are still believing the Suns that could win in game 4. They think that they'll have the same faith with the Lakers, but Durant is not Lebron, so he'll have to be swept. ANT really came up big in the 4th quarter, he has become a very clutch player, not afraid to take a shot when the game is close and Suns have no answer from his aggressiveness.

So moving on, they'll  likely face the Nuggets, I think I'd bet on the defending champ in that game.  Although I think that Wolves had a decent chance of limiting Jokic because they have 2 bigs but they Nuggets are a champion for a reason.

On the other games, Lakers escaped repeating their last time result, extending the series to game 5 and hope that they will continue to extend agaisnt the defending champ, while both Indiana and NYC needed one more win to move forward to their next rounds.

The first round is not so fun, exept for the Sun-magic  and Clippers-dallas series.
222  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: April 28, 2024, 09:31:52 PM
I agree, it's not all about the ticket prices or other cost in purchasing merch, it's all about people and the supporters are losing interest with them because of repetitive teams playing in the semis, supporters know how the team plays and they can easily predict who will become the winning team, But I don't know if there's still a lot of people still watching them once it was aired on television.

There are still some but most of them are those who are betting on the games. Actually, they can reach many viewers online like their facebook stream depending on the teams that are playing, if it's Ginebra then that's guaranteed they'll get a good number of viewers.  However, there's a problem with their streaming as it's not really a live telecast but more likely a delayed telecast, that's why people would just choose to watch from the illegal streamers as they provide what people are looking for. Just imagine you are betting on a certain game but what you are watching was a delayed telecast, how can you win?

yeah right, interest even with the bettors will decrease with how the league managements taking care of their live games, just like you mentioned, why bother to bet in a certain events only to find out that the game was alreadt done, it's best for them to take a gambler with how they will bring the fans trust and interest.

If they can add more teams which is not part of the big two franchises or also not a part of the farm team, or like what we are discussing previously about inviting overseas teams which very effective the last time they offer it.

It's more on the adjustments and willingness of the management that may survive the league in terms of fans interest.

I think for now that they could not accomodate new teams then they should invite overseas teams and play with the league. With that, the season will be more competitive, and even though the farm tems still exist but people would not mind that as they want to see the best teams in the PBA playing against an overseas teams in the playoffs, or in the Finals at best.

Anyway, let's discuss on the game last night. Have you seen the game between Meralco and Magnolia? I think they have the lowest output in a single game not sure if they already made history on this one, Meralco 74 - Magnolia 51 points.. 51.. yes that's it, have you seen a team that went to the finals last season and only scored 51 points in the entire game? I think this team really have a problem, and although they secured their playoff spot already but I think they'll be having a problem in the series if they cannot figure out their offense problem.
223  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: April 28, 2024, 08:48:43 PM
Taking the home Pacers-10.5 with no Dame and no giannis.  I think they will be rudderless and with haliburton he will control the tempo.
I'm on the same side. Middleton alone could not carry the Bucks to win on the road, yeah he had a great game 3 but that was it as I believe the defense will be adjusted to him and now that he is the only legit scorer of the team, it will be easy for the Pacers to limit the Bucks. I'm seeing a blowout win by the Pacers here and will finish the series at Bucks homecourt.

Suns -1.5 just like the Lakers think back against the wall they squeeze one out, they have to right?

Also taking over 213.5.  I think it will be a frenetic pace, and at the end if it's close lots of foul shots.  Can see a 115-110 type of game.

I hope the Suns has not given up the series yet. Durant has to lead this team as he is the most experience in the roster. If they can win maybe at least in the first half as they will probably start strong due to the possible adjustments in this game after their last game's defeat.
224  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Nery For Undisputed 122lbs Title - May on: April 28, 2024, 02:49:22 PM
Maybe, Tapales tried that strategy as well early on Inoue, but from time to time Inoue will caught him going inside.

The strategy of Tapales was very simple, it might have been effective if he has power because somehow he was able to hit Inoue with his counter punches, but due to the lack of power, Inoue earn high confidence and he continues to attack Tapales. With great strategy and power, I think Nery will be able to give that to Inoue and make give him trouble, but as you said, there's no blueprint yet as to how to defeat Inoue, so I'd say it's easier said than done.

That's one thing about Tapales, he doesn't have that power, but if Nery has some then we will see how Inoue will react if he will be hit early. But as we have seen in his fight since his close encounter with Nonito Donaire, he has improved a lot not just his power, but his speed and quickness in throwing counter like in the Fulton fight. So that's why I said there are still no blue print and it's hard to mold a fighter that can beat the version of Inoue. But in any case, Nery will give his best here, he might fall short though because of Inoue's training and improvement in his last couple of fights beating at least world champions.

I think Inoue just got smarter after his fights fight with Donaire. He respect his opponent more now. I mean, he doesn't just attack rectlessly and think of finishing his opponent early, he starts with calculating the movement of his opponnet and feeling the power, once he felt that he could absorb the punches, that's when he will be more aggressive and will go for a kill. This is Inoue v2, a smarter Inoue that is harder to defeat, the power and speed is still their and maybe improving at the same time but we cannot deny that Inoue had already matured a lot in terms of his boxing styles.

226  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 28, 2024, 12:22:30 PM
They started hot again just like in game 2, but this time, they make it sure that they are going to held on that lead. Good to see the D'Lo was able to get over that last game performance with 0 points, as he comes back with a big game and make it sure that they are not going to be sweep by the Nuggets.
D Lo was a difference maker here because if he struggled, then the swept might happen.  He had 21 points and had a decent shooting, that was a relief because it would be too bad if the Lakers will be swept again. Now they just have to win game 5 and then 6 to have a very exciting game 7, I hope the Lakers fans now will continue to believe as the Lakers are trying to make a history.

Lebron's legacy will be great if he can manage to bring the team to another win and at least force a game 6.
Why not push a game 7? Grin

OKC too strong for the Pelicans, complete team, SGA again lead OKC but Josh Giddey put on a show with 21 points.

That's fact, and swept is inevitable with the way the OKC are playing. I thought they would struggle in the first round but they showed their dominance. Looking forward to a great 2nd round series, if it's vs Dallas would be better.
227  Economy / Economics / Re: Habits that can lead to your financial failure in 2024 on: April 27, 2024, 08:56:37 PM
Staying in your comfort zone is the foundation upon which financial problem start allot of people don't like leaving where they are currently managing for bigger opportunities as such they become tied down to their merger wages
Its not wrong to stay in your comfort zone if you see bigger potentials for financial success in the future, but if it would mean staying in your comfort zone because you have fears in starting in a new one, that would mean you will continue to suffer from living with financial failure forever.

Don’t be tied to your fears but instead, learn to overcome them as much as possible. Although that could be hard at the beginning, but eventually you will learn to take control of it and be successful on your goal.

I wasnt' able to bet on games last night but I could have loss my money if I did.

I'm just guessing on the betting spread last night based on the result.

Converge 93- Ginebra 105

Bossing 113 - Northport 115

I think Northport did not cover the spread, same with Ginebra as my guess they are -14.5 or more vs the struggling Converge.
229  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto remaining anonymous is good for Bitcoin! on: April 27, 2024, 04:33:57 PM
It's best for him to remain anonymous so that he can preserve the anonymity of Bitcoin as well. But if the time comes and he has revealed himself, we can't do anything for now but everyone starts to claim that they are satoshi and there's even court battle on it but no one can prove an authenticity of their claim that they are the real satoshi. It's hard to prove that and one of the most common proof that people are asking are about the kept bitcoins around 1M of its supply.
I guess if Satoshi had kept himself unknown for more than a decade, then I think he can leave it that way forever. And besides, bitcoin will never change even if Satoshi will come out, so it’s better to see him anonymous forever. And people can’t do nothing about it but just face the reality that anonymity in bitcoin really exists. And for me, it would be better and safer for Satoshi not to reveal his own identity, otherwise his life will certainly become the target of the government and the bad guys around.
230  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need advice on getting merits on: April 27, 2024, 03:43:31 PM
Hi guys, I want to ask some tips on getting some merits. I somehow feel jealous when I see other full members having tons of it even if they're just new to the forum. I know that there are some ways to earn it like being active in your local board, engaging in the gambling threads talking about particular sports, create an informational thread, or have some deep knowledge about bitcoin's technical like block size, hash rate, etc. And that's my concern, I am not good with any of those stuffs. I am not a sports enthusiasts nor good in bitcoin technical. Our local board is not that active also compared to others where I see some members' their main merit source.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking my time to read my post. Cheers!  Smiley
From what I can see, you have been in the forum since 2017 and the last time you login to the forum was 2023 which shows that you are not an active and regular person in the the forum.  You will have to be regular in the forum for you to keep getting merits. If you have been active since when you write this post, it would have been quite okay and people would have seen the need to give you merits. You are not active and you are not in any signature campaign, it could be difficult for you to get merits since you don't write nor try to make good post that would make people find you as a regular and good poster.
Getting merits actually takes time because you need to secure your learning first by being active most often in the forum. And when you think you have gained sufficient amount of knowledge and experience, that’s when you will see getting merits come so easily after they have acknowledged your posts because it’s helpful and meaningful for them.

Don’t focus on hunting merits first but rather give full attention on what you can learn in the forum. That’s the best possible way so you can maximize earning merits as well as maximize learning in the forum.
231  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How has Satoshi's identity never been revealed ? on: April 26, 2024, 09:46:12 PM
Even with current anonymization technologies, the most prominent cybercriminals/activists get caught.
Yes, the cybercriminals get caught because they are criminals and they do something which harms others while Satoshi Nakamoto made something that has changed the world and that's why he's still safe from anyone's hands.

Satoshi was a true geek and he knew everything about the privacy, and anonymity, and when he created and released that anonymity and privacy he did it carefully so no one could actually know his true identity. I know that each organization has some predictions about him but no one actually know who Satoshi was.
Satoshi has seen this coming that’s why he’s smart enough to plan all these things ahead in time. And by staying anonymous and out from the spotlight is part of his plan. Regardless of what the government is thinking about him, but the fact that he’s innocent and has not done wrong any criminal act, then there’s no reason that he’ll be force to show publicly. However, thinking if he has remain alive or not, that’s until now is still uncertain.
232  Economy / Economics / Re: Your aging and retirement plan is your responsibility. on: April 26, 2024, 08:47:19 PM
Diversifying BTC for retirement plans is not really my thing because at the end of the day, there would be no reasonable profit for the original investor and the investor would be left with the choice to either hold or sell when old age comes and if they didn't get to introduce their siblings or grandchildren to BTC , the coins would be lost.
Having crypto as your retirement plan is fine, as long as it is well planned and of course as long as you know how to take profit. Seriously, I’m not too focus about my retirement since I’m living my life everyday to the fullest since I can never know if I can stay alive during my retirement although of course I still prepare for it but it’s not for my self anymore, I prepare for the benefits of my family and crypto can also be a good choice for your retirement option.
I have to agree with this. It’s not wrong to invest in bitcoin for your future’s retirement or for your family’s future, as long as you are taking calculated risk so you won’t end up being unfortunate because you lose a lot since you put all your hard-earned money there. Bitcoin still cannot guarantee what it’s future will like, but the fact that it’s highly trustworthy and profitable, so investing in it at an amount we can afford to lose is not that bad at all, at least we learn to set future goals, and not just wasting all the money enjoying the present life to the fullest.
233  Economy / Speculation / Re: After the dip in crypto, when are we expecting ath? on: April 26, 2024, 08:28:56 PM
I cannot give you a fixed date or month when will bitcoin skyrocket and achieve its new all time high, no one will be able to know that. That’s how uncertain and unpredictable bitcoin is. But one thing I’m sure that it will not stay on its low price forever, but has definitely its own time that it’s price will surge high again and create a consistent price increase by then. Be patient and just focus to your goal, that’s the only way you’ll avoid panicking and make wrong decision making that may lead to a huge loss and regret in the end.
234  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading campaigns helps level up trading for traders on: April 25, 2024, 08:57:59 PM
Except for maybe just gaining experience, a variety of traders lose out on the rewards that are usually given out to the few. Such competitions mostly favor whales as they have very high trading volumes unlike retail traders with small accounts.

Compared to the prizes top traders win, exchanges often make a lot from trading fees in such competitions. They are just aimed at upping an exchange's revenue.
While this type of trading competition can be taking advantage of our trading fees, but isn’t this a good activity that will also motivate us and improve our trading skills and strategies? Certainly yes. With the prizes at stake, even big whales will also develop interest to participate, hence creating more traders to be more competitive on their chosen field of career, or side hustle.
235  Economy / Speculation / Re: If China Supports Crypto, Where Can Bitcoin's Price Go? on: April 25, 2024, 08:26:15 PM
We’ll get a good idea about what sort of support will be coming from China on April 30th and the days thereafter when we see what sort of money flows are going to be generated from their new ETFs. I suspect we won’t see what we’ve seen here in the US as far as demand initially, but as more and more investors get access to BTC, the price will inevitably rise.
And having China in the process that will come to support bitcoin as well, I really think that will leave a huge impact for bitcoin price. So let’s just wait and see as to how far they’ll show support in the next days ahead. Meanwhile, it’s obvious that US still gains the biggest effect for bitcoin when it comes to its demand, but having China as well as an influential country, surely it will also create a positive effect on bitcoin’s price and its general demand.
236  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can Bitcoin be a full time career for investors? on: April 24, 2024, 09:03:10 PM
. So i wish to ask if Bitcoin has the potential that investors can rely on as full time career considering the inevitable uncertainty that are involve in Bitcoin investment such as difficult in price prediction and the volatile nature of the system which may pose some kind of difficulty to have adequate
Knowledge and better understanding of the system.

This is bitcoin investment, not bitcoin trading or any other form of earning money in crypto. and you are aware that Bitcoin investment is a long time scheme not even one month thing that will bring back your money with profit. So imagine you rely on it without getting any other way of earning money, how are you going to survive, trust me you will later sell your investment at lost. Because you will surely need funds to meet your needs, relying on bitcoin investment is never a option, furthermore Bitcoin investment is for people that have another means of earning money, so that even after the investment they won’t go back and sell till it reaches there target.
The first rule in bitcoin investment is to invest only at your spare money you can afford to lose, which means that would be your extra income from your main source of income or side hustle. Otherwise, if your purpose investing in bitcoin is to rely completely on it when it start making profits, obviously it won’t work in the long run. There will be inevitable times that you will face financial crisis and you can’t just rely on bitcoin for that most especially if bitcoin that time is experiencing price correction itself. In the end, you will still need a stable job that will sustain your daily needs since bitcoin itself is designed to be a long term investment, which means it takes time before you will reap its profits.
237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please, I urge you to buy bitcoin! on: April 24, 2024, 03:42:31 PM
Investing in Bitcoin is just a self determination and not by force to buy it. And it is not because a large number of people buy Bitcoin and that will also make others to buy, things are not working in that way. In business, what works for one man might not work for the other and if anyone wants to succeed in business or investment, he or she has to plan for the goal of the investment. He has to k ow if it is for long term or short.

Because some people are very good in short term investment and if they invest.i. long term investment then they won't succeed and some are very good in the long term investment and if they involved themselves in the short term investment then they won succeed. So the best thing to do is tok ow the goal of the investment. Either long or short term. So that you can lay down your aims to put into action.
Bitcoin is not a do or die, lucky for those who have stored a lot of bitcoin because it means massive profits in the future, but that does not mean that those who have no interest to buy bitcoin are unfortunate. For some people who have no urge to buy bitcoin, then there must be something wrong with bitcoin that they don’t feel investing, and let’s respect that. However, what works for us may not work for others. Even if they have seen how profitable bitcoin is, the fact that there is also high risk with losing in bitcoin, then most probably they just want to play safe and settle into low risk and low stressful investment.
238  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia on April 20 on: April 22, 2024, 04:49:00 PM
There's a report about Ryan Garcia cashing out $12M after betting on himself to beat Devin Haney, Ryan is a huge underdog in this fight nobody believes that he will beat much more mauled and knockdown Haney 3 times.

No wonder he is ecstatic about his win because he is getting huge money, although he owed Haney $1.6 million but that's nothing to what Ryan will get.

This is one big act of the internet's greatest troll, he makes people believe that he is crazy and out of control but it's an act so he can bet on himself so he can win huge, unfortunately, many people also lose a lot of money because of the idea that there's no way Ryan can beat Haney.

https://www.sportskeeda.com/mma/news-this-literally-illegal-fans-react-ryan-garcia-reportedly-cashing-12m-betting-beat-devin-haney

So he can say that publicly, like it's allowed in the boxing industry that a boxer will beat on himself to win? Because if that's in NBA, he would have been punished a lifetime ban, honestly, I'm curious because I don't know the rules, but isn't it ethical? Because someone could also bet agaisnt himself and cash huge money, I think it's easier than trying to win.

Ryan is fully aware of this but since it's not in Nevada but in New York City, it remains to be seen if there are legal repercussions based on the article I provided so we will hear more of this in the coming months.

People are divided on this it is illegal and may lead to game-fixing going back to the fight many people are happy that Ryan wins the fight but some people hate for not following what the fight should be.

Jorge Masvidal calls him the greatest troll because he misled all of us, even Devin Haney's father believes that it was just all Ryan's act, maybe it has something to do with Ryan's ADHD as he claimed to have it.

There was related topic on the question that we can find in this thread.

https://www.quora.com/Can-Mayweather-bet-on-himself-legally

The question was ;
Quote
Can Mayweather bet on himself legally?

Most of the answers are no, and I agree with it because it will be related to game fixing and we know that game fixing is betting on yourself and against yourself. Maybe a boxer can beat on themselves because they know their capability, but making it private may attract speculations and that will tarnish the reputation of boxing which hasn't been so good TBH.
239  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] David Benavidez vs. Olexandr Gvozdyk interim WBC Championship on: April 22, 2024, 03:45:12 PM
Whoever will lose in the fight Beterbiev vs Bivol I guess Canelo will face?  Canelo vs Bivol 2 would actually be good so Canelo can regain back that loss. Beterbiev though old, that guy is still massive.

Canelo would want that, he was talking about rematch with Bivol when he loss but it seems he isn't serious with it. Now, for sure he will consider fighing the loser of this fight as that would be favorable for him, and in terms of selling the fight, it's not a problem anymore as Canelo is very popular.

A Bivol vs Canelo II would be interesting to watch, and I can already see what would happen next, if Canelo will even the outcome like beating Bivol in a rematch, there could be a possible trilogy, which will create more hype in the career of Canelo, just a smart strategy in case he'll bite that.
240  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: April 22, 2024, 03:18:03 PM
It's always been them and that's why some fans are happy to see if it's not Ginebra ending in the grand finals. Although, fan base wise, they've got a lot of it but even with their games, its' no longer the same that the whole venue is full. This time, it's not that full at all and fans have lost interest due to the topics like this. They don't want to see the same teams ending in the finals because it's sort of boring when we want all teams to be competitive.
Some maybe happy but majority of the fans are rooting for Ginebra, so this team are not in the finals, they'll not spend their money to watch the game live.  Filling up the Philippine Arena would result to a bigger income for the PBA, they needed that considering how much they are paying on their teams that are full of star players, I'm talking about the teams own by a giant company.

Last time no Ginebra, so this time the league can't afford to not put Ginebra in the Finals, they should be here and will probably battle with SMB which has a very dominant game last night and still able to maintain their undefeate record.
That was the time when Bay Area Dragon was part of the league and with their match against Ginebra, they have filled the entire area. See, that hints that the fans are up for the competition and not with just a few of these teams that will always become the champions and have some unfair trades.

Yeah, i remember that time, it was one of the best seasons for the PBA as the fans are supporting our very own against a strong Bay Area Dragon. I even thought at the beginning that no teams could beat the visiting team but when Ginebra beat them in the regular season, that made me think that Brownlee is really special, and in fact it was Brownlee who took care of the business in the Finals and beat the Bay Area in game 7.

I'm hoping for that time to come again, of course not Bay Area anymore as this team is not already existing but there are other teams out there, they could get it and I'm sure people will be coming back to watch an exciting match. Also, they should not only limit to one team, they can invite more.
