221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [GIVEAWAY] DividendRippler.com Beta Testing on: April 26, 2013, 05:39:50 PM

Here are the many ways I can send 0.40 LTC to your *client* (not ripple address), now that you are set up with DR. The dividendrippler ripple address is at the top, with your dt highlighted:

Please just send me LTC please, tks!

With ripple & DR, you can withdraw BTC and TRC as LTC. Test it out, let me know if you have any questions!

whats a tag? And where to find it

You can think of DR's address as the routing number (rfYv1TXnwgDDK4WQNbFALykYuEBnrR4pDX), and the destination tag as an account number. When you wire funds in the banking system, you send the IOUs to another bank, but you also need the account number at the bank on where they should go, otherwise you are just sending funds to the bank itself.

The dt set for each address can be found by putting in the ripple address in the search bar on the DividendRippler.com site. dts are assigned when registered.

And back down again.

I can't really understand why anybody would be doing this, we saw the same exact thing at 150. Should have just entered the order halfway between where it ended up and it would be more successful at bringing the price back up.

Well, with 2-3 minutes of lag, where do you put the price? Probably just a market order

229  Economy / Speculation / Re: why has bitcoin been crashing? on: April 24, 2013, 07:34:58 PM
The real question is why does the stock market crash like this? Bitcoin is hyper-liquid and has no barrier to quick sales. It is a small, and has relatively shallow depth and is unregulated. The stock market of the 19th.century was similar and went through comparable boom and bust cycles. I think bitcoin is responding logically to the present market forces.

In demand driven markets, such as Stocks, Bonds, Real estate and Bitcoin, the supply is known or easy to forcast. There can be IPOs, bond issues, and high-rises to increase supply, but this is not a large price risk to the market. The price is simply what will someone pay for it. These prices are subject to price collapses, as lower prices can actually reduce demand in human psyche.

In supply driven markets such as orange juice, gasoline, grains. The demand is relatively known, but the supply is a concern. Weather and war impacts the potential supply of these markets. The price risk to these markets is to the upside as a frost and drought can wipe out a large portion of oranges and corn. A hurricane can cause natural gas supply to be halted. War in the middle east shocks supply concerns of crude oil.

Update: DR will now fetch quotes from ripple on each refresh. Look for bargains in the ripple.

231  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] DividendRippler.com Create Assets & Pay Dividends in ripple on: April 24, 2013, 05:00:52 PM
Do you have rules/limitations on what assets you allow?

I always wanted to list my Piratecoin asset that follows the following rules:
Shares have a fixed price (e.g. 1 mBTC each)
90% of every sale of Piratecoin shares goes into a pool, 10% go to operator for covering costs and expenses.
Every week 10% of the money in that pool is being distributed to share holders.
If there is no money left in the pool to pay each shareholder the required amount, a final dividend of the remaining amount is issued and the asset closes.

Everything should be auditable, which makes it a perfect match for Ripple as there is no need anyways to move the money outside and it can just stay in the pool...

We can do just about any asset. But won't provide any authority. For our first few assets nelisky and I discussed wanting an asset such as a mining operation.

So your asset is of the ponzi type?

I am not able to write the correct address, it always takes the last 5 digits away from the address "Recipient" when I will send the XRP. What's wrong?

The code from my previous sent XRP is Transaction # 0AE28CE02CAB3D93C9D2A82C9CFEFC1D96D41B646E22A511B7A392AB3A64C6E5

Your transaction is correct, and was sent to dt=1. The ripple client doesn't show the destination tag on the confirm page, but if it had taken it away the send would not work at all, just try once to send without adding the dt= and you'll see it is not allowed.

Anyway, lets retrace your steps and after you have completed the registration we'll be glad to refund you your lost XRP. In steps:

- Search for your address in https://dividendrippler.com
- Enter what addresses you want to use for redeeming, just BTC is fine, you can even not use any at all
- Press register
- You'll see the notice to send 1 XRP to rfYv1TXnwgDDK4WQNbFALykYuEBnrR4pDX?dt=1 within 5 minutes
- Send 1 XRP to rfYv1TXnwgDDK4WQNbFALykYuEBnrR4pDX?dt=1 before the 5 minutes have expired (I'm assuming this was the problem last time, and I'll check to make sure we don't have a bug in the registration process)
- Search for your address again in a few seconds and it should now show you your issue and redeem addresses, and the deposit request warning should be gone

Let us know how it goes!

Many thanks! 1 XRP is sent.

Looks good from here! I don't see any redeem addresses, so either set them up or try withdrawing through bitstamp. Let us know of any issues.

234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MSN : bitcoin is like gold, a bubble on: April 23, 2013, 02:57:44 PM

In a nutshell: Everyone rushed out of gold and into US dollars, just like everyone rushed out of bitcoin and into US dollars a few weeks ago.

But he doesn't address: What happens when people rush out of US dollars? He is naive to think that can't happen, it is his anchor. Most of the world thinks like this, but for how much longer?

error - I don't see any Issue addresses. Doesn't appear you sent the 1 XRP from sending address.

Sorry, I didn't understand.

Now I did send the 1XRP, do I get a second chance? Smiley

Of course. Coins sent.

You don't have BTC/LTC/TRC addresses set up yet. You will need to to set those addresses and send another XRP. OR you could try to send the coins to bitstamp, and withdraw from there. If you go this route, please let me know how it goes.

BTC: 0.018 (99ec826287) LTC: 0.804 (4db01663f2 ) TRC: 2.035 (a30ccc706e)

I see the transactions now, but they say "error".

Now I have set up the adresses, and granted enough trust. Will the transactions complete by themselves?

Not really easy to use, both Ripple and DividendRipple... thanks for letting me try and understand nevertheless! Wink

There is one global retry for all payments that are in error. To get an immediate result, send 1 XRP to rfYv1TXnwgDDK4WQNbFALykYuEBnrR4pDX?dt=1 from your ripple account. This will flag the server to retry errors in your accout.

We'd like to make it easier. But now that you have the setup, you should be golden. If you want BTC in ripple, just send to your issue address.

Ok, now I have them  Cool

I redeemed part of the BTC in Bitstamp, all well.  Smiley Actually, Bitstamp is a bit more friendly: it offers an option "add funds with Ripple", which automatically opens the right page.
It's still a bit confusing the idea that I have to "send to" someone (Bitstamp) if I want that funds redeemed and credited to ME, one needs to really understand how Ripple works not to get confused.
Also, I kept getting "no path found"... when the problem really was that I had forgot a zero, and so I didn't have enough funds. Not really helpful at all for an unexperienced user.

I am waiting confirmation for the TRC redemption through DividendRippler, all well on that side apparently, at last Smiley

Keep in mind that bitstamp already had you send specie coins to them first. They gave you an address, which you sent and waited for the 6 confirms. THEN you asked for ripple funds. We are actually 1 less step - just send funds to the issue address.

As for 'sending' to get something, it's confusing because we have been exposed to a different system for the last 100 years. In the old days when we were on a gold standard, you would bring in gold for a gold IOU (US currency), and redeem us currency for gold. Same concept here. Now, we are all used to the "IOU Nothing" system, where nothing is redeemable.

Not sure I follow you but first let me ask.

Can I just use Ripples internal trade features to buy more XPR's with the 0.02 btc?

That is all I want now. If I can not, I am confident I will figure out what you are saying when my bitstamp account get funded.

I am waiting on Bitstamp. Wish there were better faster, more anonymous gateways.

rBY82V7hf9mkZ3vZGvB6LPzjsBE8zrvMTR

Sent! Same thing. You'll need to set up redeem addresses, or try to withdraw via bitstamp. We have some markets out there in DR, should be pretty liquid.

BTC: 0.02 (98f7208d92) LTC: 0.835 (06c92dfc7b ) TRC: 1.424 (636090f618)

You should(?) be able to go to the BTC.bitstamp / XRP market and put in an order, and have it ripple through with DR btc. I can't test from my wallets, they are all tainted with bitstamp btc. Let me know how it turns out. Other option is to use the BTC.dr / XRP market, but it isn't as deep.

Many thanks, received LTC and TRC but no BTC. Something wrong on my side? I set trust of LTC and TRC to 20 but only 0.5 for BTC.

I have it as complete - you did everything right. We wait for 6 confirms, that was probably the issue.
