221  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: miner fail alarm on: May 28, 2011, 02:48:39 PM
I'm working on e-mail notification. That was one of the reasons to confirm your address. Not sure if it will help if your router blocks e-mails too when fails.
If you use Outlook, you can set a special sound to play on receiving mail with specified subject or "from" address.

Any ETA on the email feature? I can get the email via my iphone even when the routers down.

I'm releasing an app for android, most likely early in the next week, monitoring miners status and you can set an alarm if a miner is down.

Thats awesome but sadly I have an iphone so its not that useful for me. any plans for a IOS version?
223  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: miner fail alarm on: May 28, 2011, 02:36:19 PM
That would be EXTREMELY useful.

I used to have a machine or miner go down regularly, but then placed the computers far apart. They now never go down, therefore it must have been heat related. Nothing else had changed other than the distance between the computers.

my issue is my shitty router usually needs a restart
224  Bitcoin / Mining / miner fail alarm on: May 28, 2011, 02:21:57 PM
I keep having my miners go down while I'm asleep and lose 8 hours of work. I was wondering if anyone could post some code or develop a tool that uses deepbits api to play an alarm sound when a miners "alive" = false. I have little experience coding and surely I'm not the only one that would find this useful.
225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tycho cheating every miners & soon destroy total bitcoin network completely. on: May 20, 2011, 04:25:52 PM
OMG! someone is more successful then me because I sit around and smoke pot all day! Success equates to authority! I hate authority!

Jesus, doing business with anarchists is a pain in the ass.
226  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Does deepbit rip people off? on: May 19, 2011, 08:08:18 PM
your sensationalist title for the thread is vile.
how is it vile? it has a question mark at the end...

does davout rape babies? see why its vile? now people are thinking about you raping babies.
227  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Does deepbit rip people off? on: May 19, 2011, 07:43:32 PM
the number showed on deepbit is an average derived from the number of shares you turn in. its an estimate and your sensationalist title for the thread is vile.
228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Difficulty increase - 60% on: May 18, 2011, 09:17:55 PM
I get that there will still be a block solved very 10 minutes or so. the thing is, 60% will be taken away from the miners CURRENTLY selling on mt gox and given to the new miners. some of the new miners will inevitably sell their coins and some will inevitably not. If 100% of the new miners sold their coins then there would be no change in supply, otherwise, supply will go down when difficulty goes up. When supply goes down, price goes up.
229  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Difficulty increase - 60% on: May 18, 2011, 06:44:28 PM
Difficulty does not drive price, only the reverse is true.  However, an increase in press exposure and interest may cause a rise to $10 next week.

The miners that sell their bitcoins on mt. gox are about to have 60% less to sell. Unless there's suddenly a random 60% drop in demand then of course the price will go up. Press exposure is the biggest determiner of price but supply has an effect as well.

Its like Ender's Game. We're killing aliens.
231  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How much would it cost right now to attain 50% of the network? on: May 17, 2011, 04:30:28 AM

233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "bitcoin is the most dangerous open source project ever created" on: May 15, 2011, 09:39:42 PM
the headline is more linkbait than anything else I imagine. take it with a pinch of salt.

A lot of people that wouldn't normally bother learning about bitcoins will now due to the sensational headline. Its a good thing in my opinion.
